- A Day In The Life Of An HVAC Technician with HVAC Roddy. Hey I’m Roderick and I became an HVAC Technician in April of 2020. Watch as I take you on a typical HVAC repair or HVAC maintenance call for a rookie/new HVAC Technician. I started this channel to show and motivate anyone who is eager in getting into the HVAC World . But just an FYI I am a rookie so my experience level and techniques are no where near as good as some of the senior level technicians lol but that’s okay because that’s why I’m here to show we all have to start somewhere. Subscribe to my channel to see my daily life or my service calls or even maybe we can go under someone house inside a crawl space. Hope you enjoy :)

For being a younger guy Roddy and somewhat newer you’re very professional. You listen to the homeowner, which is really important, and you thoroughly investigate issues even if you can’t determine what the issue is, you at least try to find answers. You definitely have the ingredients for making it far in this trade. 👍
Thanks humble!!
Well said
@HVAC Roddy roddy I'm little unease i wanted know how to fix this but I'm afraid I might fail easily messed up
@@hvacroddy5261 I'm looking to go to school to be a technician. You've inspired me bro!! Any advice?
Yo it’s crazy how we got the exact name and go by Roddy as our nickname and we’re both HVAC Technicians. Much love my guy keep getting to it !
Very respectful and knowledgeable HVAC Technician!
You want to move to Boise and do commercial work?
I’d take 10 more techs just like you. Good attitude, articulate and thorough. Keep up the good work, you’re an asset to our trade!! You got yourself another sub too.
How do I break into the trade? I am very interested in hvac but have no experience but would be willing do whatever it takes to start
@@Bhodi_Ballistics you can start with a union, they have apprenticeship programs and can find you a place to work. If you don’t like unions just look for who is hiring and has a good reputation and go apply. It’s a great trade. You won’t get rich and you’ll always be challenged. Lol
You should clean your condenser coils before checking pressure… a fellow HVAC TECHNICIAN
Thank you for posting this content
Great job and great patience!! I woulda left that 3rd house when the customer left! I don't want to be blamed for anything! LOL I don't know why people hate to change the blower caps! LOL They want to wait until they go out in the middle of the night! LOL
I’m saying lol
Great video pal
Give it a few years kid you'll be cussin out customers in no time . Those dirty S.O.B's dont know nothing bout their own house then they wanna leave then the husband wants to chime in and gives ya some goofy story about shutting off at night . Probably cause of his goofy programing skills on HIS Stat . NAhhh Just Playin Gotta Give the Customers Respect ! Great Job Roddy keep it up ! You're fixing to make some MONEY with that good attitude just be patient it will come .
Enjoyed the video. Keep it up.
I just got my epa 608 universal today 🤝🏼

Thanks Hero !!
How's the school going?!
@@hvacroddy5261 learning and watching this as I take on this here challenge as I go attend trade school.
@@what_antmade7409 are you done with school? How many months
@Michael Gutierrez just getting started
Just subscribed to you. I’ve been doing HVAC for about 5 years in the army and I’m nervous about getting out and doing hvac part time while I do school full time. The jobs I did in the army weren’t specifically Hvac focused. Any tips for me bro ? Any info would be greatly appreciated
Atleast you ain't break ish... lol keep working bruh appreciate ur content
Does Residential HVAC pay good? Also what is your work schedule like?? Are you on call? What are good HVAC companies to work for?
HVAC looks like it’s a blend of electrical refrigeration plumbing and sheet metal
And carpentry, and science, and sales, and mining (crawlspace 🤣)
I got a new return grille 20x20 and it's alittle smaller than my current old one and the filter is snug that I used to see how it fits, also I've searched for wider dimensions but none that goes to 23 on the outside, It's not in yet I need help on what to do
Your videos are like if @Deestroying started doing hvac 😂
New sub here, I’m in the commercial kitchen equipment repair/install. Not finding I like it, I had 6 months of On the job training and was booted out on my own with no previous experience, thinking of starting fresh and getting into an HVAC apprenticeship, what aspect of HVAC should I get into to get my feet wet? I was thinking installs?? Great vids
I say go for it . You only live once !
What do you record with im trying to start doing hvac videos aswell would appreciate if u can get me started on what to buy to record
How did you not get lit up by that compasator ?? I never seen you disengage it???
Excellent work . Note: try to keep the camera video steady.6/7/2023yr
When are you going back to check the UV dye on that leak test from a few days ago?
Next week
How do you get started in hvac ? I’m also in Georgia. Do you just take a course at a tech school and then apply for an apprenticeship ?
That’s a great start. In GA we can apply for the Pell Grant, and the Hope Scholarship. Between the two you may not need to pay anything at all. And if you’re applying for a job if they know you’re going to school or that you’ve graduated it very much helps.
How can I break into the trade with no experience? Hopefully you might be able time in the right direction.
Nice video , do you get paid while driving ?
I got my first hvac install helper job on moday any tips im really new to this
Learn when to be quiet ,if you see your senior doing something shady take mental notes don’t call him out on it in public because mfs are scummy they’ll believe them before they believe you
I know installation is more important than the brand, but if all of them were equal in price, which brand would you choose for your own home? Lennox, Carrier, Goodman, Bryant, or what would you choose???
The company I work at uses carrier.
For all of our new construction. We have a big contract with dr Horton
@1:46 Lmaoooo 😂
Do you encounter mice/snakes often?
Is being a hvac technician very physically demanding? Iam thinking about doing it but scared of wear n tear on my body.
It is pretty physical demand on some days . But usually most you’re doing in sit down or on your knees fixing stuff
Roddy which school did you go to am in Atlanta been tryna see which school is the best to learn please 🙏 thanks mane
I went to Georgia Piedmont Technical in Clarkston . It was pretty nice .
Thanks man preciate it !
Idk if you can say but how much a year do you make as an hvac tech??
Depends on experience and where you live but most of the ones I know are around 40k-55k a year
I think it depends on your skill set. Some make 39k while others make close to 90k.
Can you tell me what you use to edit vidoes
Yea imovie
@@hvacroddy5261 I figured lol but I don’t see how you get all the cool options. I don’t see how to make like subtitles on screen or anything like that. I suck st editing 🤣
Can u make 6 figures a year in this field bro?
Yes
Yeah. But you'd have to work a lot of overtime or own your own company.
You on ig boss man?
I'm 26 and thinking about getting into HVAC, is it worth it?
U need a go pro on yo head
