Are You READY For The Summer?? | A Day In The LIFE Of A HVAC Technician

  • The summer heat is here! Are you ready?? Every year I have to prepare myself for the summer months. Its hot and humid, and the calls keep rolling in. This video is more of a ride along, its not about going into detail , its about showing the side of how busy it can get for a one man operation and how I deal with it. I typically don't like to run more than 2-3 service calls in one day, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Hope you enjoy!

I’m on my third year in the field worked the first 10 months in resi and got lucky to have gotten a job with a commercial/industrial company and much prefer the commercial side but just make sure you learn from the right people you’ll know who’s good by working with different people, don’t take shortcuts and be thorough you’ll never have problems or call backs then but all in all I enjoy my job and the learning process and the more you know the more money there is on the table so don’t get stagnant I’m making more at my job now than the resi guys that have been in the field for 10+ years so commercial is definitely worth checking out if possible for you

Turns out they had a generator for there house for when our power company (PG&E) shuts us down. After talking to the customer for a few Found out they were trying to run it with a small generator. They told me they were told the generator would not work for the package unit, so I think they just forgot. System was also new. Good luck

If you ever have power to both wires at the condenser or have a short in the two wire all you have to do is take the Brown or white wire of the contactor and ground it somewhere on the unit once it gets power from the stat it automatically turns on quick trick that can sometimes save you from hunting a pesky low voltage
