This game is so fun I’ve been playing it for a few years now! Happy to see them sponsor you! :)
I kind of like mistakes in old songs, it makes the music feel more "real" and organic.
Very true Eve. The Beatles have more mistakes and unintentional recording blunders than anyone. I may have to do a full video dedicated to them! 😆

People don't talk about this much, but I think your knowledge of rock history is one of your personal strengths.
Thanks Andrew!! I never thought of myself as being very knowledgeable about rock history. But I am HUGE into classic rock. Plus, Wikipedia helps too... 😜
@@SteveTerreberry Oh yeah I don't doubt that you probably look up tons of stuff before each video like this, but that's part of the strength. Not just the knowledge, but the ability to seek out the knowledge.

@@SteveTerreberry You're a clown with wax in your ears.
Then I think he should at least know that that sound in Paranoid was always there (also on original recording), and you can replicate it by playing the 3 high strings on the 12 fret :P Well maybe he does, and he was just goofin' around ^^
Tony plays Paranoid at the 12 fret - E barre chord shape. So the noise you are hearing is just him simply pushing his middle finger down on the G string 13th fret, and I think it happens more than once. Don't forget about his prosthetic finger tips!
It's a different sound than that
I always thought that was intentional as tony did it multiple times?
@@tumid1371I think it’s somewhat intentional. To hear it played live, there’s a quick hammer-on/grace note nested in there. I think he just missed the hammered note in the recording.
Nobody cares, geeks so shut up.
If you listen to the whole song, I feel that's a part of the riff, definitely not a mistake
Hi steve terreberry, I just want to let you know how much you have done for me. My grandpa has sadly passed away on January 16 and you have helped me through this hard time. His funeral was on the 30 of January and I thought of you and became happy. You are one of the best man youtuber I have ever watched. All I thank you for is making me happier through hard times. ❤ you steve, thanks
Small correction for Creep; it was actually Jonny Greenwood who added in those extra dead notes, and he did a lot of things in that sort of “why not” thought process in a lot of other songs, too.
True, also the fact that Steve T doesn't really know about Jonny Greenwood feels like a crime at this point.
@@pooyansp9006 Well he is Canadian, eh!
It didn’t take me long to find the Radiohead fan who explained this lol
@@sauloramirez3495 Just like an Eagle Scout, ready and willing to provide the correct information. 😉
Like when he comes in early in Fake Plastic Trees's second chorus. It was genius.
In megadeth's cover of paranoid there's a fail right at the end where drummer doesn't stop and dave mustaine just yells at him
Nick... Nick..... NIIIIIIIICKKK!! hahaha... That always made me laugh
That's more of a drum fail than a guitar fail
@@jani7607 If you listen closely, Nick says "Fuck me running" right after.
I don't think this was a mistake
I figured it was intentional and they were just goofing around.
In David Bowie’s Gene Genie at the :46 mark, the bassist moves to the new chord too early and you hear that as well as Bowie tell him to “get back on it”
Dude you should know that the paranoid riff isn't a mistake at all. It's throughout the whole song at certain parts. Derrrrrrrr come-on Stevie!!!!
yep. I'm sure he does, he's 'baiting' comments.
The Paranoid thing is part of the riff, he plays right bellow the main note (D and G strings 12 fret)
I was just going to say the same thing.
I was also about to type the same thing ! It’s done multiple times I think that proves it’s not a mistake lol
It's the noise after the fretted 12th, I was thinking the same thing as you guy then stuck the head phones on and there it was
The story goes that Jonny Greenwood hated the song as it was when they were writing/recording it, and he put in the big muted chugs and the suddenly-loud-overdrive chorus part as an on-purpose "I hate this emo shite" to the rest of the band. But they liked it and wrote it into the song. So Stevie got the jist of it but the details wrong.
Megadeth made it part of their version of Paranoid.
Sting bumping into the piano at the beginning of Roxanne always makes me chuckle.
Came here to say this!
He put that in the last mistakes video. :D
Thats in the last mistakes video!@@timothysredzinski5462

I have to say that since finding your channel, I absolutely love your content. You definitely brighten up my day brother!
The fact that you are also a fellow Canadian makes this channel all that much better. Keep up the fantastic vids my friend!
I've quickly realized from being in the studio that a small mistake in an overrall good take wont matter. Most of the time they vanish when you get to hear the full piece.
A cover I did had a wrong or during one of the guitar parts and I left it in because I essentially played the entire song without doing a retake (it’s a song I have mostly memorized) and it actually fit it pretty well so I said fk it left it in and loved it
I thought the sabbath mistake fitted in a sort of jazzy way within the whole arrangement

Old man (56) here: a bit of imperfection here and there adds character to songs. When everything is perfect, as it (supposedly) is nowadays, I honestly think we've lost some spirit. Now get off my lawn!!
Cool video though, thanks!
Sorry, you're not old yet...you're only middle-aged. I have a few years on you, and I don't consider myself old, either, just broken down.
I call it texture. Those little oddities, natural wavers, and mistakes that give life to art.
@@TheEudaemonicPlague Time puts wear marks on everyone. Scars and wrinkles are unavoidable.
SO true, the best part of any song is when it sounds live and real.
So true. It' like a patina that makes it that much more charismatic.
The "Rain Song" tuning is an open Gsus4 (D G C G C D).
And, yes, there are quite a few strums that take advantage
of the droning open strings that that tuning allows
It really not a missed note so much as a louder sounding,
fretted note.
You said it so I don't have to.
@@Splentaurhe said it so I also don't have to
I'll add that this is very normal for strumming pattern for Page. The idea that is a mistake is just ignorant.
Agree. The song could be played in chords like a real book arrangement. Yet Page plays many little melodies on each chord . I don't think the open string was a mistake, it was just an embellishment
Sus 💀
I just got back into your content after like 4-5 years, it still does NOT disappoint
Love your goofy vids bro!!! Keep it up!! Relatable video, I've had to do a dozen takes before I get my guitar covers right, so the more u know, right?
Apart from the Greenday fudge up (which I thought was intentional!!) I would not have picked out any of the other mistakes!! 😂 How many new notes have you named today?! "Meh" "hooonk" "faaart" !!! 😂😂😂
I never noticed most of these either. But MAN I'll never unhear them now. Especially the "HOoooOonk" one!! 🤣
@@SteveTerreberry I can't comment but replying to you is probaly better. The Green Day riff was intentional. If you are a die hard Green Day fan like I am then you know that Green Day likes to goof around and that riff was them goofing around.
It was intentional and iconic AF.
I think it was intentional too.
An earlier drum mistake that mirrors this one, is the beginning of The Sheriff by ELP. Carl Palmer pauses, utters a curse, then continues.
Hi, Steve! I’ve actually never noticed these mistakes, but now I don’t think I can unhear them! 😂 I do kind of like the idea of not cutting mistakes out of songs, especially if they’re that subtle. It makes the song more authentic & sometimes those mistakes can add a little flare. 😊 Great video! Have a good day. 😃

I love hearing pure nuances in songs..some standouts are, sweet leaf..hearing Tony's hands sliding along the fretboard and Scorpions blackout..the harmonic picking from over distortion..love it.
This is one thing I love about live albums when you can hear mistakes in concerts. Like when Queen covered Hello Mary Lou at Wembly and Freddie just yells “I forgot the fucking words!”
There’s TONS of these everywhere! Ahhhh the joys of LIVE recording. The best take wins EVEN if there’s a fuck up in it. Keeps it alive and interesting.
Paranoid is not a mistake. It's a part of the riff. And it's multiple notes. Basically E-minor pentatonic staple. Same for Zeppelin Rain Song. It's not a mistake. It's a part of the riff. Both are not even out of tune.
There is a little note that happens, RIGHT AFTER THAT, that is the mistake... I never heard it, until i saw this video.... Its there, but its boosted on this video to make it louder. its a little "dink" sound....
@@levimaynard2237on wicked world you can hear Tony’s guitar pick squeaking off the strings

Another mistake I keep hearing is in You Must Burn by Metallica, at round 5:21 during Kirk’s solo after the harmony there is a really weird high pitched note and it catches me off guard every time
it's so good to be back at your channel❤
Chris Hillman of The Byrds was playing a Guild bass on Spanish Harlem and the E string slipped off the bridge. Records were made fast in those days and they didn't allow the band to retake the song (the bass wasn't on its own track, so fixing the mistake would have required the whole band to play the song again). The photo of The Byrds you showed was a later line-up after Chris Hillman had left the band.
Don’t be shy. Share the weirdest encounter you had when delivering pizzas.

Well then I might just have to do more!! The Beatles have so many mistakes, I could do a whole episode on them!! 😂
@@SteveTerreberrythe Beatles are my favourite band, and I can give you a few mistakes.
In She’s a woman (underrated song) John mutes a chord in the second verse. They didn’t do a retake cause idk.
Another one is in all you need is love. The “solo” George plays is a huge mess up.
There’s a few songs with vocal screwups, notably in harmonies.
These include the studio cut of please please me, slow down, and Paul singing the wrong part in obladioblada.
Paul also laughs during the recording of maxwells silver hammer.
Hope this helps!
Steve you bring out the inner child in me and always make me laugh. Don't stop ever.
0:06 You already have my cracking up 😂😂
At the end of the final verse of "I Can't Get Not Satisfaction" when Mick says "and I try and I try and I try and I try, I can't get no" Keith comes in too early with the main guitar riff. You hear him play a note, then pause before playing the riff.
Whole Satisfaction is full of not so precise playing of the riff, since it was supposed be replaced by horns. He maybe used the fuzz pedal, Maestro FuzzTone for first time at that session so yeah, he comes late, one times plays early, you can hear him switch it on and off.
The sloppy nature of the song just adds to its charm.
I loved this!! I didn't know about any of these, but now I'll never be able to un-hear them! I take that back...I knew about the Green Day one, but just figured they intended it to be there. I am impressed that you put on pants. I feel special 🤣 That's crazy about Dragon Force...who knew a broken string could sound so epic. Great video Steve. I think I know more than I did before 🙃.
As far as I know, the Green Day one was not intentional. I would be very disappointed if it was. Haha! 🤣
Steve T has been the goat youtube guitar player since his first lil wayne video. Keep up the content buddy! You and erock both!
man terry you went crazy on this one!
I think the Paranoid "mistake" was Tony playing a trill, but it didn't sound out properly. And the Creep thing was because of having to re-record the track so many times that they just grew to hate it. Johnny Greenwood was actively trying to destroy the song with those iconic chugs
From what I always got from Paranoid tabs (which are all wrong probably) it's open stringed harmonics kinda sloppily played on the 12th fret A and D strings. Either way it's part of the song, he even plays it live like that.
Hi! Hope you have been doing well Steve. Herman Lee's "mistake" was pretty awesome! Probably couldn't have planned it to go that way. 😊

Yes, we are definitely spoiled in this digital age of music production!! I couldn't imagine having to leave one of my mistakes in a song!! 🤣

honestly that guitar fail tony iommi has is one of my favorite parts of the song
The Tony Iommi thing was a more like a pinch harmonic and it makes the riff sound like a massive metal creature creaking to a halt. It's a key part of the song.
That note Tommy slid into ended a half step down from what you played, which actually worked
I've been a fan of your content for a few years, and you never cease to entertain! I loved songs like "Dream On" and I do have to agree, that little "meep" is hard to catch. Now I gotta re-listen to the song 😂
