      Really? I have some questions: 1) Looks like the washer has to be placed with the rounded side up (and not reversed) before using the flaring tool? Is that correct or it doesn't matter? 2) Do I need a different size tool for the different size grommets or are the tools one size fits all? 3) What is the flaring tool basically doing? Is it flaring out the neck of the grommet such that it crimps the washer in place? 4) This is more of a statement and observation then a question, it looks like the side you do the work on is the "rough" looking side and therefore to work on the same side of the cloth for all grommets. Nevertheless, it's a nice demo on how to install a grommet.

    Very good K.I.S.S. video! Two things that you can do as well is to 1) glue the fold, &/or 2) stitch up the fold. This adds greater strength to the grommet. Good vid!

    Hi Phil Crockett -
    This is Your video on YT -
    so feel free to use any damn music on your videos.
    After all It was very kind of you to take the time to create this easy to understand video to help people out! So, Thank You!
    You can’t please ‘em all. I have no complaints at all. I’m happy you created it and provided the content.
    because you didn’t even have to do that.
    People should be grateful, and if they don’t like the music then they can mute or lower the volume.
    PS: It’d be funnier if you purposely used some oddball or obnoxious music for future videos 😂

    I bought a grommet kit and followed the instructions. What surprised me is that I really had to whale away on it to get the grommet to seal.

    does it always have to be installed on a fold?

      It does not, however I find it best if the fabric is thick. If it's thin, then I fold it

      1:34 I am trying to put grommets for a purse handle…canNOT get the material to cut! It’s going through multiple layers but it’s not even cutting the top layer! What am I doing wrong???

    • @PhilCrockett
      @PhilCrockett  3 місяці тому

      You're probably doing everything right, it's just the cutting punch is a piece of junk and works best on super thin material. I've been known to burn holes using a red hot heated tip of a Phillips head screwdriver on material that is easy to melt.. otherwise, if it's too thick of material for the junkie punch, you will need to cut the hole out with an exacto-knife. The hole doesn't have to be perfectly round as long as it's snug on the Grommet. hope this helps.

    I would add to make sure the hole cutter is sharpened before trying to use a hammer to hit the tube!
