Jason Alexander is very humble. His portrayal of George in Seinfeld was pure genius, and it is shameful that he never won an Emmy for that in of the years he was nominated. Very enjoyable interview.
I think the reason Jason didn’t win an Emmy is because he played the character in a way that made it look so easy. Which what only pure genius comedians can do.
Kevin, a stroke of LUCK that I discovered your Podcast! I was viewing Charlie Rose's interview of Jerry Seinfeld. Next up Jason Alexander which lead me to Your Program. I have been following both your acting and stand up for DECADES! You excellent. You are an HONORABLE MAN. Grateful, Rick Stotelmeyer, May you LIVE Long and Prosper 😊
Fantastic interview and great platform for intelligent and candid conversations for getting a glimpse into the lives of some of our favorite on screen personalities. This is one of my favorite interviews of all time!
I really liked this. Jason really let down his guard and was very likable. He has a cheerfully filthy mind ~ much appreciated in this house. I had several real laughs.
We are all George Constanza. I love him and Larry David the most. Watched Seinfeld and Courb Your Enthusiasm so much, that i feel like they're my friends now :)
No. We are not. George is Larry David. Most of what George does is Larry Davids life. We did nto live Davids life. And frankly, he knows he a narcissitic jerks sometimes. So.. you go ahead and wave that flag. Im not George. Im not Larry David. And if thats the case.... IF TRUE... yer kind of a prick then.
The 1st season of Seinfeld sucked really bad. Everyone is super lucky that NBC didn't cancel it after the 1st season, we would've missed out what would become the greatest sitcom of all time.
You know when you listen to music and you get flooded with memories that youve attached to that music, I’m watching this for the nostalgia. I remember mostly listening to the KPCS whilst working as a gardener. Knob Creek, youre on the air.
Thank you so much for this one KP, really outstanding chat/interview - first time where Jason hasn't come off like ass, and has been let to "be himself". Really enjoyed the last 2 hours. Keep it up man!
Jason is such a great actor I love him in Seinfeld he's so good I saw him in another show too he was good in that very entertaining I wish seinfelt would come back on with a reunion
If you watch Curbed closely and you're a Seinfeld fanatic, a majority of the episodes are basically R rated Seinfeld stories. So many almost exact same story lines.
That opening bit with Sammy... I can't stop laughing. That was so pre-Tr*mp! Do you remember when we had brains, and a sense of humour? Guys, thank you, kpcs never disappoints.
Funny, before Jason Alexander comes on, Kevin touts the then soon to debut Million Dollar Money Drop. One month ago, I watched a much newer KPCS, where Kevin makes fun of what a bomb the Mil Dollar Money Drop was and how no one watched it (showed a clip too).
my top two guesses of the role Jason Alexander was offered for the "Glengarry Glenn Ross" film but then had to turn down due to scheduling... 1. okay I forget most the character names, but the role played by Alan Arkin (kinda ironic, given the interviewer here), 2. the role of the customer played by Johnathan Pryce.
His comment about university training and education applies to many professions. They teach you a lot of stuff but not what you need to know in order to apply the information.
7:20 - Evidently it doesn't matter where you're born; Spielberg has a CBE. So theoretically, Kevin can get one too. (How he'd earn it is another matter.)
His recollection of the Charlie Rose interview and getting asked about the Seinfeld negotiations doesn't quite how it went. Charlie definitely wasn't trying to play gotcha in that interview.
George Constanta was originally based on Jerry’s best friend at the time, Mike Constanta (not Bob Costanzo as Jason incorrectly said. I,e is a real estate agent (as was George) and sold me my first house right next door to his own house. We were neighbors for years. He has tons of pictures of Jerry when they were hanging out before Jerry made it big. I believe “can’t stand ya” , Georges wacky parents and many episodes were borrowed from Mike’s experiences.
@@km_attack not nonsense at all. George was named after Jerry’s best good friend Mike Costanza, who went to Queens College together. He initially modeled George after Mike, a real estate agent along with some of his personal stories. While Larry used George to be based on himself, Jason did not have any idea about that at first, which is why he originally based George on Woody Allen. I know everything I say is correct. You however, have no idea because you know none of the parties.
@@km_attack yes, George was based largely on Larry.. however the op is correct. The original concept was based off the real Constanza, who later tried to sue and failed.
@@trusso11783 Prove it. Every interview and backstory I've heard does NOT support anything you're saying. George's character is based on Larry... regardless if Jason Alexander knew it initially or not.
Jason Alexander seems like someone that you LOVE their character but dislike the actor. I know someone who worked with Jason and said it was not a good experience. "Asshole" came up frequently in her recounting
Jason's memory is a little bit off. There were only 12 episodes in season 2, not 13 episodes and the masturbation episode was the 11th episode of the 4th season, not the 3rd or 4th episode of the 3rd season.
There were 13 episodes ordered for season 2. However one of those episodes written ( The Bet/the Gun) was rejected. Also, Season 2 had to be postponed one week because the Gulf War and its news coverage began the very night of the S2E1 premiere.
Most interesting! I didn't know, Jason's birth name was Jay Greenspan. He really didn't need to change his name. HIs original name was just fine,....in my opinion. I know some (Jewish people) changed their names in the olden days,.....to names that were less Jewish sounding, during the era when there was still prejudice. But Hollywood was and is still peopled by many who are of that faith. Jeff Goldblum,...kept his name. Stephen Tobolowsky kept his name. And many others have, as well.
I really felt I got to know Jason Alexander through this interview. Still wondering how George and Jerry were such big Mets fans but George threw himself into working for the Yankees.
@@daveidmarx8296 And the Yankees were winning again at the time. Plus, much more relatable to the rest of the world given the legends in tbeir history Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, Berra, Maris, Rizzuto, Jackson, Mattingly... and the all stars in the lineup during the shows run.
