Man, Batman is brave. He thought Superman was dead but still decided to take on Doomsday.
True. Some will say that's stupidity and others will say he was brave because he thought he was the last 1 standing who possibly had a better chance than the soldiers. Then again he probably tried because he felt guilty for weakening supes in their petty fight earlier on.

They also included Superman shriveling up from the nukes radiation. I just noticed that after rewatching this scene. Gotta give credit where credit is due for source material accuracy.

They really did well with the feeling of dread with the whole situation! Loved it. Doomsday felt so unstoppable.
That's the thing I love about Zack Snyder's approach to comic book movies. He embraces the sheer sense of power and almost terror of certain characters in ways Marvel refuses to do. In other words, he not only makes his characters look powerful, but makes them feel powerful.

I liked the first time I saw it, even if doesn't respect 100% the comics it's a decent adaptation, people just want to feel that they got the best stuff but they actually doesn't even know what they want and just complain about everything.

Ok so if we are gonna speculate and jump into the shoes of the character, here's what I think.
J'onn has always had issues revealing his true identify in the comics, animation ect. Remember in the animated series he reverts to a more humanoid form of green martian to appeal to humans instead of his true martian form. He's always lacked confidence to reveal his true nature. The very fact we are lead to believe that this is the first time he's witnessed WW and Batman in action, you'd have to assume that if you go beyond the movie, he's probably weighing it up here whether to help or hold back. Remember as Swanwick he's got a duty to perform within the US government. That's incredibly important to him as we'd have to assume that he's been living on earth much longer than Supes or even Bats (obviously not Diana)
Granted we don't know why Zack didn't reveal him here but all reports state that he isn't coming out in his true form and fighting Steppenwolf in the Snyder cut either. It's said that he'll cameo in his true form in the scene with Lois and Martha (as he's apparently Martha in that scene). So if this is the case, that'll be three movies where he hasn't joined the fight. It's safe to assume that based on three movies, this version of J'onn is protecting his position as General Swanwick. I mean how would the top ranking general in the US military explain his absence in a crisis like this to the president of the United States? I'm only basing my long winded opinion based on my love of the character for over 30 years. The character of the Martian Manhunter is incredibly intelligent but also very private with his true form prior to revealing it. Even when he is outed as the Martian Manhunter he still lives as John Jones. So I'd say it's simply a matter of him believing that him working with the US Government is more beneficial than revealing his identity at the moment. That and he's got a lot of faith in Superman.
Now if Doomsday were to stomp all three of the above, and things were looking bad, he'd jump in no doubt. Same with the Apokolips invasion. But yeah, for me? If we're jumping into the characters shoes and we were speculating as the OP is doing, I'd say J'onn is making a calculated risk assessment. One alien has already revealed himself to this world in Superman. That was met with backlash at times and there's still some issues with humanity accepting it. J'onn would be well aware of the risks this would pose if a green Martian turned up on the battlefield whilst the General of the US government has gone missing with a global crisis at hand.

@The Law There was no cramming of stuff in the movie. Unlike the MCU, DCEU movies originally didnt have postcredit scenes, just some scenes to tease the viewers. And the justice league movie wasnt the one we were promised. It wasnt Snyder's original movie.

I was surprised when I heard that lots of people disliked this film originally. I absolutely loved it, in alot of scenes it looks like it's straight out of a comic book and I love it. Sure, the film has its flaws but so do alot of other great films.

after realising projectile 2 (is not moving / dead), it could be the perfect point to introducing Martian Manhunter. i was hoping that the General was somehow the Martian Manhunter, and at THAT point 0:21, he decided to come and try to beat the monster . .. then the final fight would be much more epic and destructive

That kinda depends on how much force the nuke actually puts on Doomsday vs the effects of gravity at the altitude it's hit. For all we know, it might have been blown up just enough to leave Superman in orbit while it crashed down to Earth.

Note Superman was already weakened by Kryptonite during his fight with Batman that's why he was affected by the nuke and that's why his attacks didn't have much of an effect on Doomsday.
No man made weapons such as guns, missiles or nukes can harm Superman or anything kinda weapon at all besides Kryptonite weapons.
It was kind of stupid for Batman to have had him chase him to Gotham instead of just going and getting it and sneak attack him.

Superman was only floating in the upper atmosphere, where you don't necessarily have to be pulled by the earth's gravity but close enough to view the cityscapes and their lights.
I was expecting Doomsday in Man Of Steel 3 to debut. Imagine after the Death of Superman. Darkside returns again to Earth to fulfill his quest on conquering Earth once and for all then at His cemetary he'll emerge once again to team up with his comrades the Justice League to defend the Earth.
