Yeah, I don't see this strat working. Especially in a field that requires very high R&D and thus companies are mostly monopolies (ASML is glaring example). Lose market/revenue - R&D goes down, directly to our competitor.

China is the largest buyer of Chips in the world. Blocking Billions of dollars worth of export to china will devastate the US chip companies. Chips are not that hard to produce.
i remember watching some panel discussion on the China tech curb by the US experts. They said that if the curb can delay China by 5 years, they would take it, even if it would make China eventually self-sufficient.
Well, US did ban exporting PS2 consoles to Iran. Allegedly because chips in them could be used for weapons of mass destruction, but I just think they wanted to deny them the games/entertainment, thus leading to counter-revolution.
Why don't they sell the technology to China at a significantly higher price? This is fair. If you get some runners very close to the finish line, as China does with subsidies, it's fair to charge a premium for the unfair competition. Completely restricting trade makes no sense. I have no idea who in Biden or any other administration could come up with such a plan. I would like to see an interview with the specific person in this administration explaining why he sees his decision as logical and beneficial for the United States. I can't find any interview or written document.
Could you finally make an interview with the same people from the Biden administration that has told allies that it’s considering using the MOST SEVERE trade restrictions available if companies such as Tokyo Electron Ltd. and ASML Holding NV?
do as I say not as I do. While US asked allies to sanction Russia, US-Russia trade increased by 20% last year. lol. while all of EU brands exit russian, many US companies either stays in Russia or use a different brand name.

Keep it up and soon they will produce better chips than you.

Capitalism cant seem to compete against Communism...
CCP has 20% of Chinese people unemployed, broke, failing real estate.
you know, if that is what American learned from this, then America has way bigger problem than China's competition.

Us: Ban China from space station program!
China: Built its own space station
Us: Ban the sale of chips!
China: you know whats gonna happan, right?

China is laughing on the far side of moon
This whole "let's ban our companies from making money" and "let's hand the market to Chinese companies" strat is fascinating.

Wait what? Why adding more restrictions? Isn't the previous restrictions working? I thought China is doing badly.

Does chip production depend on the capabilities of the producing countries, and China has manufacturing capabilities and research capabilities
Not just that, Chinese chip companies who struggled to get orders are now swimming in cash, lol
Tougher rules = not providing maintenance on already sold machines. Does that mean China can ask for money back?
yes a full refund worth 40 trillion and probably more in lost revenue
China was aware of what was off putting since the day of arrest in Canada airport
China can void the patents if no maintenance is provided.

You think china cant make its own machines😂😂
That what USA Congress dont understand 😀 they ban China from Space station, ban Huawei and now Semiconductor 😀
they're already making those machines.
