Star Wars - Duel of the Fates Suite

- Suite (arranged by myself) of the many versions of Duel of the Fates, from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Original Soundtrack and the Complete Score. Composed by John Williams.
When I hear this I look around to make sure no one is watching and I make lightsaber gestures and Obi Wan expressions to the rhythm. I'm 45.
Also love your art
Hello there

Scott The Artist I’m 13 and I do the same. Star Wars for people like us is something magical. It is something no one else will ever understand. But for the few who do get it, we will always have the joy that Star Wars brings us. Weather it’s is through playing around, or listening to music. Star Wars will always give us that beautiful feeling of happiness. Thank you for that you beautiful people. And thank you God for allowing me to enjoy this In my life.
Do you make the noises of the lightsaber swinging ?
Whether or not you hate the prequels (I personally don't), you gotta admit it: This song is an absolute masterpiece.
All the music from Star Wars is. Williams, Kiner, Griskey, all the others, they all did a wonderful job bringing Star Wars to life through the music.
Don't forget Giacchino
Søren Saunders couldn't agree any better myself, I love everything about Star Wars

Ninja Briefs the Saiyan HELL YEAHHH
Sano Sauro, yeah, I liken the TFA music to the MCU soundtracks. Very very generic in comparison with other Star Wars movies and CBMs, respectively.
The only character who ever managed to kill Liam Neeson in a movie.

And he kinda paid for it within five minutes if you don't count The Clone Wars tv show.

Fun fact the duel on Mustafar is the longest sword fight in film history:)

Yeah but let's be real he didnt have anything really memorable for the sequels outside of Rey's theme. I dont want to rag on the guy tho because hes been lending us his talents for so long and produced most of the greatest themes in cinema. He deserves a break and a better movie to make a cameo in.

Sad that in ANH, his only weakness that renders him immobile during battle, is equal ground.
Actually he only won in phantom menace because maul's rage clouded his reaction timing
I dont think Maul was necessarily angry during this fight but instead careless and arrogant in thinking that he had succeeded by killing Qui Gon. If he was angry he would have probably finished off this Kenobi.
When you watch the ship that Kenobi comes in on, he comes in on the southern side, so technically, he has the high ground

Sithspawn Jones Jokes on him. Neither Sidious nor Plagueis thought of him as a Sith. Back then, Maul had no ambition and only lived to serve his master (and his master’s master). Still the best lightsaber duel we have seen so far in the Star Wars films.
Much as I appreciate the music...how the heck do you get that? Every fight in Episodes 2-3 beats this one...
Cruallassar especially Anakin v obi-wan
@Cruallassar Eh.. no? Episode 2 had no fight because that puny conflict isn't worthy of being called so, and the fights in Episode 3 were already 'on the path to the Dark Side'. Anakin & Obi-Wan vs. Dooku was alright but not up there, and Anakin vs. Obi-Wan was unbelievable and completely idiotic, clearly made for the cheapest and most common fans who value "cool" above quality.
Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon vs. Darth Maul is the best lightsaber battle in the prequels, unmatched. Probably even better than Luke vs. Vader in Episode 6, which I deem the best in the originals.
So at least Liam Neeson can be proud of that.
You're all idiots it was rey vs snoke in TLJ right before she killed kylo
Anakin VS Obi-Wan's duel is laughing haha...

Gotta admit... a THOUSAND years of believing the sith were extinct... two Jedi that only knew about them through the academy and legend were fairly prepared for this duel. Even though they outnumbered Maul two to one, the master was defeated. Another comment said that Maul was focused on Qui-Gon and kept pushing off Obi-Wan like he was a nuisance; not taking him seriously. Almost as if he was intending to break the spirit of the student by killing his master right in front of him.
Not quite, there is a bit more to it, take this passage from the book, it sums it up nicely i think.
Qui-Gon had met his match. The Sith Lord he and Obi - Wan battled was more than his equal in weapons training, and he had the advantage of being younger and stronger. Qui-Gon was nearing sixty; his youth was behind him and his strength was beginning to diminish. His edge now, to the extent that he had one, came from his long experience and intuitive grasp of how an adversary might employ a lightsaber against him.
Darth Maul was a warrior in his prime, never to be any better, his powers at their apex. In addition, he was driven by his messianic hatred for and disdain of the Jedi Knights, the enemies of the Sith for millennia. He had worked and trained all his life for this moment, for a chance to meet a Jedi Knight in combat. It was an added bonus that he was able to engage two.
While it might seem as if the Jedi were driving him before them, it was the Sith Lord who was controlling the struggle. Wheeling and spinning, leaping and somersaulting with astonishing ease, their enemy was taking them with him, drawing them on to a place of his own choosing.
Then Darth Maul caught Obi-Wan off balance and with a powerful kick knocked the Jedi completely over the railing. Taking advantage of the Sith Lord's assault on Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon forced Darth Maul over the railing as well. Down the Sith Lord tumbled, landing hard on a catwalk several levels below Obi-Wan. The force of the fall or perhaps the unexpectedness of it left him visibly stunned, and Qui-Gon leapt down after him, sensing a chance to put an end to things. The Jedi Master went swiftly, legs and arms pumping, lightsaber flashing. He was worn and battered by now, close to exhaustion, but the Sith Lord was on the defensive at last, and he did not want to give him a chance to regroup.
@@ZeroRyoko Good analysis. I'd add, that yes Qui Gon was past prime & weakened. He was against a prime time warrior hxxx bent on revenge. Plus Maul had the double bladed light-sabre, which is a tough thing to fight against. I learned Kenjutsu. A double sword would be a tough thing to fight against with only a single blade.
Also recall that right before the fatal stage of the duel, Qui Gon had done a quick deep meditation. I think he knew he would die & that this would bring Obi Wan forward to becoming the master he was born to be.
The first sith to reveal himself to the jedi after a thousand years...
This fight will always be my favorite out of all of them:
Maul with his badass double-blade lightsaber, the intense build-up after the gate opens, and this masterpiece of music...

When all the OLDER Star Wars fans were like: "Darth Maul couldn't have survived being cut in half and that fall. Oh and the cartoons didn't happen at all." Prequels had the best soundtrack. Many people hate them but, we cannot deny that Duel of fates and The Battle of the Heroes are a real masterpiece.
Awesome Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace Duel of the Fates Suite Video.
Music changes movies in so many ways. For example take your favorite happy, sad, dramatic, etc. movie scene and remove the music. The entire movie becomes numb of all mood and feeling. Good movies are just a big joke without the soundtracks. John Williams is EXTREMELY talented at what he does, and has changed the way people look at movies, and make soundtracks. He has worked on many iconic movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Superman, Indiana Jones, Home Alone, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, The Terminal, and son many more. If John Williams ever sees this I just want to say thank you for changing my life in a way no other music has.

For those critical of the prequels, it's not the actors' fault. They worked with what they were given. They worked with what they were told to work with. It all has to do with the writers and director.
If you replay the first two seconds over and over again, it transforms into something very happy and victorious sounding haha
I consider this song not only Maul's but also Qui-Gon's and Obi-Wan's song. Darth Maul's theme to me, is the one when he reaches Tatooine at dawn, almost a silent theme, that to me is his main theme, this one is Maul's, Qui's and Obi's theme because they were together when this theme started, that's why it's called Duel of Fates.
