Duel of the Fates
From the Phantom Menace
Composed by John Williams
In June 2017, The Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) aired a concert called “Galaxymphony” performed by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra /DR SymfoniOrkestret, the two choirs Hymnia and Camarata with various soloists conducted by Anthony Hermus.
The concert was hosted by legendary TV host Jakob Stegelmann and featured music from a variety of sci-fi movies including Star Wars.
Galaxymphony is an original production by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

in 100-200 years John Williams will be consider to be in the same room as Mozart or Beethoven in the eyes of people, that's a fact.
A lot of people already do. :-)
I took an understanding music class last semester and he is already a large part of that class.
Indeed.
Hans Zimmer next to him too
Hold it right there pal, he's great but that's FAR from enough for being equal to Beethoven or Mozart
@@Soeeasy didn't say equal, i said in the same room, and let's face it is not like our Age has that much to offer in terms of music or other art forms
I knew a professional choral director in college (fairly well known in the US) who remarked that if this piece hadn't been written for a movie, it would be regarded as one of the best pieces of the past 200 years.
Shawn Pitman as someone who doesn’t know much why does the fact that it was made for a movie prevent such recognition?

10/10 regardless. Fuck their superficial standards; this is music.
very few people think that's i'm sure of it, most Music OST are better than any top 100 chart and that's just a fact.

I HATE YOU
I think you underestimate my French horn
People don't like The Phantom Menace but it gave us what I consider to be the definitive climactic lightsaber duel theme.
There is no lightsaber fight without this theme. It is heresy.
Well , i liked The Phantom Menace and all the prequels...hate ep.7-9 though.
People loves TPM nowdays (Sorry for my english)
everyone loves to hate on new starwars movies sadly

You actually gotta give episode 7 some credit though. It was good. Rian Johnson threw out all the plot lines during Episode 8. Even the ones Kathleen Kennedy told him to use. He just did what he wanted to do, make Star Wars a “haha funny woah plot twist heaven!”

2:36 Has always been my favourite section of this piece. I can just picture the most intense duel in the history of the galaxy happening whilst this plays in the background.
This is John Williams crown jewel of his career if you ask me. Absolutely perfect and epic beyond comprehension.

John Williams the best composition of all time the G.O.A.T
As much as The Phantom Menace is hated, and in many ways, justifiably, there will always be one scene in the film that will be considered a classic, and absolutely THE BEST Lightsaber Duel of all-time: Qui-Gon Jin/Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Maul. The entire duel is one incredibly choreographed and amazingly shot scene! There has never been and never will be another Lightsaber battle like that one. From the moment Darth Maul ignites that amazing double bladed lightsaber, to the clash between Maul and Kenobi after Qui-Gon is struck down, the entire scene exudes "Star Wars"! I can sit there and watch that whole scene and still get chills up my spine! Darth Maul was completely underutilized and should have been the "menace" that bated the Jedi at every turn throughout the trilogy! One of the greatest "evil" characters in all of Star Wars!
Dooku vs Kenobi, Anakin and finally Yoda is up there too.
Anakin vs. Kenobi is a close second
I can assure you, there's more of that in the clone wars. Its probably some of the best star wars I've ever seen
Yes!! When they are separated by the light wall and Qui-Gon Jin sits to meditate. I can't man. That shit gets me every time
If you get the chance, watch the Disney+ series on the making of The Mandalorian. Near the end of the 2nd episode, Dave Filoni tells the table of how George enlightened him to what the Duel of the Fates is really about, and how it ties in with everything from Episode 1 to 6.
The director is surely having a nice time with such an epic theme.

The skill and talent of these musicians is unbelievable, when you're in the movies, you don't understand the effort put into the music, that gives you the feelings you get...amazing talent!!
Especially the strings, particularly at 2:31. Some of the players are putting their whole bodies into playing, while others are completely focused.

Now that I've seen the latest 3 garbage movies, I appreciate the prequels so much more. Regardless, this is such a powerful piece.

dfdhgtrss212 man you must be a liberal
dfdhgtrss212 I would take some whiny man child that doesn’t like sand or high ground over some Mary Sue who copied the original trilogy
@@tatteredtrash4322 I used to hate the prequels just because everyone hated them (and yes, they were bad, Jar-Jar makes me want to commit physical violence or arson), but then the MEMES happened. They made me watch them again and turn it into something fun, and watching them again made me see that yes, the acting was pretty bad, the dialogue was wanting, there was a lot of cringe, but it had a good foundation and story overall (and we got Clone Wars out of it, showing that yes, they can make it good).
The sequels are just a mess, from overpowered characters, making it politicized, disrespecting the originals and even the lore, etc. It's like a messy, bad fanfiction come to life (something that seems to be happening more and more often nowadays, just look at how JK Rowling ruined Harry Potter). And changing directors mid-trilogy certainly did not help things (I mean, what the hell was up with episode 8? It was SO bad). And what's worst of all, is you cannot criticize it. Fans of the sequels do not want to hear any criticism, even if it is perfectly legitimate. My own mother completely shuts me down when I try and simply talk to her about it because she doesn't agree with me.
The prequels are bad, but the fans of the prequels don't get mad when people trash on them. That's part of the fun. And if you look deep enough, you can appreciate them.
Sorry for the rant, I didn't mean to get this carried away, but yeah. I'm passionate about Star Wars.

The repeditive beat of the timpano really pushes the "raw, tribal" feel of this piece. Gives it that intense feel that befits a fight between good and evil.
