Does the mounting plate holes don’t match with the bikes plate that’s why you have to drill holes? I’m thinking of buying aftermarket top box like yours.
Do you think the original thread holes on the bikes plate can be use to mount the bracket? I kinda like that mounting because it doesn’t require a nut under the plate.
@anton6jr unfortunately no. I tried that option first and couldn’t make it line up properly. So I opted to leave the plastic plate on and utilize the wing clamp sent with the top box and ensure they are clamped to metal through the plate for an absolute stout mounting.

They don’t match up to the factory plate. It’s a thinner metal plate and easy to drill. That way you can mount it as far forward or back as you like.
Thanks for clarification. I wonder if all cheaper top boxes are like this. It’s universal type so it might need some tinkering.

Ordered it on Amazon. Been a good box for a bunch of trips now. Lots of storage. Taken more than one fall and no damage so far.
