I had to let so many ants go! This week, I was faced with a very tough decision, due to difficult circumstances happening around me. I explain why, where, and which ants I had to release back into the wild in today's very emotional episode. I felt it was the right decision for the good of the ants. I truly hope you guys can understand my situation, and I apologize if your favourite ant colonies have left the channel and Antiverse. Be safe, everyone! Ant love forever! I dont get it.
I don't know what part of the Philippines he lives in now, but my mom's side of the family live in an area where they just feed their dogs and cats scraps. Lots of strays live outside, too. And I don't think the government would care for pet insects and fish.

@@EricWZ The thing is, the Philippines is a developing country. There's stray dogs and cats on every street and a lot of people are poor. Plus the current president is a terrible person (look up the Terror Bill, the drug war). Animal care is the least of the government's priorities.

@noneya business Well ants are about 14 million times smaller than humans, so their terrariums would be 14 million times larger. The base dimensions of Olympus look to be around 2 feet by 2 feet. 2 times 14 million is 28 million. 1 mile is 5280 feet, so it would be 5303 miles squared. That's 17 times larger than New York. I'm guessing there are about 2 million titan ants, so I would have to split 17 new york cities with just 1/4 the population of New York. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. Oh and free food. Also if u don't want to believe that, he keeps the ants as they would be in the wild. The ants probably don't even know that they are pets.

I can only imagine how much these decisions weighed on your mind. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the greater good and as we’ve seen worldwide it doesn’t make it easy, seem fair or make sense to some but it doesn’t need to. Mikey has always asked for subscribers opinions in weekly polls so maybe we feel more invested but no matter how bummed out *WE* may feel imagine how gutted that these decisions were for Mikey?! My heart breaks for him just as my heart has been heavy as the rest of the World’s these past few months watching entire cities then entire regions then Countries were laid to waste by a horrifying virus that most of us couldn’t ever have imagined in our worst nightmares. The pandemic isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and we *ALL* have had to make heartbreaking decisions over things we’ve taken for granted like the right to travel, visit family, friends, go to schools, eat out, or even to go whenever wherever we want but now we can’t. It’s hard but we all need to support each other and plan ahead for the immediate future. I for one want to remain positive in as much of my life that I *CAN* control which this is one of them! So I’m guessing Mikey is feeling really bummed out, discouraged and heartbroken over having to release his ants back into the wild or rehome them so let’s just send out positive vibes to him and thank him for continuing to make amazing and downright fascinating UA-cam videos of the ant world! I come back after year away from this channel only to find my favourite colony the weaver ants had to be let go :( They were so unique and the queen had such beautiful colouration, I will miss them dearly

The fact that pet supply shops are considered non-essential is insane. Expecting people to let their pets starve or release them is just mental. Lucky I live in a country run more sensible people and pet supply stores are considered essential as animal wellfare is considered very important over here. Limited opening hours compared to the supermarkets but still. We can get our specifics birdfeed, fishfood or feed animals etc to care for our critters
The fact that it's a full on lock down enforced by police and military is insane too. I'm thankful to live in the country and state I do. We have a stay at home advisory (not order), but it's not like anyone is going to stop you from going out (like for a walk??? Damn...) or question why you're out or where you're going. It's not enforced here and they've actually told the cops not to basically leave people alone period unless they get a call or there is a violent situation. Personally, I find this much more prudent than over policing, let alone bringing in the military. But that's not so easy to do here, thankfully. I never thought I'd see marshal law in my lifetime. Thank God I'm not quite living in it myself. Man. I have pets and even now, this scenario is something that never crossed my mind, because pet supplies is essential... I didn't realize just how restricted other areas are even in North America. Sorry if this is a stupid question but could you not have, or why couldn't you, order the necessary supplies online?
Sadly, I will never take my freedom for granted ever again.

Most filipinos are hard to be disciplined.. if no lockdown here, id expect our positive cases here in the Philippines with over 100,000 in a span of a week.. the other day, even though we have a full lockdown in luzon, a guy which first listed as person under investigation (PUI) and then confirmed as positive in covid-19 went to a public wet market in his area.. we even have a senator who is also positive that went to hospital to be with her pregnant wife and he also went to a supermarket too.. thats how undisciplined people here in the Philippines and at the same time our lockdown is not as strict as you probably think it is that's why some guys like them can still go around unnoticed.. so we are grateful with this protocol because its for our own safety but each of us should work together by staying at home.. why walk around? That's crazy.. only opposition to our government administration are the one who always complain about the policies in our country.. and those leftist group who are currently creating chaos, cutting up supplies by burning down a truck full of goods, and undermining poor people to demonstrate a rally and will be paid with foods by these guys just to keep our government in a very vulnerable state.. for now, we have almost 4,000 confimed cases but if we did the same thing as western countries, we are probably much worse than italy or probably U.S. ..
And for your question about the supplies ordering online, under the guideline of our lockdown, there will be no air, land, and sea transportation so you cant order online.. only foods are allowed to deliver to our home..
Aw its really sad to see them go but I hope you can regain them in due time. May luck be on your side.
