I think what's scary is thinking why Thor needed to personally go down and attack these mortals. (At least I think they are.) Instead of sending lesser goons like Magni, Modi (if the two are still alive in this storyboard) or Thrud or heck even some Valkyries or even some Einherjar are probably enough, Odin decides to send his best man to deal with some lowly mortals, so they must've really pissed Odin off.

No it isn't. This Thor looks like the one revealed at the end of GOW.
@@mohammadsaleem5990 I'd say it's a mix of both. The one at the end of GOW was much thinner than this one, and felt too Hollywood-esque.
Honestly, I personally am fine with the GOW:R concept version. I think if he was given a bit more muscle definition and armor, he'd be perfect. Maybe add some gray-white streaks to his beard for extra measure. But I don't think the concept version is that bad.
@@Spectralyzed Nah, I think the GOW version of Thor still looked pretty big to me when I looked at it again
@@Spectralyzed he wasn't thinner. The way the camera moved made him seem thinner. If you view his in game model, you can see he's quite fat as well. And how is that Thor Hollywood esque? He looks nothing like any Hollywood version I've ever seen.
Having this Thor in the next God of War game would be nice, but you know what would be even better? Having a game where he's the one you play as.
I mean Thor does look like this in GOW
@@ogvamp2 and he looks kinda like this in the actual myth.
@@bloodangel19 No evidence for his appearance exists, other than (I think) red hair.
@@HAMZA-OLYMPUS And his fierce eyes, plus the fact that he is the strongest man alive. Look up the strongest human today, they have a very similar build
@@bloodangel19 Except he is not a God not a man ffs.
No, not similar. They have fucking muscles, not this obese shit.
Interesting how they reserved the “Hold hand out to recall” for Kratos and gave Thor this fancy “Snap fingers to tell Mjolnir where to go”.
During one transition from their opening battle, Thor summons the hammer from his waist to float in front of his face to block an attack from Kratos.
It's shown that he can recall it without snapping his fingers (when he was drunk he didn't snap but it did come to him) so it might be implied he just does it for 'showmanship' or something
Might have ust just forgotten to add it in
Still a really cool detail
@@nimifisch.6134i like the idea that snapping his finger make the hammer come back faster, like when he block kratos axe in their first fight
If Cory decides to make the game a one-shot again we will never see this.
@@gavinmorris1990 Hey dude, you have no proof for that, please stop spreading that misinformation
This actually was in one shot except the ending
@@baldur9591 yeah but we will see the game through Kratos and Atreus' perspective not Thor's. For this scene to happen Kratos must be here. Which is unlikely.
Nuhash Tarafdar he’s right though
I mean maybe they could do something like Climax where the camera take isn’t connected to just one person but more follows people, like Thor could fight Kratos and the camera would follow him to go do this
He seems like a calm person who can be easily reasoned with.
I have a feeling he'll be this brutal in Ragnarok!
Thor did the exact move on the archer to someone in a bar fight in GOW Ragnarok
@@TheWarriorLordyeah he did!!
He wasn't
a better tittle: "Historically" accurate THOR.
This did age well!
@@YisraelPrince new GoW did an accurate Thor at least
When Snorri Sturlunson said Thor was fat?
No history involved, he is a fictional character.
@@eddoh2701 No they fucking didn’t. There is zero evidence that Thor is fat. Gluttonous, but not fat. Either way, TRASH character design, they spent the entirety of GoW4 hyping him up only to make him fucking laughable man-pig.
My lord, if only… This Thor would of made Thanos piss his pants. We’ll have to see just how powerful he truly is. Kratos can’t hold back this time.
Whelp, turns out Kratos was fully capable of still holding back lol
@@EnbyOccultist
Ah, y'think he can only go all out if he goes infinite Spartan Rage?
The rune on his hand says "thou art fucked" 🤣
You predicted how Thor would look on God of War, this is just fantastic.
No he fucking didn’t???? This video came out a year after the game.
@@HAMZA-OLYMPUS I'm pretty sure they meant the new one that's coming out with the concept art that was revealed.
@@christiantorres7866 BITCH, this is how he looked in the 4th game’s ending, not the trash concept ‘art’ of September 2021
@@HAMZA-OLYMPUS the original comment probably was talking about the new one whether he's right or not
@Louis Hutchinson He's not a calm and reasonable person
We don’t know a thing about anyone in this scene but Thor. Props to the old guys men being loyal enough to attack the literal god of Thunder.
0:07 "Eeeeeepic rap battles of history! Thor Odinsson. Versus! Some random soldiersssss! Begin!"
For a moment I thought this was some edgy How to Train Your Dragon storyboard. This is so freakin' good.
I hope that those shards in thors head are in reference to the story where a giant fell on him. Because that is a detail that is not well known and never gets attention in any of his depictions.
Same
I really like the attention to detail in the fact that Thor simply gives Mjolnir to that one soldier and it crushes him because its so heavy.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was the after credit scene of a kick ass new show I'm about to binge.
We need a whole series like this!!!
I can't even begin to imagine how long it might have taken to animate this
"I told him everything. What more does Odin want?
"...I Thorgor💀"
He Thorgor 💀
I like the addition of the whetstone lodged in his head, great attention to mythological accuracy, keep up the great work, gotta be one of the best animations I’ve seen this month!
Well done. It blows my mind that this came out BEFORE the actual game and still is exactly like how he is in said game.
That is the Thor I want in God Of War 5. Not the blond thor from Marvel or the God is Dead comic. Awesome work. How long did this take for you to make?
Edit: Saw the new God of War trailer and Thor looks so awesome!
Marvel thor is not based on mythology...in God of war 5 the character design of thor would be based on mythology...so it's safe to assume that thor would be redhead fat drunkard just like he was in the mythology...
Of it's not gonna be MCU Thor. It's Marvel version. Santa Monica will make their own.
this aged surprisingly well
Actually aged very well
@@aj7179 you predicted it perfectly
This guy either works at Santa Monica Studio, or can foresee the future. How did he get Thor this spot on
0:35 HOLY SHIT! In this animation they kept the stone rocks in his head that mimir told us about in the first game when Thor killed that stone giant that fell on him
this is fan art ? I thought it was some leaked GoW animated story board, THIS IS AWESOME !!
I love how you kept true to the game by making sure the camera follows everything in one continuous shot without cutting.
I think what's scary is thinking why Thor needed to personally go down and attack these mortals. (At least I think they are.)
Instead of sending lesser goons like Magni, Modi (if the two are still alive in this storyboard) or Thrud or heck even some Valkyries or even some Einherjar are probably enough, Odin decides to send his best man to deal with some lowly mortals, so they must've really pissed Odin off.
This is actually the Thor you can expect in GoW: Ragnarok. Viscous, powerful, and bigger body structure. Hopefully he's got a bit more clothes on, than what we saw in the released teaser concept of him, but either way, he's gonna be a tough BOY. I hope that he's very similar to this stunning animation, great job!
What a dignified and well mannered gentleman
Yooooo this was incredible! The choreography, the animation itself, and the fact that you did it all in one take just like the game! I love how Thor is on the heavier side, just like the version in Ragnarok. But this was only released in 2019, so that's some really good attention to detail on your part. This is just fantastic!
0:22 we not going to talk about how horrific a concept that is
Damn, that is actually really close to what we got in the game! Amazing 👏
When the fan art is better than what we actually got:
No it’s not, are you high?
@@onebitedino1765 He didn't do anything in gowr, he had two fights and never did anything remotely important in the plot. We don't even see him do anything close to this level of brutality in the game! Everything that was hyped up about him as an imposing threat in the 2018 game wasn't even delivered on.
@@ohyeayea68 Again, are you high? Because your reply just convinced me you are, not the opposite. “Didn’t do anything” fought Kratos, stopped Heimdall, helped Atreus, plus the Bar scene, did you even play the game? He didn’t do anything “important”to the plot(which is completely false btw) that’s the point. Odin is the one who does everything to push the plot forward because he’s the mastermind and Thor is the pawn. Thor isn’t involved without Odin’s say so, which is a core part of his character. Who cares if he wasn’t brutal, that shit would serve no purpose; GOW is a Video Game dude.“He wasn’t an imposing threat” he wasn’t imposing when he fought Kratos? Or threatened Heimdall? Bruh, lay of the weed, its bad for you.

This is the coolest thing in the world and you deserve so many more views on it
After seeing this i wish this was the Thor we got in god of war Ragnarok.
Too bad we just got an mcu version of god of war ragnarok, where everything is easily resolved, there is no tension or build up, and most of the plot is based on “subverting expections”.
I found this video in Andres Salgados channel ughhh I wasn’t aware your video was the original I just assumed it was him but hey i posted a link to your channel in my description bro ❤️☺️

Wow. Every so often you come across something that is just so well made and perfect, you can’t even describe it to people you just have to show them. This is one of those times. Subbed.
Not to downplay the Thor we eventually got in the game. But I am a little disappointed we didn't get this version of the character.

Thanks to Mythology Guy, I only now discovered that Thor's hammer is just really really heavy
Bro predicted GOW Ragnarok Thor
Well, he seems like a very calm and reasonable person...
i like how you added the touch of where the symbol on his left hand glows really adds detail like ifs it’s a call to mjolnir
I like how the animator (even though it was for action of the scene) captured the norse ethos, of being fearless in the face of certain death.
A neat little detail I love about this that nobody pointed out or have noticed before, is that like on God of War 2018, it's all one single shot without any cuts.
First guy didn't know how lucky he was just getting ejected from that fight...
Man I wish he had that voice in Ragnarok
this aged well....for GoW: Ragnarok
The runes at 0:38 say "Thou art fucked," lol
Marvel: didn't go for the head
Norse thor:did go for the head
You should send this to Cory on twitter.
If we get a Thor side campaign, even as a dlc, I would have so much fun with Mjolnir if I got to drop it on my enemies and recall it while grappling them
I’m just now noticing this! The runes on Thor’s hand say “Thou art fucked”!
Whoever voices Thor in this is a genius. He sounds deep and menacing while keeping the accent was a remarkable addition. Now I want him to voice Thor in GOW Ragnarok.
We got Ryan Hurst. Even better!
I like the attention paid to the GoW details about his appearance, or what we had the time. The stone bits in his being from Hungnir when Thor bashed his head in like how Mimir tells us
