The name Dolphin Kottu was invented during the days of final war in Srilanka. Srilankan law and order enforced kottu stalls not to make noice in night time as during those days people were frightened and the sound of koththu blowing may end up creating a scary situation. So, Kottu stalls were forced to create a new way to keep their business running and that's how they recreated the kottu with Pan. Instead of making Kottu in kottu trays, large pans were used to make Kottu. So, when the Kottu master throws the kottu in air while preparing it in the pan, it looks like a "dolphin jumping out of ocean and falling back in to it." Just remind the moment when the person who prepares Kottu, throwing it in the air from Pan. That's how the name was created. Pillawoos Hotel became the first to create Dolphine Kottu during 2009. Now even after the war, we still love Dolphin Kottus and keep making them. Kottu found a new dimension through a pressure situation.

Yes it makes in pool of curry and pop up roti pieces from pool like dolphins ..
Thats why its called dolphin kottu..
I know I know I was making a joke 🤣
It's made out of paratha instead of regular roti.

Thank you for watching. I make my videos for everyone to enjoy, local and foreigner. :)
One thing for sure we've learnt after seeing your videos and that is "BARGAINING" .thank you
😄😁
Dale make sure you try the elephant house cream soda this time! Also try go to "the station restaurant and bar!"
I will try to remember. Those fancy bars all play music and that will get my video kicked off UA-cam for copyright.
Dale Philip oh fair enough, definitely try the cream soda though, don't forget!!
Yep... Definetly try the Cream soda( elephant house )... But don't buy the low sugar content one... Atleast try medium sugar one!!!!
@@Dale_Philip another suggestion would be ginger beer of elephant house if you haven't tried it before. and no its not a alcoholic beverage :)
Travelling alone is the best Dale!! Hope you liked our country 😍😘
THANKS MAN for comming back trusting our nation.. 💟
Great Speeching. Great Bargaining. Great instincts about things.

Thank you. I'm trying not to be a foolish tourist. :)
He took some locals back with the sinolese language speaking skills. That guy he spoke to getting off the bus had his night made.
Genius Work. Indeed. Every travellers must do that 👍
Im from Kandy, LK. But First Cheese Kottu tasted in Colombo. 😁 Better taste than the other varieties of Kottu.
Dolphin Kottu has a different taste & Its not made with 🐬. Really good one. Better to try next time of your visit.
@@KasunJayasuriyaKZ if you want to work on your English with a second language instructor and speaker let me know on WhatsApp. I'm trying to organize school groups so it makes sense monetarily.
This mans pro traveler,

As a Sri Lankan watching you tour around Srilanka from a tourists perspective is very amusing XD but you seem to be handling it very well, you have been here before after all. If you want to see or need a recomendation about somthing id love to help.
This is a great video, thanks dale. It’s given me a good idea of how to buy things and interact with people in Sri Lanka. Going to Sri Lanka next month, first time visiting a non English speaking country (even though it seems everyone speaks english). Looking forward to flexing my bargaining skills and eating some kottu
Brilliant. You'll be fine in Sri Lanka. Education there is free to everyone and they start learning English from an early age.
You are always welcome to Sri Lanka. Come and visit us soon .😍
Hope you had a lovely time in Sri Lanka. Actually almost every citizen in Sri Lanka can speak at least two languages. Obviously the mother tongue Sinhala plus Tamil, English etc.
Great banter with the locals dale, great to hear your Scottish accent, brilliant vid m8
The "Part of England"? comment cracked me up, lol. I'm an Englishman living in New York and one of my best friends is Scottish, so it is a joke that never gets old 😁 All the best and I look forward to following you on your trip.
Hahaha. Thanks for following Richard 😎👍
I think the guy really means: "Part of the UK. Eh?"
Most Sri Lankans use "England" to mean "UK".
Just found your channel. Love your style and humbleness. Cheers
Thanks H C
Ohh man you’re a good bargainer 😉

Nice to see Andrew Robertsson vlogging in Sri Lanka :)

Mad lad 😂😂

I should have asked him if Sri Lanka was part of India :)
@@Dale_Philip lol!
Scotland isa part of UK right?
@@Dale_Philip lol
@@RanulHashika there is Britain, Ireland, and Scotland. The Scottish are the most independent of the three, although the various local governments have consolidated into a democracy. This is my take of the political situation through working with the maidsafe project, following developments on the isle of man, and brexit.
Watching your vlog couple days i felt like I'm gonna start talking with that accents! Yer man need to travel more soon 💪
Welcome back! Thanks for coming to visit us!!!
