Alcorn had something to prove and they proved it. Never thought I see SU take an L to Alcorn. SU sounds spectacular. I love the lord sounds like a arrangement from heaven. Alcorn was on it though. I have to give credit where its due.

Song selection is what got my attention from Alcorn. When you play 5th quarter you do what Alcorn did minus rap tunes. They really for zero quarter....get your juices flowing. Alcorn played rap tunes...I know, but they played something that caught my attention and it sounded darn good too.
Definitely song selections! Southern sounds great but hate their choice of songs in this battle. Alcorn sounds great to me as well and had better choice of songs. So, Dayvon Savage that's how. This my opinion and I'm still rolling with it. Alcorn with the HUGE win

Very true,, I been screaming this to Southern all year about those wack ass songs and trying to be all prim and proper playing, They didn't listen and Alcorn came in their stadium and bust their ass. it was a Tragedy because they had the band, but no matter how monsterous your band is, if you're not using it to it's fullest potential song wise, you will get handled by those with a less stronger band who is more aggressive. Alcorn proved this

I finally get what a lot of Jukebox fans are saying, and will admit I thought a lot of y’all were abandoning the Juke, but people are use to the aggressive Southern. Even though I don’t think have been “Dethroned” they are still one of the top HBCU bands. They just have to find a way to bring that aggression back, still give them time.

I like both bands , I'm speaking as a former music major from SU and a musician of several years. Both bands sound great, but i'd encourage everyone on here who thinks that SU has "fallen off" to take the volume factor out of the equation. I'm listening for enunciation , clarity, ,articulation, and intonation and right now I have to say I have NEVER heard SU sound more awesome than they do now. The playbook is a little dated but who caresm, The point here is that loudness a secondary to a clean crisp sound. Keep it up #SU!

I’m not a fan of the song selections from SU, they sound great but these selections are not only repetitive but to say this is the 5th there was no type of aggression from the Juke. I love my school but the W goes to LCorn. Don’t know what’s going on but this year has been...different.

Remaining on top is hard work. The underdog with something to prove, "it ain't how many you got, it's who you got," "you don't need many to do a plenty," attitude of the Jukebox is what earned them the respect as a top band. They are just now beginning to enjoy the fruits of several decades of labor such as brand new uniforms, customized instruments, license plates, a widely respected brand name and of course NUMBERS! I grew up watching a much smaller Jukebox DESTROY bands more than twice their size! Like a drop of blood in shark infested waters, it becomes dangerous when your opponent assesses you as having grown comfortable with your top dog status. Consistent grind creates consistent greatness.The guys on the band staff are smart men and may have chosen to entertain the old heads at homecoming with no regard for the other band. I want to think there was more to gain from entertaining the alumni than from smashing Alcorn, which I think would've been easy for them to do. Either way, I believe they will use this experience as something to build upon.
My dude...I feel you. For whatever reason, the Jukebox didn't get up for this. I've never seen Southern take the passive way out. It reminded me of a MEAC band. The S has always been like the great white shark from Hell, ready to devour anything. I just have a hard time believing that these dudes don't have a book. It's harder to believe that they wouldn't open it up if they had one. Hey bruh... call me clueless because I don't know what to think.
Southern is nice and clean as always but song selection was bad for 5th Quarter. They also had some tempo issue with I Love Lord in the beginning but pulled it together. Alcorn didn't let down, and had a better song sections! Alcorn get's the W for Energy & Effort !
