Why do I get rading all over the place. I have the pink machine and dont understand the readings always going down when I start to do my 5 to 7 readings/
Thank you for your question! Blood pressure readings can vary due to a range of factors. It’s common for blood pressure to be higher initially-especially if the animal is nervous-and then to decrease as they calm down. This may be why you see a gradual change over a series of measurements. Other factors, like body positioning, movement, and even environmental conditions, can also affect readings. If you’re still seeing unexpected fluctuations, please feel free to reach out to us at techsupport@suntechmed.com for more assistance.
How do I check my cat's blood pressure with a high-end human sphygmomanometer? I have a pediatric cuff, but I think it's likely too large for a cat. It works well for goats, sheep, etc.
We recommend you use an automated blood pressure monitor with appropriately sized cuffs intended for veterinary use. If your sphygmomanometer uses a 7/8" diameter blood pressure hose, you can convert it to use these veterinary cuffs that will fit most companion animals. www.amazon.com/Universal-Veterinary-Blood-Pressure-Monitors/dp/B07885JQMX?ref_=ast_sto_dp

The SunTech vet monitors have been validated by third-party researchers at top veterinary schools, showing accuracy when compared to intra-arterial BP in cats, dogs, and horses. Additionally, the SunTech vet monitors have motion tolerance, allowing for a high rate of successful BP readings and a monitor that is very easy to use on animals that are not under sedation.
Hi @J J, You don't want to put any pressure on the cuff . If you are using the bottom of the cuff to support the paw the readings might change due to the additional pressure being placed on the cuff. Hope this information helps!
Hello, thank you for your question! At around 0:22 and 0:35 in the video, you can see us placing the cuff snugly on a cat. The cuff should be secure enough to stay in place, but not so tight that it causes discomfort. It’s a good idea to account for fur thickness while ensuring a gentle fit. If your cat seems uncomfortable, you might also try using a different limb or even the tail, as this can sometimes make them more comfortable. Hope this helps, and feel free to reach out with any more questions!
@ thank you. I did watch again and get better at it, until my kitty died ☹️😭 I think he had a brain tumor, not high blood pressure. But you’re video did still help me while I was monitoring and caring for him. Thanks
