For those who are asking, penny has no breed, in Brasil we call them "vira-lata", in literal translation is something like 'can flipper" or 'tin flipper', cause they are easily seen on the streets homeless and trying to get food from people's garbage. But as they have no breed, they are very strong and has a very good immune system, that means they live a lot and don't get easily sick. That's my favorite kind of dog to have, they're really smart and healthy. So, if you're wondering why they live on the streets, that's because there's a lot of poor people here that can't take their pets to Vet to get castrated. And the government doesn't seems to care enough too. But anyway, it's not something like crazy and shit, sometimes there's just one or two dog's on sight and they're always very sweet too xD
In very fearful patients, do you have any advice about differences in drug uptake such that a 'routine' anaesthetic becomes rocky. A young female cat, admitted for spay, was so scared, she went straight to fight mode. The vet decided to quad (Midazolam, Dexmetetomidine, Methadone, Ketamine) her in a crush cage. She had an IV placed as soon as she was ready but then needed Alfaxan for intubation as the quad wore off really quickly. During surgery, her heart rate was high - 200, climbing to 280, such that the volatile agent (Isofluorane) was increased to 2. Usually, with a quad, we don't need to use any Alfaxan and the volatile agent is usually on 0.5, sometimes up to 1.0. It was as though the drugs hardly touched her. I wonder if catecholamines somehow blocked the uptake of the drugs. Any thought or a troubleshooting video would be most appreciated.
... SLOPPY ... JUST MEASURE THE "CIRCUMFERENCE" OF HER LEG AND CALCULATE THE "CUFF-SIZE" AT 40%-OF THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF HER LEG AT THE SPOT YOU PLAN TO PLACE THE CUFF ...
It's not rocket science that you have to perform a math equation in order to determine 40% (tip: it's a little less than 50% of the width) She's not sloppy at all. She seems very comfortable and offers useful tips. I'm sure with more practice, you'll gain confidence in choosing your cuff size by site

This cat must've had a fighting spirit of unreal proportions!
How long did she last upon administration of the quad?
Sorry. I see that the vet declined.
I was told to only clean the crystal with alcohol. Is that not ok? Usually I'll put some alcohol on dry gauze and clean the crystal that way.
