    The way she evolved from a tadpole while running to touch/destroy the green monster made me think of how sometimes you have to readjust your entire life in order to deal with a problem. Like she was starting over. I’m assuming that wasn’t the intention, but I thought about how my life started over (in a way) when I finally found the right medication and got therapy. Stopped using social media and started talking to different people. Gained a whole new relationship with my family.
    Edit: the black beam “shooting” her in the head at the beginning is the source of her trauma/problem, I just realized
    I enjoy watching this, I’m able to understand things better and notice new things since I’m older. Really neat experience.

      Just rediscovered this video nearly 10 years after it was originally posted, and without knowing had been enjoying even more of Uekusa's work. Between a crow is white, FLCL Alternative, and Digimon Cyber Sleuth, it really feels like I've grown up alongside this work. Thank you so much for this beautiful video, it still fills me with wonder!

    I think it's about dealing with one's problems. She has some massive issue that she's been trying to deal with her whole life, represented by the giant monster. It's constantly in her head, eating at her, and she keeps avoiding it (walking from left to right). She comes across smaller problems (represented by the other animals and creatures starting with the dog). Overcoming these problems give her strength and give her hope that she can overcome her problem, so she faces it (Walking from right to left). But she is always unable to, being blown away and forced to face it all over again. Eventually as she deals with life and grows more and more as a person, all the problems she's overcome finally help her overcome her biggest one finally being able to push past the storm of attacks and dealing with her issue, and in the end it implies that it too will help her grow and evolve (the monster's corpse growing butterfly wings). Problems may seem evil and malicious when we're facing them but as we grow and move forward as people they're what truly help us become something special. I wish I could go more into my thoughts on the video but that's the rough idea I have on it.

      Three years later, but this should be a decent answer. The song in this video is Miss Parallel World by Soutaiseiriron, which you can find on Spotify (And probably other music streaming services). Their music has a distinct and refreshing style!
      The animation is by Wataru Uekusa, who had done many other music videos. He's done a couple for the band Karasu wa Masshiro (A Crow Is White) for their songs fake!fake! and HIMITSUスパーク. He's also worked on a few anime credits sequences, with his most notable probably being from Punchline in 2015. A more detailed rundown on his works can be found on his MyAnimeList page here: myanimelist.net/people/20609/Wataru_Uekusa

  • @Curlysamurai
    @Curlysamurai 10 років тому +14

    I can think of two interpretations of the green creature.
    It could be a person she met when she was young and couldn't forget him(?) as she grew up. Meeting new people, finding new hobbies still didn't obliterate the thought of that person, so she tried to destroy all memories and yet, in the end he reappears.
    The second possibility is that the creature is her mind - confused, sometimes wanting to destroy society. She is trying to find her place and as she matures she fights the bad thoughts.

    • @LeafyGreenDA
      @LeafyGreenDA 9 років тому +10

      Curlysamurai Alternatively, it could be of an idea. Of a concept that someone creates? And the idea - the giant green thing - takes over the person's every attempt to create something new; it always overshadows. No matter how hard she tries to make something better, it always looks smaller and insignificant, always compared to what she had created once - something she tried to kill off even. The alternate ideas she comes up with look similar to it and aren't getting the attention she wants, and it's hard NOT to think about it.
      In the end, she triumphs with everything she put her heart into, managing to create a newer and better idea, and finally putting the old one to rest.
      Then again, I could be projecting gahaha
      On the other hand, the green monster could be some bullshit trend or idea that everyone notices and she's trying to triumph over it with something she thinks is better. Takes her the entirety of her childhood to actually manage, though.

    • @darkhearteddrizzle4393
      @darkhearteddrizzle4393 9 років тому +1

      +Shakes Shigsm (貴腐人) to add on to your idea of a trend, I think it is more of a fandom she is trying to escape. All of her ideas come from an outside source, but as she grows up,she tries to escape the shadows of that fandom sorts and be original. she finally manages it to create her own ideas, even though it takes along time and she finally escapes from the shadow someone else created

    i think the green creature is a bad thought and the other creatures that are better thoughts, but she forces herself to think about them while the green thing (bad thoughts) come to her mind more and more and more and she can't quit thinking about it, when she finally reaches it, the bad thoughts are gone for a moment but they return just a little while later and even when she is surrounded by nice things she can only think about something sad

    I personally think it's about how the girl has little to no thought about the world and accepts it, as she grows more and more thoughts come to mind, up infill I gets to the point where she doesn't care or want to accept the world she is in (probably why things were monochromatic in one shot) then the learns to accept the world for what it is and tries to do her best to be part or fix the world she is in on the last scene

    my personal interpretation of this video is that she's dealing with a learning disability, specifically ADD. The way that she's kicking back and forth in her chair until she falls over is fidgeting (people with ADD have trouble sitting still) , and the scenes with the soccer ball hitting her suggests she isn't paying attention to her surroundings. Also, all of the animals following her around signify the way her mind never stops thinking and can never focus on what she's supposed to be doing. Maybe the weird monster in the background is a visual representation of her disability? It might be learning in general. It seems to me that a lot of the things in this video are visual metaphors for struggling to succeed in a structured and organized society like japan with a disorganized disorder like ADD. Idk.

    I think is what's happening is that the girl is having hallucinations based on every day things. The explosions come from her cigarets, the green creatur looks like grass so it's from grass, and the tail-less dog thing comes from the dog that she saw. She can't get away from the (which is why she's so angry about it) and constantly tries to get away. But she's convinced that what she sees is coming from another dimension, a parallel world.

    It seems to be about nicotine addiction, its always on her mind and eating at her thoughts no matter what she tries to think about instead unless she takes a smoke. The final part where she destroys it is reminiscent of a cigarrette burning out, and the green creature is shaped like a cigarrette
