Zephrike The W doesn't even deal damage or provide any sort of buff... How can a dash stack with AP? Besides, the Lich Bane is a poor choice compared to Trinity Force, which has the excact same efftect, just with an AD ratio, that also scales with his basic attacks and other abilities. The only viable AP item on Zed would be Zhonya's with the active.

MrElizhe Said "It's like AP Zed. So strong" Zed has no ap ratios. I said with his W because most people would understand that it does no damage. Or people like Sylvester Persson who has no idea that it was a joke. Tri force is a poor choice for Zed anyway. Meaning you have to take time out of your combo to wait for the Spell Blade passive to come off cooldown meaning you actually kill people slower.
The only TRUE way to build ap on zed, is 6th item DFG. DFG+Botrk=30% of max hp. Meaning during your ult you'll deal an extra 15% of their max hp. and your passive is increased from the DFG active.

Update. Tried toplane cause someone called bot. (no jungler). We fed Fiora (her ult was a pain) but in the end we won. At first I got threats of reports and got honor in the end. haha! Im happy!

8 years later, this song is still a banger, and still relevant. I just encountered a AP Rengar, and I wondered how he got fed. We managed to win the game, but me as ADC did not have fun to get deleted by him every time. As lethality cait, I was our main damage, too.

John Montoya DFG was a major part in any ap rengar build since it provided 10% cdr as well, and boy the added damage on carried is strong, you can't deny that dfg made AP rengar way stronger than without
TheKingduma yes. RIP AP rengar :'(. But now you can buis hextec which active has 40% AP ratio on top of the 160% (double W) AP ratio, where DFG did increase it with 20% which is 192% AP ratio but it did also increase lich bane and the base dmg so its still a nerf

I'm so lonely. The years that passed by can never be returned. I'm now just stuck listening to this song from all those years ago.
Even without DFG it still works. Just go Nashor / Morellonomicon first into Luden - Rabadon - Zhonya - Lich bane, Void Staff in whatever order you preffer.
I go scaling CDR blues and MS quints and rush Nashor. You don't need boots with that build, you have around 420MS with Luden + MS quints + Lichbane and around 450 if you get 3 dragons on top of that, so there's no need for boots. You also get full CDR late game.
The combo I use is 4 stacks, ult, then I use Q, jump on someone WW and squishies should be dead late game, if not you can just kite around or Zhonyas until you get 5 from ultimate and W again. If target STILL isn't dead your regular W cooldown should be back in like a second or 2, so you can W again. That's 590 base damage + 3.7 AP ratio if you have Lich bane and 3.85AP ratio if you have nashor too. That's about 3500+ damage late game and you'll kill anything with that, even if they have banshee's.
I just never had a problem killing shit without DFG, you just don't have a huge power spike that early on because they removed a broken item.

I played AP Rengar once before his W nerfs, he gets easily zoned and is useless untill his W is off cool down, he can never kill a tank only squishies. AD Rengar can burst just as fast, even faster especially if you know how to 3 Q.
Got one in my team twice yesterday, and despite his high sustain he is the most useless thing i've ever seen, unless he get fed I guess.
