Thank you so much. My daughters 2006 Impala with 229,000 miles was fixed in 15 minutes for under $100. I ordered the throttle body online based solely off his video; and it did the trick. Thanks for the simple tip of disconnecting the battery, I probably would have forgotten to do that. TIP...make sure you have a deep well 10 mm socket. The fact that I have to mention that, means that this is a fix that a novice can do. Thanks again!
Very glad to hear it, Chris! Thanks for the deep socket tip as well. You're right, this is something just about anyone can tackle without issue. Take care!
Wow. Simple fix. 175k on 2005 impala. Also, 175 on 2004 envoy and same exact problem. Remove throttle body and clean just as instructed. These quality videos save all of a ton of money. 375 us dollars to replace throttle body. Removed and cleaned Immaculate with. $7 which was 2 cans throttle body cleaner put back together and let computer reset. Runs like new. Thanks!
Thank you to who ever posted this video! Exact same symptoms, on same car and engine were solved in the driveway (in 45 min) instead of a two day trip to the shop, and for only a $125 part. God bless and Merry Christmas!
Dealer replaced my gas pedal assembly on my 2011 impala with 75.650 miles at no cost due to engine power reduced/service traction control/service stability link/check engine light.
DID THIS WORK BECAUSE IVE CHANGED MY THROTTLE BODY AND STILL SAME THIS ENGINE POWER REDUCED/SERVICE STABILITY LINK/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT??????PLEASE HELP 🙏🙏
You usually don't need to replace the entire throttle body, just the throttle body sensor only. All you have to do is take the throttle body off and clean it really good. They even sell a spray can of throttle body cleaner. Then replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) only which is the black part on the side of the throttle body and put it back together. No need to replace the entire throttle body.
I figured as such after inspecting my throttle body but as it turns out, it's $25 cheaper for me to buy the whole throttle body than just the sensor lol
I'm having that problem on my 2007 monte carlo ss 5.3 Question do you have to relearn the throttle body cause I replaced the throttle body but it's still doing the same thing what else could it be
Hello everyone here's an update on our 2009 Chevy Impala Lt. My husband and I have had similar problems with the Reduce Engine Power so he cleaned the Throttle body about 4 times it ran good then he replaced the Throttle Position Sensor and it ran great for a month then it came on again and engine light so we went to get a diagnostic check and the code for the Throttle Peddle Sensor came up so now my husband replaced that so if anyone is going threw this make sure u check everything even the caps for the fluids . I'll give a update later but until then hopefully this problem is resolved with this car 🚗.😀
Hello well here's an update my car ran great for awhile but now when we start it in the morning it has a whistle sound but it goes away and my check engine light came back on so my husband thinks the inject check valve we bought might need to get sent back cuse it might be defective but were getting another dianostic check again if it's something else ill give an update . but for those that has the same problem I hope u get ur car fixed cuse it's a headache.
Rachel Gonzales wasting money replacing all those parts!! Replace plugs and air filter put 1 gallon of laquar thinner in tank with ten gallons of gas till empty! If your car has 80,000 miles you should have replaced the battery already!! But most importantly if you follow manufacturers suggestions in your owners manual you can avoid all these problems!! My 07 implacable has 265,000 miles runs like a Rolex!! I’ve replace battery front hubs water pump
Google 1Aauto.com they have a great video on relearn process for Tb!! As you are not supposed to move flap manually!!! Also once you do the relearn process if problem persist then replace Tb sensor as it may have shorted out!!
Couldn't you just replace the sensor? You can buy one for $35 to $45. A friend of mine had a code for throttle body sensor and he replaced his and the car is running fine. Awesome video. Thanks a lot.
This was a while back, but I believe the throttle body sensor on these comes as part of the throttle body, one piece deal. The same goes for it's counterpart sensor on the accelerator pedal.
I replaced the throttle, pedal sensor after reading the OBDII computer. My next step is to replace the wiring from the throttle to the PCM like you did. What steps did you take to do so, did you check the resistance on them? if yes, how? any info or leads where to start in order to replace the wiring will be greatly appreciated.
My 2006 Chevy Malibu engine light is on and I took it to auto zone to get the codes read. The codes showed that the TPS/ TBI was going bad. So the guy told me to try using STP fuel injection cleaner first, and if it doesn't help, I may need to replace the parts. Can you help me figure this out?
I have a 2008 chevy impala lt, I recently got it up and running again, before i parked it, i had replaced the throttle body, so i know thats not the problem. Any ideas what it could be? I am still getting the engine power is reduced and service traction control.
I pulled the obd II sensor codes and it says pedal position sensor and throttle body and it gives the engine power reduced but if the car is shut off then back on it works just fine. The guys at o'rielly's think it is the pedal position sensor but I think it is the throttle body. What do you think?
+NezPerceAirGunner It could be either tbh. They are part of the same system. I changed the pedal with sensor, then the throttle body harness, but neither fixed it for me. When I changed the throttle body itself is when it was fixed. It's a shame the codes aren't more specific. Your mechanics are guessing just the same as you. In this case, you'll have to just try one of them at a time until you find where the problem was, but it will no doubt be either in the pedal sensor or the throttle body sensor. Hope it works out for you!
+Stikman Brewing Thank You I appreciate the reply! I think I will buy both parts off of amazon and replace both. I always bought Acdelco for parts. What brand do you buy?
What symptoms were you having with your car? I have the exact same care, and while it's not throwing any codes, pretty sure the issues I'm having are narrowed down to the throttle body or TPS.

Sorry to hear that. It would depend on which particular codes the engine is producing. I was unable to read the codes on my vehicle because a po had messed up the obd plug wiring. But based on the symptoms I also changed out the accelerator pedal and the throttle body plug harness. Hope that helps.
what's the name of that sensor?? I have to change that need to know to buy the autopart thanks and is that gonna take of the reduce power sensor sign on the dash ??
Use an OBD II code reader on the vehicle's computer to see what codes it's throwing. The reason for your computer reducing the vehicles engine power could be a number of different issues. Reading the codes your engine is sending to its computer will help narrow it down for you.
I had the same exact issue with my 2009 Impala, had the throttle body and gas pedal accelerator replaced 2 weeks ago now it's running like a CHAMP and no more engine power is reduced or service traction control messages are showing up
my 2008 impala check engine light just came on an it marked me for reduced engine power. my car still drove over 45 miles an hour, I haven't punched it passed that. is my car still drivable? I'm curious because I drive my car to work everyday. if some one can pls reply to my comment that would really help. thank you
I would highly recommend scanning the computer with an OBD2 code reader to see what code(s) the engine is throwing. That's the first step to knowing why it's reducing your engine power as a safety mechanism. You might get by driving it temporarily, but I'd avoid the freeway if you can. Figure it out asap, though!
Have you had any more problems since?...I'm still having readings saying reduced engine power and service throttle body system, after I've changed the throttle body and accelerator pedal
+ThePrentisturks Have you read the codes with an OBD II reader? I had also changed the throttle body wiring harness plug. Can be a bad connection in there.

I think it's fair to say that can be said about alot of vehicles, especially domestics. We've owned 2 Impalas over the years and they certainly had their fair share of issues. I can't argue with ya, bud!
My son got 2006 Imp stuck at Kmart(of course it's almost dark and POURING LOL) & Who ya gonna call? Dad. He's pulling an OBD code of P0641" reduced power" Car was in Limp mode would run above 25-30 mph prob starting. Code is relating to EMC detecting 5V improper value. Now this could be as simple as loose Neg Batt terminal. But I'm going to reference the MAP sensor and the TPS because he was cleaning & gen Mtnc (It's his first car) I'm only pulling the one code. I'll bet something is loose that shouldn't be. I'll keep ya informed. Now if someone knows how to fix the Temp ga/ fuel ga let me know. We replaced the sending units I'd hate to tear the dash apart replace whole cluster. May just get some extrnl gauges. Thanx.
see I replaced the throttle body in my girlfriends Car but didn't fix the problem I'm having which is the car feels like it won't shift out of first gear on her 2008 Chevy Malibu LS New Style
Ladaryon Martin , it's true check your vin online or call them, engine light has to be on for this, they hook it up to check it, they wouldn't do mine yet because they couldn't pull the code up even though it's a known issue, good luck
You just cost the customer more money than he needed to spend, not good if you are in business. There is a kit for the throttle body position sensor you can buy for about 35.00. No need to replace the entire throttle body. Nothing wrong with it. If yu don't know about this kit, check with your parts supplier.

can i use a 2009 throttle or a 2006 chevy monte carlo throttle on a 2006 chevy imapala
Damian Perry Check if it's the same part number.
+Stikman Brewing I'm gonna try this, but I'm gonna clean out my old 1 1st before buying a new 1.
+COREY KEYZ Did cleaning it out solve your problem?
Yes.
+COREY KEYZ Thank you gonna try that first myself
These cars have problems all the time.
I think it's fair to say that can be said about alot of vehicles, especially domestics. We've owned 2 Impalas over the years and they certainly had their fair share of issues. I can't argue with ya, bud!
chickenfarm09 itsnot the cars!!! It’s the owners not following the owners manual manufacturers suggesting for maintenance!!!!!
what size socket do i need
Two 10mm bolts on top and two 10mm nuts on the bottom of the throttle body.
Thanx.
dadrules714 what did you find out?
see I replaced the throttle body in my girlfriends Car but didn't fix the problem I'm having which is the car feels like it won't shift out of first gear on her 2008 Chevy Malibu LS New Style
sleepybird09 it's an automatic sorry just noticed the comment
GM has a special coverage replacement for this issue replaced for free
Cisco R. ??
Ericka left a reply below also the dealer will only do it if your check engine light is on and it pulls the code for it.
Cisco R. How true is this ??
Ladaryon Martin , it's true check your vin online or call them, engine light has to be on for this, they hook it up to check it, they wouldn't do mine yet because they couldn't pull the code up even though it's a known issue, good luck
Cisco R. so what do i do
YOu did NOT actually remove the parts...! Why even show this vid... (Next time TAKE IT OFF so we can see)
No
Thank you
Wow these Chevrolet are loaded with issues huh...
my brother car has this problem now
Yup plastic gears that wear out. Right behind plastic cover Engineering at its finest
Just happened to me.. but my gas cap was open lol. I closed it and problem solved lllol
You just cost the customer more money than he needed to spend, not good if you are in business. There is a kit for the throttle body position sensor you can buy for about 35.00. No need to replace the entire throttle body. Nothing wrong with it. If yu don't know about this kit, check with your parts supplier.
This problem has happened 3 times now, each time taking a girl out on a date, any other time it's fine.
thanks broh....
+Johns da BARBER You're very welcome
