I do have a question about savings. Did the Portugese embassy ask you for proof of savings and asked for a specific amount? I’ve seen this requirement floating around but nobody speaks of it. 🤞🏼

Hi, do you mean you got 2 years residency permit when you arrived in Portugal? or is it another visa in your passport?
Minimum requirement of 3040 Euro is Gross Income or Net Income? What is the success ratio of this visa?

Can I ask.. Why Portugal? Usually Australia looks like a paradise, people move there all the time so got me curious.
Thanks Camila! We both grew up in Australia in the same town so we wanted to move to a new place to experience new cultures are be close to lots of other travel opportunities. Aus is always our home but it’s amazing how much there is to experience being in Europe not a 30hr flights away haha

We are currently on the NHR Scheme but it is now revised under a new scheme which we are unsure about.

Hey Lach and Shan! Thank you so much for this informative video. I’ve been trying to find out more information for this visa specifically from / for Australians. Are you able to travel around other Schengen areas whilst on the temporary or resident visa? Or are you only permitted to stay in Portugal because you only get the 2 arrival stamps? Hey, I got the D8 visa and travelling to Portugal next month. Can you please share which city you have chosen to live and how much is the rent?
Congratulations!! We are in Lisbon, one bedroom apartments in the city can be anywhere from 1000 - 1800 euros per month depending on size/style/location etc

Thank you for the video! Could you please let me know how many days took the process of sending the passport to get the visa stamped in and receiving it back?
Hey @null_root it was 60 days to process the visa but once we sent the passport it was roughly between 1-2weeks before receiving it back🙂
You mentioned becoming resident after 4 months. I thought it was after a few years.
Resident means that you live/reside there and aren't short term. You can apply for citizenship after 5 years and become a full citizen of the country.
What Portugal have that you can't find in Australia?
The ease of traveling to so many different countries. Aus is great but very far away from here

Hello! Thank you for the video! I had a question in regards to booking your accommodations on uni places. We’re you able to book for a year? I looked at the platform and I’m only able to book for 3 months. How did the process go because I had a consultation with a immigration specialist that didn’t recommend using Uniplaces but I feel it’s so convenient to use being far away. Can you explain your process on booking with uniplaces for your paperwork? Thanks I’m advance!
Hey April! You're very welcome! We originally used Uni places and signed a 1 year rental but the rules are changing lately, if I remember correctly it's 6 months you can legally stay in an air bnb situation. 6 months allowed us enough time to search for a longer term apartment on (Idealista). Please let us know if this answered your question!
Portugal is becoming insanely expensive, the bureaucracy is crazy and there's dirt everywere. 😢
