    Cleaning the puck every few months keeps it sweet. If any of you are concerned with the amount of gunge inside that happens with lots of short journeys simply follow Andy’s video 👍😎👌

    I replaced mine (BOSCH) for an Amaon one when i did the catch can thing. Didnt look at the make at that time. About a month into driving about noticed lacking boost. So connected my pressure tester into system and found th e (puck) was leaking air from right around the top , barely hising out but there.Conclusion .. put the original back and happy days.

    Worth replacing it rather than just cleaning it because the diaphragm above the spring deteriorates. I noticed it holds onto boost better when you're changing up a gear with a new one (latest version is 06A129101D). It seems to play a role in holding in some pressure when you take your foot off the gas to dip the clutch.

    Hi Andy.. I’ve found condensation in my oil tank.. at first I was thinking it’s the head gasket… but now I’m thinking it’s the pcv valve stuck closed and causing the moisture build up(last owner did very short trips and it’s been stood for a year)
    Is there any way of me confirming that it would be a pcv issue?

      My car is a 2002 TT Quattro 225. 121K miles. I have replaced that belt. The cause of the belt failing was the worm gear on the right hand side cracked and made a big chip so the drive pinion couldn't turn or move. The belt just tore itself apart trying. I looked everywhere for just the worm gear part (looks like a long black 3/4inch screw....it's made out of hard plastic.But all resources want to sell me the entire wind deflector screen as one unit. No can do. So, to make it so the wind deflector is in the up position where it can do some good...I drilled out the 4 rivets and raised the glass as high as it would go....and secured the glass from movement in either direction with durable zip ties. Remove the 30 amp fuse. Sorry if not allowed here Andy.

    May I ask, if I am getting engine smell coming into the cabin, what should I look for? Wife won’t sit in the as it’s impossible to breath - but it’s not fuel smell… just hot smell

    • @andycharger
      @andycharger  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment! To answer your question, I’m no expert but could be a whole host of things. Unburnt fuel or burnt fumes? It’s definitely checking fuel pump under the back seat for leaks. Also the lines under the bonnet for the petrol as they can perish. Also give your breather hoses a good once over to make sure they are intact. I hope you get it sorted so the wife can return to the car!

    Mate, did you test the valve before you refitted it back to the car?
    Could you please confirm how to test the hockey puck/PVC valve and confirm that it is in working order?

    • @andycharger
      @andycharger  2 роки тому

      Hi Ju. Its not an easy thing to test and a lot of the feedback suggests the same. You can essentially blow through it both ways which does not help. So provided you can feel pressure both ways, I guess that is a good way to confirm it is not blocked. Thanks for the comment. Its always good to add some extra points to the context.

    • @jusadowski5560
      @jusadowski5560 2 роки тому +1

      My friend, when you block one of the ports on the valve and blow air in (pressurise the valve) there should be no air leak through small orifice which is on the top of the valve.
      If you can sense air leak through the small orifice, it means that the rubber diaphragm inside the valve has a hole through, which means that valve is faulty and it needs to be replaced .
      I watched that video and found that it does not give answer how to test the valve.
      I ordered a new valve and cut open old one in order to understand how it works. The rubber diaphragm inside this valve is very thin and I believe that over the time it fails. The valve is a maintenance item which needs to changed if does not work correctly.
      I hope it helps
      Thank you

    What is the proper name and/or part number for the "hockey puck"? Also....same for the pipe (hose) that comes off under and down. I rigged up a spring inside the down pipe where it gets fatigued to stiffen it up. It works because suction isn't going to affect it as before without spring.
