One of the main causes of e-waste is when people upgrade to newer products too frequently, and the old products are often thrown away even if they are still in good working condition.
Whenever something does develop a fault, it helps to be technically minded. Knowing how to maintain and repair your own electronic products will help it last for many years and save money.

I would like to know when "developed" countries will start using all their expertise to deal with their own waste, instead of sending to poor countries which will have limited resources to deal with it
The real solution is to transition from our current anti-economic system to a true economic system, designed specifically to maximize human development and well being as efficiently as possible instead of the current waste maximization infinitely accelerating growth paradigm.
We need to take away gaming consoles and phones from every human. Its about time we start living like cavemen again, or we all should just collectively kill ourselves and let mother nature rest.

I had a phone that worked perfectly well, but I had to discard it simply becsuse it would not work thanks to the company's upgrades! So I had to dump the phone & I ceased doing anymore business with that company! Technoligy is so WASTEFUL & it's all about keeping these S.O.B's in a job.

Technology as already made our electronic devices better enough. So why do we now focus that same technology on making our waste management better too.
I am pro in Right to repair. This manufacturer says they are into environmental stuff but they put a lot of restriction on their gadgets making it less fixable and expensive to be fix. Some rather buy new one instead of giving alternative solution.
dude it sucks cuz everything is made cheap now so its worse than it ever was a stereo reciever from the 70s lasted 40 years or longer vs now they last 5 and now they break the minute you buy em even tvs are getting bad

EU should make e-waste and plastic courses compulsory to every level of school and include some scrapping at the recycling center for every student in higher levels and universities.
I never had a course on this even in the technical engineering university. Also Google should fix their algorithm to show this instead of never ending nonsense about cool gadgets and stuff.

I repaired an old laptop found broken sadly I boot it up and it was password locked now I have to wait 2 months just for a new hard drive from Malaysia

I don't understand why can't we simply reuse?! For example, old desktops can possibly be reused as Network Attach Storage, old powerful server CPUs can be reused as for average home PCs and more. Instead of buying a brand new, low priced, "underpowered" PCs why can't settle for a older generations high powered PCs? It's no brainier that you can get a bang for a buck!

@@anishsharma6702 here in latinoamérica the electronics parts lasts longer that in US, only because of the habit of changing devices and the null need to repair them.

The right to repair bills going around are positives. But things would change if countries were prohibited from exporting their own waste to other (generally poorer) countries, who have much weaker health and safety and environmental standards for "recycling"... Just watch this UA-cam documentary called "ship breakers" and you'll see what I mean 🙁
