"I actually auditioned them. They don't know it." -Mick Mars
Real quote..??
@@Tom-ml5sj Yes. From an interview.
Lol that is kind of true since he had the name in mind and shit ya know
@@dannyboi607 and most can agree, he had the name and was the most talented musician of the group, undoubtedly. tuning down to D-standard was also a very wise decision on his part, really crucial to their unique sound. snarls, growls when you play this kind of music in D.
"Fuckin' hippy ain't gonna make it"
Best line in the movie.
Charles Manson was a hippie and he made it. He’d slaughter Motley Crue
@@chosengod5943 he probably woulda been with motley crue hahah
“So tell
Him :)”
Just imagine a shirt with that line..
Mick's expression when the hippy dude tries to stop him is priceless.
Pause at 1:09 😂
I love how Mick just came in, took over and blew the hippy away. "Turn it down old timer I can't hear myself play" that's immediate cut from the rock band. If you can't hear yourself play, play louder!
@@peterjaymesjr That Was You? The Blonde Hippie?
And Did you get to meet the Real Motley Crue?
Probably didn't happen exactly like this😂
@@danniedwards5750 but still lmbo
@@boredomania9245 oh yeah love the film😂
@@danniedwards5750 No no this is EXACTLY how it happened, he unplugged from his amp and just left it there lmao Imagine.
Mick is my favourite member of the crue. Dudes just so chill.
2:07 always makes me laugh
I love how Jaded Mick is in this movie lol
As soon as he was getting into it mick was like wtf it's that......he can't play with us lol legend
This scene was hilarious, great job
This should have been a trilogy of movies or a series!
Its a biodoc. No way this could be a trilogy since it happened in real life. It being a series would be bad for the momentum. Being a movie is fine as it is. All it is from the book the movie already showed unless you wanna see the Crue do drugs every scene and the debauchery that would get them cancelled. The movie should’ve been longer though that’s my only gripe and they should’ve fleshed out the Corabi Crue era more and showed Vince’s successful solo album. They also didn’t stop doing drugs after rehab
I agree. The movie chopped out way too much of the book. You literally could end movie 1 with the car crash. Movie 2 with Vince getting fired.
@@robertsergott2635 they had to. Making it into one long movie or splitting it into two movies probably wouldn’t have worked with the general public.
@@robertsergott2635 exactly or the troubles with pam and Tommy and shi
Only things wrong with this scene are that the hippie in real life was their first singer not a guitarist and Mick would’ve been playing a super strat at the time. Awesome movie though, read the book!
Well i dont really think mick wouldve had a super strat in 81, mostly because he used the les paul in the first album. He started using more super strats in shout at the devil even when he still used the les paul, yet eventually went full super strat cause he didnt like the les paul tone he got (which to be honest his les paul tone fron those first 2 albums is one of my favorites)
In 81 Vic was playing a super strat, if you read the book or do some digging this info is readily available. As for the changes and characters I get this was done for legal reasons or to safe face for the first vocalist but regardless it’s an omission of truth
Does it really matter? Motley Crue is one of the worst bands of all-time. Up there with Journey, Poison and Twisted Sister.
@@trendybistro ?
Regardless of how you personally feel about the band they helped spark visual kei in Japan, sold millions of albums, have over 100m fans worldwide and the love for their music has transcended generations (myself included cause I’m 23). And it doesn’t really matter I was just pointing out inaccuracies for those who might want a more accurate version of events compared to what’s depicted in the film
That was awesome!. I hope you had a great experience with this shoot.
If they were to ever make a movie about Van Halen, Iwan Rheon could also play the roll of EVH! He sorta looked like EVH in this movie!
Yeah
Yeah, he does look kinda like him with the long hair
But can he playvguitar
In my opinion they should find someone of part Indonesian heritage or at least similar.
wait if they did make a movie about van halen then who’ll play as david lee roth and alex?
I thought you were ramsay bolton turned into a rocker hahahaha this movie kicks ass dude!
@@peterjaymesjr Hahaha no problemo eh still love the film lol the crue is one of my fave bands
Epic dude
1:58 he gonna cry in the car
Love this scene !
That Epiphone Les Paul custom didn't enter production until almost a decade after this is supposed to take place
yeah!.. and that isn't the real Motley Crue too..
its a movie dude..
Should be a Krammer not les paul
"In this scene, there was 1 louder" - Nigel Tufnel
He gon cry in the car 🤣🤣
The power of the Gibson \,,/
I love motley crue best metal band
Fat Kilmer always delivers.
I was in the " band " scene back in the 80s and early 90s ..and it was cut throat. If you sucked as a player there was no compassion ..no sympathy. You would be brutally kicked to the curb.
yup that's the way it was back in the day !
😅😅😅 @ 1:06
Mick mars face expression 😅
He gonna cry in the car 😂
Then joined Quiet Riot and later Dokken...
Wasn't this "Greg Leon" in real life? He was their supposedly original guitarist, right?
could u imagine crue w 2 guitarists?? that would be insane
It's funny that "Hippie" became the biggest rock star in the 80s Jon Bon Jovi.
What I had no idea this is supposed to be Jon Bon Jovi in this scene 😮
👊
Are you happy youtube? I finally watched this video
He was improving but what you have to appreciate is playing those riffs takes incredible motor neural adaption which can takes ages if you aren't experienced in playing that
Ramsey Bolton survived the dogs attacking him and then went on to play guitar for Motley Crue. Never give up, people! 😊
I bet that Hippie Thumbs down every Motley Crue Video......
And goes running out crying
Bro where i can find that solo tabs
it was soo better when mick joined
If anyone didn’t notice, the Gibson logo isn’t on micks les Paul because Gibson sues everyone
Its an Epiphone
That's not how it works.
Gibson would have to pay the makers of The Dirt to have their logo/guitars prominently featured in the film.
Headstock shape says it's an Epiphone
It's an epiphone which is owned by gibson anyway so they would probably still throw a hissy fit if the logo wasn't blacked out.
Still owned by Gibson. My guess is they saved mega budget $ by using an Epiphone. Incidentally there were no Epiphone Les Pauls back then.
Mick Mars walked in and amped it up, before telling the hippie to take a hike. That's him to a T.
I was surprised how good MGK was in this film.
Go Xmas.
For me, I always let not so great players try to figure it out and they never do and it drags on to a bitter end. This approach seems much better- just rip off the band aid.
Preemptively ending something.
I got blindsided and bullied by my cunt boss on Thursday with a termination scare tactic threat.
4 days later I pulled the plug.
No way was I waiting around for her to do something else to me.
Lol yea but imagine being the guy that got fired a few months before they became motley Crue. Always knowing how close you were to fame
🤣 scene 😂😅
Hey Pete, was that a wig or did you actually grow your hair for the role?
"It's not like anything I've ever played before man" Hahaha, that line kills me. I love the Crue, but their guitar parts are not ground-breaking at all. Or this guy has never played power chords or palm muted 😆
I was thinking the same, live wire riff is pretty much the song you play to practice being good enough to tackle monstrosities like smoke on the water
You would be surprised how hard that riff for many guitar players played correctly with downstrokes
@@supernothing77 you'd be surprised how many non players can pick up the guitar and play that without even trying. It's not tricky at all
@@davidwagstaff47 I 100 percent disagree. There is no way possible for a "non guitar" player or a beginner to play that riff correct. The down picking is probably the hardest part and I would bet even some cover band guitarists cheat by alternating picking which doesn't sound nearly the same.
@@supernothing77 it's two positions, where the hand can easily roll crommome to the other. A non guitar player will instinctively pick up and hold a guitar in that position 30% of the time. I mean there isn't really any easier riffs. Maybe public enemy no. 1.
anyone know the song mick listens to when he rolls up in the car

ramsay bolton. motley crue great.

No lie he looks just like Greg Leon but Greg clearly couldn’t have been that bad when he played in Motley Crue
Later they found him flayed outside the apartment complex. Because traditions are important.
How old was Mick when he started cuz I'm confused.
Late 20s early 30s. Older by years compared to the other members
He was 30 in 1981, when the band formed, nikki was like 24 or 25 and both tommy and vince were like 20 or 21
@@victorancelmo2549 Nikki was 23, Vince was 20, and Tommy was 18 or 19
JT Mullins thanks for the info
Victor Ancelmo thank you
Exactly how old was mick Mars when he auditioned.
"i've never played anything like this before"
He says like he's playing eruption 💀 Crue aren't exactly known for their intricate riffs lmao
Well if he's a hippie listening to hippie shit, he probably wasn't used to palm muted picking at that tempo. Not exactly hard to *pick* up on tho ;-)
@@ElMamuco And let's not act like there was trainers for people certain instruments you can self teach but not guitar atleast without a chord chart
The movie was acting like they were doing shit that hadn’t been done before lol
When I watched this a few years back had no clue that the guy playing Tommy was machine gun Kelly, now I don't like him and his music, but I gotta say he did alright in this movie.
He should stick to acting
Honestly I've seen him in a few movies and shows. He's a shit musician but has some acting chops
Old timer eyy not too old to a solo
So , did they tell you who you were playing in real life ?
Technically, I was a fictional combination of Greg Leon and O’Dean Peterson, but they didn’t want to piss anybody off so they changed my name and altered the details a little bit lol
@@peterjaymesjr lol. Well you played a great scene! I can’t tell you how many bad musicians I’ve played with that had that exact attitude! Nailed it!
And now look them 🤣 I love the Crue but they were never really all that compared to other bands at the time
Is that Ramsey Bolton?
2:10 Tommy dubbing error
Wait lmao this is YOU
Is that supposed to be Robin? Before Mick fired his ass..?
I think is supposed to be Greg leon, who played in quiet riot and Dokken
He did way better in Tenacious D anyway

Wasn't the real story based on the fact the auditioning guy was a chonker? Bc Crue riffs aren't that difficult (though Mick got the most of them). How tf he supposed to to squeeze into leather pants like late career Vince?
Typical guitar players always a competition 🤦🏻
Damn that had to suck. But Mick fit.
First mistake….the Hippy is using a Strat….with not near enough distortion!
I love Strats…but this song requires a humbucker.
This is totally fake, Greg Leon is a great and excellent guitarrist he played in quit riot and dokken, then he formed his band called The Greg Leon Invasion, this scene is funny but not wasn't real.
There was only room for one Blonde in the band anyways.
why do I see Avril Lavigne in Colson in this movie ??? not that there is anything wrong with it, I am just surprised at my hallucinations
That dude must of really sucked, it's an easy riff.
This is definitely a scene written by non-musician

This is why you should learn to down pick people

His tone didn’t help 😂
this guy never existed
Are we sure that wasn't Vince Neal trying to play guitar...all fat and out of shape?🤣
Its a movie!!
i really doubt half of its true .it kinda sucked bad actors!!!
If thats how shitty that guy actually was, that's really awful. He had no business trying out for any band. I was better then that after playing for a week.
Mötley Crüe had about 3 good songs. this being one of them. shit band. Mick Mars was the only actual talented musician in the group
