I have an explanation for why there was a strange wall out in the ocean. That particular pixel smearing effect occurs on shaders that are not tri-planar. Most of the water shader surface materials as well as what I assume to be a series of gerstner wave functions to create the ocean effect are intended to work on the x and z coordinates. If the water shader had been accidentally wrapped around volume of that ocean object instead of being apllied to a single surface, that pixel smearing effect would appear. Realistic waves tend to require fairly high poly meshes, as individual verticies are moved on a sine wave, and many game engines have limitation on how many polygons and object can have. There are likely multiple water volumes snapped together, and one of them has the shader on all surfaces. This would also explain why its culled out on one side.
This will always feel like Rockstar just came up to a couple of guys, gave them the source code, and said, "You have 6 months." before disappearing into the aether.
Those fixes are kinda easy to do and should have been done during pre alpha testing. The main issue i have with this remaster is that swapping game engine requires a lot of creative work and not just copypasting assets from the old game, yet they didn't adhere to old gta style and color correction thus remasters look like a generic game made by one person on unreal 4

As a newer game dev, perhaps you can enlighten me on how in the hell a game company looked at this remaster in the state it was in at release and honestly thought it was a good idea to release it in that condition. R* honest to god took a look at this remaster and went "Yep, that's ready for release" despite it looking like a pudding-faced AI generated buggy mess where the character models look like something a 10 year old would make the first time they used blender. What in the HELL were they thinking, releasing this mess???? please make me understand how they could possibly think this was ANYWHERE NEAR finished...
@@jupitersnoot4915It’s Take-Two Interactive IP and it’s their call to release it that way. As a newer game dev you should know how greedy & profit maximizing publishers tend to be.
A.k.a back-face culling.
Just like the problem with the jerseys were the normals. It seems like they just put the normal map for the 7 shirt on all the other versions.
@@jupitersnoot4915I mean we now know what they were really working on all this time. So it makes sense in hindsight why they didn't have time for that, but you're right they made the bad call releasing it like that obviously
1:12 First person glitch while on the quad bike was in PS2 original game as well as far as I remember, but not for the other vehicles
Great video. I agree the fog still doesn’t make the map big enough they should add more
Bro it is enough to make it big
Some of the issues you mentioned (jet reverse camera, CJ not holding camera properly) are present in the original version as well.
I’m so glad I picked up the actual trilogy on psn before it was removed, this edition would sting far less if they kept the original games up still
even the psn editions are missing some songs due to licensing. They also have some cut content, and weirdly, are actually just console ports of the mobile versions. Honestly just use PCSX2 and emulate the original ps2 versions, you'll have a better time.
@@yahmzmusic2339 I am not sure about the songs but they are not the mobile ports afaik.
I know SA lost a lot of the music though, I remember there being an issue about it, pretty sure I have it on xbox 360

@ips I know right. I was just about to say that.
I know people still hate them but I don't mind these remasters. They look nice and have modern updates. Only real problem is the character models don't look that great. However, I don't like playing the San Andreas remaster. It feels really off and the character models are at its worst. I stick with the PS2 version
The san andreas looks great, but so many small bugs that can be fixed. They took our money and ran... Grove street games got balls. I still play the ps2 and og Xbox version no doubt, but the definitive looks pretty with a morden touch.
I never liked the models in San Andreas. I know that they had to lower quality of models for the open world on the PS2, but CJ deserves a higher poly face
Honestly, calling it a “remastered” is an overstatement. The game look like someone just download some 4k textures mod that was Ai generated.
@@khangvinh4656 The worst of all is that you are not wrong, they used an AI to make all the model more "smooth", making that some stores had missing letters and a giant bolt model was turned into a circle for example
I'm sorry, I know everyone is entitled to an opinion and all but if you think these games look nice you really need to raise your standards a bit...
Glad to see that it's being worked on
On those jerseys, the normal map was left over from the #7. The fixed it by completely removing the normal map, which took away detail and depth.
The jersey clearly doesn't have a normal map, though. Otherwise it wouldn't look flat
We are appreciating them even though they did their bare minimum
This is why these companies are so emboldened to release half baked games, because we praise them for fixing it years down the line.

*CJ becomes GHOST when using camera on mirror* 💀
Basically yea since they outsourced the DE to a mobile game developer. Same one that did the mobile ports of the GTA games.
Immediately subscribed to this channel. Keep it up man!
There's something about CJ looking so spaced out whilst flying a jet fighter that's just so freaking funny 😂
Did they fix the problem where in San Andreas the waves were not synchronized with the physics, and CJ kept flying in the air, or going underwater?
Nope.

Unless they revert the controls to which you jack a car by simply either pressing the triangle button or Y button making it a snap to enter vehicles like the originals, I’m not spending a dime on “the definitive editions”.
You would deny yourself over something so trivial. Pathetic
How does one enter vehicles in the "definitive" edition? I haven't seen the controls for it yet
@@LoverOfManyArts Exactly the same. By pressing triangle, Y or X on Switch. No clue what this person is talking about tbh
Oh
@@LoverOfManyArts the definitive edition makes what was once a snap to enter vehicle now an unfun chore. In the originals all you had is press the triangle, Y, or X and you simply run up to the car and steal it. However, in the defective editions you have to manually run up to the vehicle and then press whatever button you use to steal it.

I'm thinking of buying it now since a lot of things have changed now compare when it first released ,and the reviews are almost positive now compare before
yup, its great, especially vice city feels so good
Watch a video from Vadim M, titled "GTA:SA Why the Definitive Edition is Garbage (Part 1)" to see how badly they ruined the atmosphere of the games and how they unsuccessfully struggled to fix it for several months after the release. The video is over a year old, but but from what I see on this particular video, their version of the map fog is still the same shoddy effort as over a year ago. Other sources report the games still look the same.

So what was the relevance of the thumbnail or click baiting still a thing
Let’s be honest, it should have been a Remake in the traditional sense… not upscaling and enhancing. These games are iconic and should have been given the proper love.
You know, when I was little, I never imagined this is what the future of gaming will be
Although this was Rockstar’s property, I think a completely different studio did this port. This is not to absolve Rockstar of any responsibility, but helps to contextualize
Grove street games who did the mobile ports before were in charge of the definitive edition development
Tires still leave black marks in grass instead of dirt tracks. Immersion gone
That’s just Rochelle’s from l4d2 face in the thumbnail

to this day the fog thing impresses me, because sure in some ways was used due to the limitation of the console at the time, but is also a choise to give the world volume and atmosphere
