Absolutely agree with the Royal butler. I met the Duchess of Cornwall 40 years ago, through a friend. Absolutely lovely lady, kind, honest and thoughtful. No drama, no vanity, no malice. Just straight forward and down to earth. Now, 40 years later, I had a note from her a couple of days ago, thanking me for a birthday card. Marriage into the Royal Family hasn't changed her at all. I have huge respect and affection for her.

How people treat the people who serve them, whether it's the Royals with their staff or you and me at a restaurant, is very telling. Warm and humble people appreciate what others do for them.

I have also used that as a measuring stick. If someone acts rude or condescending towards waitstaff, or even thinks he can take certain liberties with a waitress because "he pays"- that's not someone with whom I want to be acquainted.

Oh that’s very true, one time I had this nightmare situation with the host family in Kenya, they were Indians in Kenya and the way I would treat their staff was just a palling, they were rubbish people anyway but one of the educators was their whole perspective on how they treated their house girls etc.

Thank you for that information. I’ve always thought that the duchess of Cornwall had to be kind hearted and loving and helpful. It appears that prince Charles tried to move on without her after she married her first husband. But they were truly best friends and right for each other. It is wonderful to hear how gracious and kind she is with her household staff too. Very admirable!

@@thekingsdaughter4233 Well, that certainly could have saved some heartache, but then we would not have William and Harry. When you know what's it's like to be in a marriage that simply isn't working, it's easier to let judgments go. No one is without sin; otherwise we wouldn't need a saviour. He gives us all so many second opportunities to turn things around. So must we.

    • @thekingsdaughter4233
      @thekingsdaughter4233 3 роки тому +2

@@lucybraun8969 yes, there certainly are William and Harry as the good that came from it. :-) Of course, Charles and Camilla might have had lovely children together, too; not just each with someone else.
What I mean is- Prince Charles had this time of roving, going from one girlfriend to another. As Lady C. wrote, he didn't want to commit to marrying (just any lovely lady who seemed suitable enough) too early in case someone better still was yet to be found. It would have been better if he had known a good thing (the relationship with Camilla) when he first had it. Two broken marriage, one dead spouse, and traumatic experiences for four children is a steep price to pay for happiness. That said, it is what it is; and as I said elsewhere, we must play the hand we are dealt instead od wishing for the ideal set of cards we might wish for. * shrug * No point in wishing for a different plot line.

Grant a really lovely thought, review of the Duchess Of Cornwall. For me this chat as we sit around your table, it is so heart warming listening to you sharing your insights, for the job, the people, the events, men, woman who have served their Country. I do know Prince Charles with the Duchess of Cornwall hold this area very close to them. You have a natural ability within you to support these people and supporting the Royals in your place of work, their home, carrying the tray has tickled me, you with very wet eyes moving down the line, nearly having to sit you down at the end. I am very, very sure that you were a warm face to see with a welcome, hearty hello and welcome to.... So refreshing to have something lovely to say about the people in question. Thank you.

It’s probably fair to say that these people who are now in their 70s aren’t the same people they were in their 20s-30s when the Charles/Diana/Camilla stuff happened. I’m willing to bet there’s some regret and embarrassment. And if there’s any truth in The Crown, it seems as if Charles and Diana looked perfect on paper, and everyone wanted to just get on with it and be happy without much concern for their feelings and needs. It’s better to have some compassion and take the generous view on everybody. The Prince and Duchess seem very happy and in love. That’s something to be happy for.

@Ryan Caldwell I surely hope that certain people feel, or at least have felt, a good measure of shame and regret. Alas, when the chips are down, we all have to deal with how things _are;_ not how they should be ideally. :-\
That said, I recently read Lady Colin Campbell's book on Diana- written pre-divorce. Not all that glitters is gold, even if Lady C. should _not_ be 100% right. And a quote I read elsewhere, "A man who loves painting, and classical music, and long walks in the Scottish highlands should think long and hard before he marries someone who loves pop music, shopping trips to high end boutiques, and dancing with John Travolta." :-\

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is a fabulous person with a warm hearted and generous personality. Only a few times when working, did I meet her when she used to drop her father off for lunch with my late employer. She would drop him off, have a quick chat in the hall and make her way through to the kitchen where I would be busy cooking lunch. Another quick chat and out the back door to the car. I have a good example of why she deserves the credit she is finally receiving. I received help from Survivors Manchester,a charity in Salford dealing with boys and men affected by sexual assault. These amazing lads face an uphill battle due to how modern society sees frankly all males.
At an event for individuals affected by assault, there was a male survivor. In general males do better at an agency headed by a male survivor, but on this day The Dutchess, Queen Camilla, Consort if one desires, specifically went up to him acknowledging the courage a male required to be there. She knew from being so unfairly judged why he faced a special challenge. She obviously was not saying person A is more important, but men bury hurt differently. I shall always have respect for her doing this, and the Late Queen Elizabeth for giving an OBE to our CEO Duncan Craig. Love your channel.

I'm now a huge fan of Camilla... Firstly she gained my respect due to the fact she has steadfastly refused to open her heart and "tell her story" No leaking stories to the press via "friend" No silly games like we had for many years... with the late Diana Princess of Wales... and I was a huge fan of hers in the early days...but I worked out...Diana had major issues which would never work.. in her role as the wife of the future King.
Camilla since she joined the Royal Family has never put a foot wrong ... No One wanted the marriage of Charles and Diana to end as it did but... It did and as you say...there is always two sides to the story of a failed marriage.
So we have to move on...and Its so easy to see how happy they both are together and its also clear Prince Charles is a much happier man with her in his life.
The Duchesse has found her place, quite naturally nothing forced. Love how she has never wanted or tried to steal the limelight away from Prince Charles. Camilla is a natural Hostess and is loved by the greater Royal Family .
I hope when the time comes...she agrees to take her proper title...Queen Consort and I know that's very controversial BUT Its my hope.

Aww very mature words and kind, I am not a fan of the Royal family or camilla, but I respect them, I respect that charles always loved and never stopped loving her, yes he was mean towards Diana yes camilla did few wring things but that shows that they are humans with flaws. But also they ha e good things chalres with that prince trust and camilla with the oestreoprosis society, sexual and domestic abuse charity and so many more. Snf you're right she never stole the spotlight from charles instead she stands by him and often can be seen walking behind charles. I did believe e cmailla doesn't mind if her children are not royal and I do believe her children Don tmi d either, because they know they are from Andrew parker bowles, but they see how the prince of Wales now king see their mother happy with him. If canilla was king Henry 8th wife he would have gotten rid of her, for not giving her a son an heir to the throne. And I think for charles he doesn't mind if his son William or Harry is on the throne who are the children from his marriage to diana. For him at least he is happily married to camilla. Camilla and charels love story show us that the royal family is not a fairytale, and that a fairytale marriage can happen at any age. They showed us that even of your old with wrinkles you can still be silly or share lovey dovey kisses and moments in public. Which I find cute when I see an elderly couple laugh, smile and kiss and hug

It has been my impression just form watching Documentary's on The Duchess.. There is no Pretentiousness about the Duchess, what you see is who she is. Camellia went to a Private School as well as a Finishing School and was a Socialite in her Day. I also admire the fact that she gose by the Duchess of Cornwall and hasn't claimed the Title of Princes of Wales. I believe that she is a true Lady, in every sense of the word. Camellia and Charles are very well suit for one another, you can tell by how they interact with one another in Public. Thank you for sharing.

I have a lovely little Jack Russell and have had many in the past and like some people I thought they were happy. Thankfully mine never have been. I thank my husband for that as our dogs have always been well behaved and we treat them beautifully but they have to be well behaved. I’ve just told my husband your Tosser story, he thought it was hilarious. 😂😂

I always liked Camilla and the best is that Prince Charles is rather happy with her in his life . She’s loyal and they knew each other long before Diana married the Prince of Wales . These two the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were meant to be together until the end . I think she’ll do a great Princess Consort and King Charles will do great with her by his side .
You brought with your sweet memories the true persona of the Duchess of Cornwall . Thank you so much for sharing .

I think the Duchess was very lucky to have a great butler who really cared about the people he worked for. To have those feelings reciprocated is a very big plus in my book. I am sure the nice memories that you have working for the Duke and Duchess will always stay with you. Nice to know they truly are good and caring people.

I absolutely can see her genuine warmth and I understand why you admire her so much. The one thing that sticks in my craw is something I read very long ago. It was about Prince Charles marrying Princess Diana in order to produce strong heirs, and that Camilla was always on the scene. Having said that, Prince Charles and Lady Diana produced magnificent William. Camilla wasn't considered good enough, but now that they've been a couple for so long, I can see how they fit
