Good morning from Florida 🌞🌞 Please make a video on how to use the forks and knives when eating at the table compared to the American way. Love, love your videos!
Beautiful garden and lovely dogs. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Yes please share more details about the afternoon tea. The Royal family must miss having such a cheerful professional chap as you.
Thank you for this video. I love the table setting. I would like to suggest a video perhaps with bits of history of tea drinking in Britain, please. Thank you and have a safe week!
What a glorious Summer day for an afternoon Tea Party 🐦🌹🌳 Love the versatility of the various uses for the plates. And what a lovely nod to your Prince William and Kate table 💐
Just beautiful! I loved seeing the the Royal Dachshunds and the beautiful garden roses 🌹. Thank you for all of this inspiration in serving tea! Maybe another video idea could be all of the types of tea available!
Yes, I would also really enjoy a video on various types of tea and when or when not they are served, for example breakfast, afternoon or whenever. I am totally ignorant of the rules for tea.
Well, this is just the Intro to Afternoon Tea 101 ! You've whetted our appetite for all the steps you have listed. Also maybe a coffee service alone? 🌹 I have read in etiquette books that the sliced lemon (never wedges) should be served on a small glass or crystal plate. Makes sense. Indeed, older glass companies produced special lemon plates, about 7 inches.
www.ebay.com/itm/264994017686?hash=item3db2dfd196:g:5oQAAOSwja5e4iU1 Lemon plates weren't all yellow, I just chose this one. Would have been part of a glass suite with sugar bowl and cream jug, teacups, saucers, tea plates, sweet dishes, candlesticks, and more. Made by an American fine glass company, one of several and some still in existence. England has pottery clay, but the U. S. has glass and crystal. Do look up "ABP" glass - American Brilliant Period - which rivals Waterford crystal.
Like to see a full presentation of that afternoon tea..,maybe vase of flowers, and the rest of the service of the tea. It’s so much nicer to make even a simple afternoon tea a beautiful affair. And so enjoyable..
I love this. My young granddaughter loves to have tea with me. It’s a wonderful tradition we have started here in the USA and it’s a chance to use my fine China and linens. Thank you and I look forward to hearing more!
Beautiful English culture. Love it. ❤️. I especially like the intricate embroidery on the tablecloth. Really lovely. I must say I do like the teaspoon to be at 9 o’clock behind the handle of the cup. Hmmm 😊
I thoroughly enjoy seeing your beautiful Dachshunds, they are just the nicest breed of dogs. I'm glad you include them in your videos. This is a great video series, I watch every week.
Thanks for sharing about afternoon tea , the weather here in Canada is nice for out door dinners finally, can’t wait to see your blogs about outdoor teas, love seeing your royal dogs.🙂🇨🇦
I had guests yesterday , and practiced what I saw in your videos ! They seamed to enjoy themselves , especially as we have the asparagus and strawberry season at the moment. Also the time when the Whitsun roses no blossom !! Greetings from south Baden Württemberg, Germany.
I’m so happy to be a subscriber to your wonderful channel. I would love to know how lemon slices for tea are cut, what type of serving dish is used for them and how to offer and serve the lemon slices. Oh, if you could, would you go over the proper use of tennis sets? I have a small collection of Royal Albert Tennis sets that I’d love to use for an afternoon low tea open house. Would they be proper to use? What type of napkin should be used with them? Oh, what are the dimensions of the napkin you used on today’s video? Lastly, how differently is a low tea with only finger foods served? Please, please continue with your tea series. In our chaotic times, it brings blessed moments of serenity. Thank you!
I'm so delighted to have recently discovered you and the Royal Dachshunds. I'd love to learn about how to set a table for 6 to 8 guests for tea including placement of the sandwiches, etc. Of course, anything you present will be welcomed!
Loved it! I want to know everything about afternoon tea for a larger group. Say eight to 10 ladies. Also in the US we would call that plate a salad plate. 🫖❤️
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm so glad I have kept all my table finery! It's been resting in boxes for afew years but you've inspired me to want to use it again! What I would like to know is the appropriate times for High Tea and Low Tea please. I'm in Australia and there seems to be some dispute over the times. Enjoy the wonderful weather, love the roses.
Sir, let me first thank you for your most informative videos. Some time ago I was very, very luck to study in England ( Oxford University). While their one of my room mates invited me to '' Sunday afternoon Tea" with his family. What a ''Royal"" treat it was........pressed tablecloth, luncheon plates, scones ( home made) was taught how to make them from scratch (using his grandmother family recipe). When I returned state side carried on the custom of Sunday afternoon tea. Thank you, thank for a most interesting viedo. Love your ''Harris tweed" sport coat and yes your adorable dogs!...............Dr, Bob;[ -)
Love tradition. More please! Types of tea offered? Serving the different teas and accompaniments? I did a national diploma in catering when I was a youngster so setting tables always stuck with me. Love it thank you!
Thank you! 🌺 I love your china so much that in quarantine etiquette i was afraid, that just maybe...maybe your cute furry friends will accidently smash one of teacup..😳 but as i see, they have brilliant manners.. all is fine. Lots of hugs to them.. 🤗🐶🤗 Your garden is fabulous with beautiful roses.. 🌺 You may present all you like - tea, coffee (i like), sandwiches, CAKE!! - always interesting! 🙏 🌺
Lovely advice and exactly how to lay a table for tea. A beautiful table is a gift and compliment for one's guests. Who, when welcomed to a beautiful table, does not have their spirits lifted? The Fab Four Florida Labs suggest a small sweets dish that should contain biscuits for the enjoyment of the canine guests to be enjoyed at the farthest corner of the garden or lawn.
Sir Grant! I just want to thank you for your informative and interesting videos. Though I don't live in royalty, I do enjoy upgrading small parts of my day to be a little more exquisite. Keep up the good work
From an American with Scottish blood flowing through every artery - your presentations, lessons, and chats are most appreciated, very timely and also excellent as the years roll along. First I wanted to ask if you are well, and slowly recovering from the loss to the world of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II? Having worked with the Royal family you are even more affected than those of us, looking in, watching and admiring the family. Time and reflection of the special memories you will always have, will in time heal your wounds. I had a suggestion for you - should you wish?? I bought a large sheet of plastic coated on one side in felt to protect my dining table (about 4 inches larger all the way around) and for the kitchen table; turned the outer edge under approximately 2 inches, then ran elastic through that channel, so the protector hugs the table, does not shift and nothing, like priceless crystal, will topple over. Thank you for your expertise and willingness to teach us to have the best Royal life possible. ka
If I ever won the lottery, my first hire would be you. You wouldn't even have to work as a butler, just to hear your lovely Scottish burr. It calms me more than Valium. And of course you would have to bring the royal dachshunds!
You have a beautiful garden and the roses are lovely, do they have a fragrance? I need educating in all aspects!!!!! so anything you show us is appreciated.
Gorgeous garden ! And love your lovely hounds!!!💕💕💕. Is there a presentable way of having sweeteners at the ready? All the plastic containers would look hideous next to this beautiful tea setting !
My goodness how many lovely dogs ran by? All I saw was a whirling dervish of little legs and wagging tails? Beautiful walls in your garden. The roses absolutely beautiful. 🌟The close up of the star of the show at the end brilliant! ❤ dogs. My lovey 🦮 is my service/guide dog now. You are a nice chap how did you become a butler? That would be interesting video to hear about.
Lovely! Does the butler ever do food preparation at the table? Examples here in The States might include preparing Caesar salad or flaming cheese or cherries, etc? Thank you for your very informative and entertaining videos! Love them! ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧❤️
Hello, I am so glad to have found your channel! I am very interested in knowing all about correct tea and/or meal service. Also, I am quite certain I will appreciate procedural correctness on any subject you choose. Thank you
Thank you for a most enjoyable episode, but may I ask, what design is your beautiful china . Please carry on with these tips, as so much of our etiquette is being lost. Many thanks
Please might you go through all the dishes in a China service and all the cutlery in a full canteen of cutlery. Also about table clothes and napkins eg cotton, linen, silk and is there ever a time when you might use my own personal favourite, Christmas themed table linen. Thank you.
I am hosting Ladies Tea Party on July 10 in my home with 7 guests. We will be seated at my dining table and I will use my silver tea service. I plan to serve the tea, while standing from the side buffet, as I think the silver tea service on its large tray would not work well on the table. Do I ask each guest how they want their tea (with sugar or milk) or do I have the sugar and milk on the table and let the guests add what they want? Do I have one tray for each sandwich and scones or do I use multiple trays around the table for the sweets and savory items for the ease of my guests? As an American I am curious to know if it is proper, or necessary, or a terrible idea to have a water glass for each guest as well? I love your videos and thank you for your advice.
I would have water glasses for my guests no matter what. Black teas are dehydrating, although I love Earl Greys. And have the powder room spruced up for necessary visits lol....that's how I would do it to make my friends comfortable. It's all about them after all isn't it?
Firstly, thanks for all of the time you have put in to sharing your knowlege. Secondly, I would like to see how to present and serve them like Holly Eggart wrote in the comments. Often times videos show how to set the table, but I never see how to actually use things in real time. Who passes to whom? Does every one reach in for themselves? I know it seem obvious, but it really isn't, especially once the table starts to get larger. If I don't have a butler am I getting up each time to bring in a dish (since there is only a napkin on the table)?
Love this video! This was the from the programme I watched when i was around 14 and gave me the idea of dancing with the Queen! Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
