This is how ALL trail centres and bike parks should aspire to be. A hub for all riders of abilities and disciplines to encourage and grow the sport as a whole 👍
Well I hope you get to come and experience it when its rebuilt. Whilst we certainly had some big stuff our scary reputation wasn't that accurate in the later years due to the red runs and some of the other trails. It was more of a hang over from the early years where everything was black and above and certainly lived up to the grading.
You definitely missed out then,as there was plenty to do for every skill lvl,was the best park in UK in my opinion, used to go regularly, the year it shut down I went 15 times, only been to a bike park 3 times this year, just not enjoying anywhere like i did Revs😢.
I got chatting to a woman the other day whilst walking my dog and she worked for a woodland Trust that fully funds planting trees, designing and fitting fences plus £4k per year towards maintenance (need a hectareof land). She said they were under target for this year and desperate to meet it. I can't remember the name of the trust but sure a quick Google would come up with some options. I'm sure you've already explored this but just in case you hadn't 👍
We have got some support towards the main replanting and fencing work but we are looking to get a lot more trees in the lower area so will look into it form that perspective, cheers for the tip.
Imagine hitting a 1.5-2km freeride run that links straight into an indoor jump building for the finale, that's the dream for end product. Or just hit jumps out of the rain and have a nice coffee when you need to warm up.
@@revolutionbp sounds amazing I know DH tracks run year round but wind can really make hitting big jumps hard sometimes but indoor means conditions are always perfect
Nice to hear a positive video, I wish you all the best trying to get through the local council codger army, we all know to well how difficult they make things. #revs4evs
This is fantastic news all. Loved revs for the DH, but excited to hear about the diversification also. Can't wait to follow the rebuild, and I'm excited to see you again sometime in the future.
Appreciate it, but we haven't forgotten about DH, the plans here are the first step back towards the DH park and if we can complete the journey the DH trails we be better than ever.
Please carry on making these videos of the progress, it's very interesting and I know a lot of riders including myself that watch these videos as soon as they come out 🤙
Cheers bud, appreciate the support. Hopefully once we get through the bureaucracy stage we will be documenting the build process in detail which should make for some pretty interesting content so stick around.
Cheers all appreciate you following, how would you feel about a Chain Reaction slope style park in the quarry 😜, seriously though if you guys are looking for a venue for anything, events, videos, photo shoots... we are still here and would love work with you.
Yes please for the indoor jump bike. The UK needs something like this big time. Progression/flow lines would be be amazing. Fingers crossed this happens, if it ticks the boxes it would become my second home. 🙏
Your plans sound fantastic; I really like the sound of the indoor dirt jumps - I used to go to Dirt Factory in Manchester and it was ace. Fingers crossed that your initial plans come to fruition. Keep up the great work - I can’t wait to come back 😊
Amazing plans for the park, the indoor jump area and developing the quarry for the public are spot on as well as expanding for all cycling disciplines. Riding downhill and dirt jumps in the same day/weekend at revs would be great. Good luck with getting the plans through with the council. Excellent work Jo with the video edits. Hope everyone at revs is keeping well.
Great to see that you're "thinking outside the box" and looking for new ways to get the park up and running again. I used to go to the Dirt Factory indoor jump set up and really enjoyed it, particularly during the winter. It will be good to see you open again and here's hoping for success with the new ventures.
Please please please make a slope style park. There’s plenty of down hill in wales but no decent dirt jumping. I would love to see wooden drops, north shore and big jumps from roll ins. UK destination for Crankworks? Air bag and foam pits would be wicked too. So great to see you’ve got a plan to get moving quick. Really looking forward too it. If you guys do community dig days then I’d love to come and muck in!
Well the hope is to have a bit of something for everyone when the rebuild journey is complete. Foam pit would be pretty cool if we can get the indoor building built. Cheers for commenting and following....
This sounds great guys, rode at Revs once but would love to see you developing as a hub - agree it looks like there's a great range of bridleways that could be a great network. Love to have another reason to get up to such a beautiful part of Wales. Just so long as there's good coffee and cake for afters!
I think you have been very smart to be so adaptable. After all it might encourage a cross over and alternative interest. The amount of work have to go through is staggering and I admire you perseverance.
Great plan to generate income and diversify into other genres of cycling! Even if its just a coffee and cake stop, it's a great plan to bring footfall to the park. Cant wait to see the rebuild!
Great solid ideas and plans, I wish you all the luck with them. Anytime you can add multi use facilities the better maybe add Hiking/walking paths. on a side note I'm not sure if you have mobile food trucks over there like in the USA. But having a rotation of food vendors in the car park/Cafe area would lower your cost and give local food vendors away to add sales to there companies.
I appreciate the kind words, outsourcing elements of the business is a potential idea particularly in the early days, however some of these elements will be the main sources of income for the park so its something that needs to be considered carefully
Used to (re)develop petrol stations which involved a lot of contaminated land remediation. Make sure you engage a decent geo engineer. A pragmatic engineer (typically the smaller firms) will develop a much more affordable strategy than your larger ‘award winning’ ones. Engage a few before you commit, it’ll pay dividends.
Thanks for the tip, its certainly a tricky road and we appreciate any input, we have a couple of decent MTB riding surveyors looking at it so hopefully we will find a good way forward.
@@revolutionbpno problem, planners will typically leave it open for the consultants / engineers to submit a suitable remediation strategy for approval as a condition. Some engineers will engineer themselves a load of unnecessary & expensive work into a strategy, telling you it’s critical, where others will provide what’s necessary, nothing more & nothing less. Be sure that what you submit presents good value to you, both financially & morally. Typically if you’ve capped the contam with clean & deal with any contaminated arisings on site during construction you’ll be fine. Also ensure any civils designs disrupt as little contam as possible. Multi use (shared) service trenches, shallow / pad foundations, economic drainage runs etc will save a fortune in contaminated waste disposal. It’s can be cheaper to raise levels with clean than enter contaminated ground, particularly if you have the material to do so on site.
This sounds mint, I know its only plans at present, but this sort of cycling hub, for all riders, is an incredible ambition. More and more people ride everything these days, and facilities that cater for all types of riding and all types of rider are surely the future. Diversifying the business model of the park is a no brainer too, should help to ensure the financial viability of the business. I know this will be a long and hard road, but I hope you guys get to where you want to be. Here for the ride, wherever it goes. 👍🏼
Sadly I never got to go to revs, as I started riding in summer 2020, but I only rode about once a week; and then had gcse exams in 2022 so never really rode much as focused on them, and until 2023 I hadn’t progressed much other than the odd few jumps and drops and stuff, but since 2023 I’ve been hitting bigger 10ft plus jumps and drops, hit my first road gap, and doing really steep stuff, so currently I’m at the ability I could ride some of revolution bike park if it were open.
Amazing idea about bridleways. I'm local and often come through/nearby on XC or gravel bike. If there was a better off road route over to Vyrnwy, without slogging through heather, I reckon a lot of people would use it. I'd be up for helping out with this.
Also not sure what area you are in but the community initiative in Llanfyllin has set up a new bike club which is also aiming to do work developing the local bridleways, might be worth keeping an eye on how that develops.
It's a slight disappointment the downhill won't be returning so soon but completely the right way forward! Adapt to the situation and see the evolution of revolution!
Hi. Big fan of your place.. thanks for the vid. Kinda made me want to buy a hoody like yours. Maybe a slightly higher priced limited edition.. save the park revo hoody/ t shirt would bring in some revenue? I think alot of bikers wouldnt mind paying abit extra if it helps. Every penny counts 🤔
Keep watching this space as we are planning on doing merch alongside the rebuild, starting feb/mar with the replanting. We should have some cool designs by then.
Very good plan: #revs4evs And off to learn how to make a belt 🎉 PS: Lots of people visiting, watching but not subscribing: if you read this, why not just click the bell?
Hope Revs comes back bigger and better than ever. Amazing place. Wondering if it would help to sell Revolution merch off your website for a bit of extra funds whilst you're closed?
We are planning to start doing merch to coincide with the replanting in Feb/Mar as this will coincide with the planting which is technically the first step of rebuilding. We did look into it before hand but the margins aren't as great as you might think for the volumes we do and when you add on other costs like re-activating the website etc. its not an easy thing to start/stop all the time.
Have you thought about a go fund me page? With the intro of e-bikes there are so many bikers using the available trails now a new/rebuilt park to visit would awesome and well worth a donation. Hopefully this would help the set up and to get it up and running… just a thought…
Certainly something we are looking into, as mentioned in the video though we want to use this kind of thing to support the physical redevelopment rather than the planning phases as that we know we can deliver something in return for the support. Plans are still a little up in the air so don't want to go to much into it but expect us to be starting this conversation in the new year.
Will the indoor park be for dirt jumps? Like Dirt Factory in MCR? I've moved back down to N.Wales and my very expensive Trek Ticket S is just sat here ATM because there's many dirt jump spots down here. Would love an indoor DJ park
The hope would be to do all kind of events, competitions and jam days in there but at the moment its in a bit of a sorry state so not really useable. The ideal would be to find a sponsor/pro looking for a venue for an event or film and use this as a mechanism for the development. Feel free to pester any celeb riders (in a polite way) who are looking for a venue and tell them to reach out to us.
Glad there is progress happening, hope it all works out guys. I really do. Is there any chance youll open the shop on the site again? Might be a more... sustainable way to crowd fund? I want a hoodie!!
A retail space will almost certainly be a part of the new development. We are also looking at starting to do merch in early spring to time with the beginning of the replanting, which is the first major step in the rebuild.
Great to hear this, hopefully you can start building soon. Are you going to try and rescue most of the freeride line and maybe extend it,i could literally spend the whole day just on that😁. I have also been to places where there is a photographer taking pictures during the day,you can then go online at a later date, see if there's any of you and then purchase them, another way of generating income.
Cheers bud. The freeride took a bit of a hammering during the work but yes it will certainly be coming back and the plan is to extend it significantly in the rebuild. Jo, who makes these videos use to do photography at the park under the model you suggest. It is certainly something we would like to bring back but its a tough job sitting out in the snow and rain all day, and the sales were always hit an miss in terms of whether it pays enough to be worthwhile. Fortunately she loved taking pics so did it anyway.
Between Jo (resident Revs photographer) and me (ex Revs driver and part-time Dyfi photographer) there should definitely be some photography going on at Revs when it reopens 😃
I remember when this happened at nannarch pre and post felling, completely changed the feel of the track its was crazy it was the same run but but way faster and looser.
How about an air bag to practice on? I'm sure the lesser skilled riders (like me) would like to hit a good sized jump without worrying about injuries? Lol
We are planting a mix of species on the hill which includes some faster growing pines which are being positioned to maximise the creation of weather cover and this does include around major trail areas. Obviously the concept of a fast growing tree is still relative and we are still talking years not months. The ability to stay on site is something we are certainly keen on, particularly once we have better facilities.
Great aspirational plans - from small acorns……. I know your previous core business was aimed and acclaimed for serving the great demand for DH riders but in widening your scope to incorporate all areas of cycling especially the phenomenal growth of Emtbs is much missing in the UK. Opening up more trails and access to cater for the now great expanse of cyclists of all abilities too is a great plan and often overlooked. Along with the aims to improve the local environment I think your local council planners are being very, very short sighted 🤓 If they are ‘worried’ and bleating about environmental impacts - have they actually looked at what the rest of Europe is doing up in the sacred Alps - everyone is a winner! 😎
Its a complicated conversation, there is a pretty wide gulf between theoretical support and practical support when it comes to bureaucratic processes. Hopefully the merits of the business will be enough to overcome the barriers but only time will tell. Fortunately for you guys that's what we do for a job, we fight the fights needed to get it set up so you guys come and shred the jumps and trails, in exchange for throwing a few sheckles into the pot of course 😉
Dedicated campervan/camping spots are something we are pretty keen on. We have always turned a blind eye to people staying if they caused no problems although it was technically against the rules. In the future we would probably look to charge but only as a result of offering a better service e.g. better facilities, electrical hook up...
Very tough to rise the money and not sell your sole or go bust in the years to come, get going organically would be my advise. As for pump track and roadie cafes there are plenty of these all ready so I wouldn't over spend in that area. In door jumps just don't pay the bills in my experience that's why there aren't many. Look at what Athertons are doing there is a market, what ever you do good luck.
Certainly fair, we are not underestimating the challenge here and any investment made in this phase will only be as part of a longer term return to the DH bike park model. The pump track is a big if, would be nice particularly for the local community/kids to use but depends on a lot of other factors. As for roadie/road side cafe, we do sit on a popular tourist route with little other in the way of options but I agree it would only ever be a little extra not a core market. Lots to be figured out as I said in the video this is us laying out our plans and aspirations but we all know what happens to plans when exposed to reality.
If you aren't allowed a toilet I can't see the council allowing a whacking great dirtjump barn. Good luck though. I'll happily do some ebike self uplifts when open.
Yeah its a complicated process but the issues aren't really about the type or scale of the development just development itself. If we can find a way through it then lots of possibilities open up but it's by no means a sure thing. Hopefully we can find a way though it and you can be powering up the hill on your ebike in the not to distant future.
My grandad who lives near bpw told me that they got given just over a million pound grant by the government. Would be great if they gave you the same. It would make the park rad
We are looking into grant funding, it's always a difficult and complicated road but given the potential benefits to the area the business brings it is a good candidate. There are ways to move forward that don't require it but obviously the more financial backing we have the better facilities we can create.
We will look into patreon or channel memberships would help, difficult thing at the moment is being able to make consistent content as the progress is all a bit dull and bureaucratic. When and if we get into construction things will be a bit more interesting so will certainly have it in place by then.
Definitely point him in the direction of Jo's channel, jhleather. Lots of cool projects on there. If he is more experienced and has tools etc. then check out the patterns for making stuff from scratch.
I appreciate the kind words and this sentiment is not something that is lost on us. The plans here are a first step to getting us back to DH but with the time it is going to take to redevelop the forest we need something to keep the business alive and working in this area in the meantime and that is what this step is all about. Whether its feasible or not is still to be determined.
Hi, i'm a Geo-environmental engineer and found the whole mining contaminated land status very interesting. I'm assuming you've had a phase 1 desk study done? and by the sounds maybe you've done a phase 2 ground investigation, implemented some remediation in the car parking area and verification works? I'm fairly junior still, but have been doing it for a few years and although I haven't personally had any sites involving mining risk assessments, my company Jomas Associates Ltd definitely have and could probably help with getting any planning conditions addressed associated with contaminated land or mines. Mostly the footprint hardstanding of the new development buildings and thickness imported clean material over membrane would usually provide a suitable barrier between the contam soils/material and the end users of the site, but that can be somewhat expensive. We're always doing verification visits to sign off remediated sites etc. and carry out ground investigations and write reports addressing planning conditions all the time. EHO's can be absolute buggers! If I can be of help let me know - Stuart.
Have just given the planning application from 2019 a quick review, and see the EHO has given a lot of comments about the refusal etc. he wanted a scheme of investigation before phase 2 ground investigation went ahead. Will give this a bigger look into soon.
Apologies for the slow reply, only just seen this. I have someone advising on this side of the development but I would be keen to speak to you and hear your thoughts on the subject if you would be interested. You can reach out to us via the contact page on our website if you are interested. Thanks for your thoughts either way.
From a financial point of veiw i can't see it working. The cost of the infrastructure is in the 100s of 1000s. Realistically, are there enough riders willing to forget about Dyfi to pay to ride dirt jumps to cover the commercial loans?
It's a fair point and certainly not a given at this stage. What ends up being there will in part be determined by how it is funded and the ongoing running costs. The initial investment would very much be reliant on the long term redevelopment of the DH/uplift services in order to be viable. In the short term the cost of operating would need to be kept low as the revenue potential from this model would be lower than from the uplift. The park has never made large sums of money, particularly for myself and James but that's never been our motivation for doing it, if we believe we can keep the business in the black we will pursue it. Ultimately though that is why the feasibility study is so important as it will help us to determine the long term scope of the project and if its possible, particularly given the external requirements we are going to need to satisfy.
This is how ALL trail centres and bike parks should aspire to be. A hub for all riders of abilities and disciplines to encourage and grow the sport as a whole 👍

Sounds like a great plan for the future Tim. I’ll be more than happy to jump on the tools and come help out for nothing. Let me know! Can’t wait! 🤘🏼
Cheers bud, keep following as I am sure at some point we will be reaching out for support!
@@revolutionbp definitely.. hope you guys are good! 👍
+1 for indoor jump track
The very best of luck 👍
Cheres bud
Very good plan: #revs4evs
And off to learn how to make a belt 🎉
PS: Lots of people visiting, watching but not subscribing: if you read this, why not just click the bell?
Cheers bud, hope your belt turns out well :p
Yes, at least the plan is for the jumps indoors to be predominantly of a dirt jump style
Some bloody great plans!
Would you consider opening the quarry jumps of you did some jam days?
@@revolutionbp sorry should have said website... Will there be a store on the website soon?
This, make sure you advertise your weekend cake a week in advance, roadies often plan their rides by cafe and cake stops 👌
Will certainly be interesting to see how the hill develops as the forest regrows and the rebuild happens.
Awsome bike park an can't wait to come but I won't bring me mate
How about an air bag to practice on? I'm sure the lesser skilled riders (like me) would like to hit a good sized jump without worrying about injuries? Lol
@@turniptowers yep. And also a mulch landing, like at Twisted Oaks
Definitely something we have considered and mulch pit as mentioned below, an indoor space opens a lot of possibilities.
Good luck 🤞🏻
Cheers Bud
Could you focus on planting trees along the sides the trails so they grow first? Also are there any plans to allow for camping on site?
We are planting a mix of species on the hill which includes some faster growing pines which are being positioned to maximise the creation of weather cover and this does include around major trail areas. Obviously the concept of a fast growing tree is still relative and we are still talking years not months.
The ability to stay on site is something we are certainly keen on, particularly once we have better facilities.
@@revolutionbp I wondered what the cost and possibility of planting trees that already have a few years growth is that something that could happen?
I’m keen to take the trip up there from rural Herefordshire once you’re up and running although I stop short on the skill set to get big air!😆
Sounds amazing, will we be able to stay overnight in our van and use your facilities, at a cost of course?
Setup a Patreon to post these videos to early. This will allow those who want to support by providing a monthly sum to you to do so.
We will look into patreon or channel memberships would help, difficult thing at the moment is being able to make consistent content as the progress is all a bit dull and bureaucratic. When and if we get into construction things will be a bit more interesting so will certainly have it in place by then.
My dad is into leather making, I’ll head over and have a look
Definitely point him in the direction of Jo's channel, jhleather. Lots of cool projects on there. If he is more experienced and has tools etc. then check out the patterns for making stuff from scratch.
Revs is all about being the best downhill park in the uk, hate to say it but I’d stick to what you know best….
I appreciate the kind words and this sentiment is not something that is lost on us. The plans here are a first step to getting us back to DH but with the time it is going to take to redevelop the forest we need something to keep the business alive and working in this area in the meantime and that is what this step is all about. Whether its feasible or not is still to be determined.
what do roadies use as contraception?
their personalities! 😎
Wow! The mtb community would be far poorer without people like you. Best of luck.
Thanks bud, we are doing our best to keep the dream alive
Revs4Evs!
Cheers from Canada, eh! :D \m/
Great to hear from our brethren in the MTB holy land 😜. Hope you can get over to us when we are back up and running.
Phoenix Bike Park
Could be a good rename, but I am afraid its revs4evs
#revs4evs
That's the plan 😀
revs 4 evs!
Gotta keep the wheels turning.
Revs for eves
That's the plan 😀
Your better halfs lever company make lever gimp suits asking for a friend 😁
@revolutionbp Good luck either way. I loved the set up at Revs. Your Coffee game could have improved though.
How is anyone going to get to you with all them Lycra wearers peddling up and down the roads
It's fine they tend to be going up the hills whilst we are riding down the hills, lol
Why not just be transparent? Sold trees to pay to rebuild.
