Don't you guys like that your Monster can attack directly when the opponents have no monsters? What a unique effect.
@ It is supposed to be a joke because all monsters that have no restriction on attacking directly have the ability to attack directly when the opponent has no monsters. There is barely any benefit to keeping that one in defense, except the extra 500 points for tanking.
@@lpfan4491 I could tell it was a joke and I laughed really hard. XD
It's too broken
@ I know you're joking, but can't like all of superheavy samurai attack in defense position
@ is he the only one? I thought there were more. My bad then
"HERO Flash"?
Never heard of it.
"HERO Flash!!" ?
Oh yeah, I know that card.
Hero flash with 2 exclamation points!!
You have to say the whole thing
I love this comment.
@@iCANTsleep2 HERO, in all caps, Flash with 2 exclamation points!!
now THATS the whole thing 😎
Plasma ball has a really good synergy with a uncommon strategy, called "losing faster than usual"
Not really. There are probably hundreds of cards which do that job much better. Just look at any self-burn deck in Duel Links.
That is destructive draw. Very easy mistake to make.
Also be good combo with meklord wisel
I love how he mantains the serious and professional voice no matter what dumb bullshit he goes over, like he keeps saying "Hero flash - with two exclamation points" or when he stated, in the video about illegal cards, about the seal of Orichalcos: "This is also the only card in the game that can make you lose your soul", like he was just casually mentioning a card which happened to have a unique effect.
I still remember he trying to keep posture when talking about a horrible Cyber Dragon fusion card, you could feel the want to swear in that video, but he kept his cool anyway.
@@briansilva3765 In what video? =)
He even keeps that in the chaos duals (for the most part anyways) show he does with Hardleg.
Thats his entire thing lol. His matter-o-fact tone is part of his charm
LOL. That Orichalcos vid is my favorite video of his all time, so hilarious. The "2 exclamation points" this video also caught my attention and made me chuckle haha.
The idea of Plasma Ball (as well as Torpedo Penguin) was to represent a "missile". They attack, inflict damage, and then leave the field so they don't be attacked or controlled by the opponent. I'm not saying they're good or even a viable strategy, but that's the idea.
Basically, it's like old spell cards like Ookazi, but wasting a summon.
The effect is for lore reasons
It would be kind of annoying if Primo had it in Duel Links, while he was around. Albeit crappy, it is a way to bring out a Meklord Emperor.
Te gustan las bolas de plasma calientes, condorchavo?
Perhaps it's destruction could trigger a card effect?
@@Shay96 Good idea.
I think, the intended use of "Overpowering Eye", when it was released, was to use it on Vampire Lady or Vampire Lord, to abuse their effect, since their effect was not that bad back in the time
Even back when Vampire Lord was a boss monster no one played that spell as youre going into a minus to maybe attack directly assuming you dont get interrupted. Thats asuming the opponent doesn't have an out to Vampire Lord in the first place
@@soukenmarufwt5224 Well i only thought about a way to use this card in a positive way. I have never stated, that it would be a good card because of that.
And combined with their field spell, Vampire Kingdom, you inflict 500 more damage, mill a card from both your opponent and your deck, and destroy one of your opponent’s cards, it would of made the combo all that more powerful. Just two problems with it; you can use Vampire Grace with Vampire Kingdom to do the same thing with one less card and without attacking so you don’t risk setting off a battle trap (if they even played them in the Xyz era), and it came out too little too late.
I could see this getting some use with some of the more recent vampire support, considering there’s a card that lets you pay life points to amp the attack of a monster, and then you gain life points equal to the damage you deal. Assuming you have a decent life point total, I could see this being somewhat useful.
Two things I learned from this video:
1) It's always pronounced 'Hero Flash with Two Exclamation Points'
2) The real tragedy of 'Checkmate' was it took a great card name and wasted on a support card for a Monster no one uses.

"Worst cards that interact with the field spells ne Umi"
And maybe later same but best Umi cards for comparison. Like with the hero fusions
I really thought Dark Scorpion Combination was going to be on this list 😮 You know, “Just get 5 specific bad monsters on the field and you can inflict a whopping 2000 direct damage this turn! :D”
Well keep in mind that Dark Scorpions have effects that activate when they inflict damage by attacking directly, so the idea is to generate even more advantage using DS Combination. It’s definitely not a good card by any means, but still better than stuff like Alien Infiltrator where I’d have to contact Konami directly to understand what the hell its purpose was supposed to be.
@@KoriKeiji Yeah. 5 of Don Zaloog's troop to come out and *survive* is hard yet at least they stay there. Gorg is awesome with his high offense and then there's the Chick man. Link-5 maybe. Linkable at least.

@@TheDuelLogs can you make the best version of cards that strike direct.
I resonate specifically with the Number 10 spot especially with the Structure Deck it got reprinted in back in the day. Lol. Combine it with A Legendary Ocean (making him Level 3) and Gravity Bind/Level Limit Area B, you'd be able to just attack the opponent over and over without their big beaters being able to attack. Lol. People hated me for it. 😅
That strategy was pretty annoying, I have to admit.
Atlantean Dragoons, too
This is why I adore Xyz Monsters, they're immune to Level-based effects.
Put 3 of them and a limiter removal and kaboom!
I swear there was a time when Gravity Bind was the bane of every beater deck's existence. Especially when used with Imperial Order which protected it from nearly all the cards used back then to destroy or remove an opponents backline (Heavy Storm, MST, Giant Truenade, etc). After that all you needed was a few low level monsters that could attack directly and you've won the game.

A list of "the most outclassed cards" might be an idea for a video. Like how Hero Barrier is a HERO battle protection card but only a 1 time use, you may as well just use Mirror Force to stop attacking monsters or even better, Negate Attack to instantly end the battle phase. Not sure how to define the difference between cards that are retrains and cards that are just completely outclassed though.
Plasma Ball, an electric ball that self-destructs on attack, C'MON, you can't tell me you don't realize that's a voltorb!!!!!
Plasma Ball might be decent for effects that activate when you deal battle damage specifically, but you're worried your opponent will have either high stat monsters or have a monster like Yubel that would stop you attacking through it, without having to leave yourself vulnerable during their turn with a low attack monster in attack position
"This monster can attack directly when your opponent has no monsters on the field"
This monster can also be tributed if the game state doesn't have any effects that prevent tributing.
If this monster would be destroyed by a card effect, you can tribute this monster, negate the activation.

Overpowering Eye is quite useful for the Vampire monsters since several of them have 2000 or less attack and OE makes it easy to activate their effects
I think it's better if you just run cards that get rid of your opponent's monsters so that they can attack directly
Yeah, it was used by a vampire-user in the manga, and its whole design and thematics are very clearly vampiric.

I come back here everyday to download any new vids you got , for work. And I swear it feels like weeks in-between uploads 🙈 that's not me complaining btw duel logs, that's me saying how much I enjoy your videos! Lol always waiting for the next one! And the fact it feels much longer then it is just means how much I enjoy them !! Lol also they're such an interesting time to watch!
Don't forget rapid warrior
There are two problems with it's direct attack effects:
1. You have to trigger it's effect during Main Phase 1 to gain the ability to attack directly
2. Your other Monsters cannot attack this turn, so if your opponent negates/destroys Rapid warrior, this downside continues
But at least on the bright side it's ATK is high for a ATK directly beater. So I guess that's something. You can probably equip 3x mage powers and ATK directly and it may win u the duel
People underestimate Rapid Warrior. It can work really good in Burn Spell/Trap decks. That little extra is enough to drain your opponent turn after turn making your burn combos more effective. Since your not playing other monsters, low risk, high reward.

There are several things I love about these videos that make me keep watching them, and one of them is that normally you have a calmly professional voice when you're speaking, but that also means another of my favorite things is when you add occasional bits of emotion or slightly-less-professionalism. Such as here, when, even with all the videos you've done and all the card knowledge you've shown, you say that "I'm not really sure what the point of this card is" and even put it in text just to make it even clearer how bad it is.
Ahh yes Mucus Yolk and Raging Flame Spirit with Mage Power and the fighting spirit. Good times
I used to play Amphibious Bugroth in alot of the older yugioh video games. It wasn't too bad in those situations. Also, i heard Elemental Hero Mariner can deal a good amount of damage when combined with some specific cards.
Finally you covered a Watt monster for longer than a minute. My favorite archtype.
I'd love to see a best and Worst Insect cards list. This can include Spell and Trap Cards as well.
And the video starts showing "Jowls of Dark Demise", which was useful only in Duelist of the Roses, cuz it had a different effect there xP
I thought Mucus Yolk was one of the dumbest effect monsters I've ever seen, but then that Plasma Ball thing showed up. This is probably a reach, but the whole attacking then dying thing might be a parody or homage to Voltorb and Electrode and how they're well known for Self-Destruct and Explosion, are Electric types, and balls with eyes.
It honestly just feels like the dumb cousin of the classic Magic card Ball Lightning, which has a similar gimmick (deals piercing damage but dies at the end of the turn it's summoned on)
With pitiful attack to explode with.
@@Prince_Eva_Huepow That would actually be fairly accurate if it was a Voltorb and Electrode homage or parody. Self-Destruct and Explosion are awful moves for them thanks to their lackluster Attack stat.

AA-Zeus: allow me to introduce myself
Oh god, that takes me back. I had a ton of Raging flame sprites back in the day, I only ever really had it be useful once or twice but it was so much fun.
I was never sure, by it's wording it makes it seem like the card itself gains that 1000 attack so back in the days of schoolyard duels whenever it'd get bricked if I got a monster reborn I'd bring it back and slam it into the other guys life points. If I got lucky I have a sword hunter basically stealing all my opponents monsters at the same time.
Good times.
I can't believe I'm so early, this is new, but I love your channel and content do this makes me happy
Wow, these are all very viable and amazing cards
The thing that bothers me to no end about Rampart Blaster is the mechanic for attacking directly in defence position requiring the opponent to have no monsters on the field.
I think that was "not" an oversight by Konami. They generally felt at the time that the effect was too powerful so they put major limits on that card to be unsuccessful outside of casual duels...
Yeah I feel like MAYBE it should've been an anime only card (Just like Doom Virus Dragon which is the only reason why the HORRIBLE errata for Crush Card Virus is a thing in the TCG)
I just like that this card is on this list despite not being able to attack directly.
@@aroperdope As far as I can tell, it was some ruling by a judge that was taken as gospel despite it clearly being neither the intent of the card's wording, nor the intent as demonstrated by the show. Back in the day, it was seen as a top example of a "Because Konami Said So" ruling: that is to say, a ruling that makes no sense and makes a card borderline unplayable. Legendary Fisherman was another prime example.
My thought is that the reason the worst cards videos do better than the best cards video is about variety. Oftentimes I notice in your 'worst of' videos you discuss cards we haven't heard of before or discuss potential work arounds to either make them work or potential fixes for the cards.
I really enjoy your banned cards videos due to the potential analysis you provide on how to fix the cards to make them not broken.
Back in the early days of duel links when everyone was playing toons I missed the pegasus event and ended up making a deck around raging flame sprite and a lot of equip spells to boost it's ATK. @@AxisChurchDevotee yeah, but the person you replied to said cards that don't support their own archetype. Anaconda still supports Predaplant, quite well actually, as its effect to change the attribute also ties in with Predaplant
Batteryman Solar could be at the bottom. Since while its seen play in Thunder Dragons you CAN also use it in a Batteryman deck to provide graveyard setup needed to bring out Industrial Strength (Which requires the banishing of 2 Batteryman monsters from the grave to hit the field)
I would really like a series of worst monsters of each type, or a video on worst cards in comparison to their own archetype, like how Fallen of Albaz doesn't quite work in dogmatika decks because they lock you out of your extra deck, and Albaz fusion summons and is heavily implied to be part of the archetype.

Surprised there wasn't anything about Toon Cards. Like how Toon Blue Eyes and Toon Mermaid Girl, require to go through the same set up as other Toons of:
Needing a Toon World Card,
Monsters to tribute for them,
Have the Toon effect of not being able to attack on their first turn,
and then have to be able to tribute a monster in order to finally attack.

I Had That Issue With Rampart Blaster Where He Couldn't Attack In Defense Unless Your Opponent Had No Monsters In The YuGiOh 2006 Tournament Championship Game For GBA
Didn't hear it in the video, so thought I'd mention one thing about Infernity Archer.
The Dark Signer version of Kalin Kessler/Kyosuke Kiryu has a skill in Duel Links that lets you start with Hundred Eyes Dragon on your field, so all that's left for you to do is find a way to dump Archer into the grave on your turn.
This is the only legitimate use of Archer I have seen to this date and it's not even an OHKO because the Dragon only has 3k ATK.
Thought I'd mention this since Duel Logs likes mentioning stuff in Duel Links as well as the TCG.

I miss A Legendary Ocean Gravity Bind/Level Limit Area B lockdown with Amphibious Bugroth MK-3. It wasn't good but it was fun. Also, Plasma Ball may be a reference to Ball Lightning from MtG, it's a 6/1 for RRR that has trample and haste and kills itself at the end of the turn. Somewhat similar concept.
Overpowering Eye is used for the Vampire Deck, using Vampire Lord (2000Atk Zombie) to "mill" the Opponents deck through direct attacking. Since he just mills 1 specific card the strategy is useless, but hey atleast the designs of that archtype are kind of cool
I built a whole deck around Rampart blaster and infernal sniper. It actually works really well but if Rampart blaster is nerfed it does fall apart.
My friend built a fun Mucus Yolk deck with Gravity Bind/Messenger of Peace and United We Stand/Mage Power. It was fun.
I used Battle Teleportation once in my Kozmo, where it allowed my Farmgirl to attack directly, helping me pickup Dark Destroyer in thr process
Maybe plasma ball was introduce for meklord emperor , they summon themself when one of your card on field is destroy by a card effect.
I used HERO Flash!! not for the direct attack, but to get Neos out, in order to try and get a Neos fusion out. It doesn't always work, and yeah it's pretty convoluted, but when it works it works.
15:37 That's because we love hearing about old school cards!!
You could probably do some wacky stuff with Plasma Ball. I think there's a Meklord or two that can Special Summon itself from your hand when one of your monsters is destroyed by a card effect, so you can summon Plasma Ball, go to the Battle Phase, have Plasma Ball attack directly, then Special Summon a Meklord and attack with it.
One idea I had was for a video about the cards with the harshest or most convoluted activation costs that are actually worth all that hassle.

Suggested it before, but it would be cool to see a Top 10 Worst Card Changes from the OCG to the TCG, because there are probably tons of cards out there that got worse when ported over to the TCG, like Rampart Blaster.
Came for the WATT compilation. Was (un)pleasantly surprised.
i remember water deck was pretty strong in back in early days when i was still elementary (about 11yrs ago?) that its compete against zombie deck (top deck that time in tournament....ryu kokki, vampire lord, soul banishing, sakuretsu armor.....)
and water build i remember was pretty close to fury from the deep structure deck but either burn valiant or pure water
and its basic combo is legendary ocean then level limit area b or gravity bound bind then direct attack with amphibious bugroth or burn dmg with effect
I suggest making a top 10 worst positive card effects and also top 10 best and worst cards that send a card(s) from deck to graveyard
The fact that some cards like Rampart Blaster straight up works differently between the OCG and TCG is one of the dumbest aspects of Yu-Gi-Oh
Raging flame sprite was the og oppressive card in this type back then it was used all the time when I grew up
I personally would love to see a list of 10 effect monsters with beneficial effects worse than penguin knight
Plasma ball can be used in meklords to summon out your key card while dealing chip damage during the battle phase. Terribly niche, but it has a little usage.
Expected glow Moss to be here since it give the opponent a free draw if it wants to direct attack, but that draw has to be a spell card
At least Drill Barnacle, Mucus Yolk, and Raging Flame Sprite can benefit from the Union Monster, Leng Ling. The Union support can give you some fun interactions in the Battle Phase! That's about it, though.
As a kid I used to use mk3 in my legendary stun deck, as it was a 1700 beater and could attack through gravity bind with the level reduction. Childhood memories lol
9:51 there was a deck I ran in duel links that where you could use the fusion equip monsters with power of the guardians and these monsters that could consistently OTK the opponent almost every match. It wasn’t even meant for pvp, it was for the Rex Goodwin event to solo his raid boss that had well over 100,000 health. They ended up nerfing the hell out that deck.
Mucus Yolk: Strange combination of Type and Attribute as a Dark Aqua....
Tearlaments nowaday:)))
If you want to know how a good direct attack monster looks like: Pair Cycroid.
It is a fusion monster, so it is not a brick when some direct damage does not improve your board state. It can be summoned with any machine monsters, so you don't need to run bad cards just for fusion material. It does not have any restrictions, so it can directly attack no matter what.
Sure, you are not going to summon Pair Cycroid every duel, but when you are just 1600 damage away from winning, you are glad you have the option.
Battle Teleportation was absolutely intended to be a "finishing move" for Psychics. It appeared once in the 5D's anime and the "give control to the opponent" part of the effect never came up because it was used to deliver a finish.
