Fun fact: A lot of people used to play low level ice barriers with the Wetlands field spell. If you tribute summon Royal Knight and the token is summoned with Wetlands on the field, the token is stronger than the knight
Damnit, you said it first.
Rata said that too
Violet Edge Well not him specifically, but somebody in his comment section did bring it up before I did, yeah
@@trueblueryu5713 I don't see how that would be useful ( but I have never played ice barriers, so that might explain it)
@@acediadekay3793 "I don't see how that would be useful" sums up the ice barriers archetype pretty well, most of there effects are horrible. I'd play a vanilla deck over them and do better.
Manga Insect Queen was a little more worthy of the "boss monster" title. It got boosted by 400 for every Insect, lacked the tribute-to-attack requirement, and the Tokens it summoned had 1200 ATK. Still not great, but a 2600 beater with the potential to rise to a 5200 with decent field setup is quite acceptable for the era.
I would like to point out that for reasons beyond my understanding.... insect queen has boobs... why god only knows...
@@Lh0000
Weevil was a weird and creepy guy.
@@Bezaliel13 Yes, but he didn't make the card. Pegasus did.
@@nexusshark
Oh man, I just remembered that Pegasus made the cards based on tablets with spirits sealed in them, so the "real" *Insect Queen probably did too.*
I thought she had the tribute-to-attack thing. I distinctly recall it eating a monster each turn.
The last one doesn't even combo with Raviel because....you are going to discard him.
At the absolute best, you MIGHT be able to use it today with Fallen Paradise. But even then, you'd have to topdeck into Raviel, and modern Sacred Beast decks prefer using Dark Summoning Beast for bringing them out anyway.
Unless you first played Dark Summoning Beast, used it to summon Hammon or Uria, then played Phantasmal Martyrs for the 3 Tokens and finally banished Dark Summoning Beast from your GY to get Raviel and Tribute the Tokens to Special Summon him.
@@infinityoverlord8824 The issue is one card came out 11 years after the other one.
Some of the GX cards are just baffling. Phantasmal Martys discarding any Raviel you have in your hand is 1 of those, but it had all kinds of other counter-productive stuff, like the evolved Helios monsters Special Summoning themselves from the GY while they're supposed to be played with Macro Cosmos...
just topdeck another raviel next turn
Wait wat, you have to discard your entire hand to get tokens to summon a monster, but you can't because you discarded it.
yeah, instead of say discard/send whatever 2 or you could add raviel after the discard so to summon it, send your entire hand. Then what's the purpose of 2 cards restriction for the tokens?
@@brandol75 It is *nothing;* it is just the cost is too bad for a bad deck
It should not send cards to GY since the deck itself draws much brick which can make the card better
@@brandol75 The cleanest change would be simply stating "discard two cards" and that's it. Still a steep cost, but at least it would allow the card to function as people expect it to be used.
Actually after activating that you can use the effect of Dark Summoning Beast from your GY and search him out.
I'd love to see a list of best cards to use with Diamond Dude
Beginning of the end
@@davethespade4539 ojama delta hurricane is pretty good too
^ this, a deck that's just random spell one-off that get overpowered if you ignore their restrictions with diamond dude would be fun
The old-school Airblade Turbo would run Dimension Fusion, Monster Gate, Magical Stone Excavation, and Destiny Draw as the main cards that get something out of Diamond Dude. They're all viable in their own right, but Diamond Dude makes them fucking absurd.
I think the Inzektor version is better. Not sure what it does off hand though.
He didn’t say “Ojama Try-o” in this video. 0/10
Connor Healy I clapped
Literally scrolled down to the comments after hearing that
I actually yelled out loud just now when I heard him say tree-oh, like man, how many years did it take to say it right lol
He made up for it by butchering Uria and Raviel instead
In this case I think Uria was the obligatory mispronunciation. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on Raviel, as that sounds like an unintentional mispronunciation, and may or may not be similar to how I pronounce the card's name.
The thing I found most amusing about Phantasmal Martyrs is that it’s so obviously intended to summon Raviel like you stated, but discarding your hand would mean you wouldn’t have it in your hand anyway to summon, unless you had another card already on the field that could add Raviel to your hand.
Or in your hand.
I gather that by now there is a card with a graveyard effect to search out a Sacred Beast.
That Junk Warrior combo is actually really neat, I didn't know it could do that.
Chewbone has one thing over Ojama Trio: you can tribute its tokens. Before MR4 I ran Sphere Mode Turbo and used Chewbone to guarantee the monsters to tribute.
Decklist?
Chewbone with lava golem
@@muggtor and that's not even a good combo
The irony of Jam Breeding Machine is that it was used by Marik to summon his Egyptian God Cards, but since you can’t summon other monsters, and God Cards cannot be Set, it is actually impossible to use them that way unless you use MST or Emergency Provisions, which is just inconvenient.
There a reprinted monster version of the card that's much better
Retrained*
I'm seeing lots of comments about Ojama Try-o, but not as many about Oohra, Lord of Searing Flames
Worst thing about "Phantasmal Martys" is that even if you have Raviel in your hand, you're gonna discard him for the effect to go off😂😂
1:39 Royal Knight Of The Ice Barrier. So many funny Moments from The Ice Barrier Archetype Archive video.
Jam breeding locked me out of my Egyptian God summons, and Nightmare Archfiend tokens bit me hard in the bum, when my messenger of peace was brutally removed.
Hey, you showed slifer when talking about Jam breeding Machine...... perfect card to use for that example. :)
@VerumRex It's not perfect in terms of actual use in the game. It's perfect because that's how it was used in the anime.
Bamboo scrap is limited in duel links because "they don't want your opponent to be locked out of plays."
Have you considered "what if.." kind of vids?
Like what if all lvl 5s could be normal summoned without tribute? Which cards would be suddenly good?
Or what if there were skills in ygo, like those in duel links. Which cards would work the best, with those skills
Funny thing is, I've been putting together a format based on Duel Links like that, where "Soul Cards" representing various original series characters have three abilities. One of Shadi's abilities allows the duelist using his Soul Card to Normal Summon or Set Level 5 monsters. Since he's used with a Rock deck in this format, he turns Enraged Muka Muka into a terrifying force. But let's look at some other older cards, seeing as how I'm mainly a pre-5Ds player.
I'd imagine that Vampire Lord and Airknight Parshath would see play again like in the old days, and theoretically, this could also make Mefist the Infernal General viable as well. Beefy monsters like Cyber-Tech Alligator and Armed Dragon LV5 would be much more usable, and ALO would extend this to make Level 6 WATER Monsters such as Amphibian Beast be Normal Summoned without Tributes. Given enough setup, Shadow Ghoul could also fit this.
If we open it up to Setting Level 5 monsters as well, then defensive walls such as Labyrinth Wall, Millennium Shield and Neo Aqua Madoor (the latter again with ALO) would become much more usable. Nobleman-Eater Bug and Hade-Hane could be used to more easily clear out your opponent's front row. You could set Darklord Marie right away for another option for getting her into your Graveyard without risking your LP, piercers notwithstanding. The same kind of setup can also work for Elemental HERO Necroshade, making HERO decks more viable, and Helpoemer to mill your opponent's hand.
Now for some cards that would be moderately more usable. Berfomet would easily be able to search out Gazelle to help bring out Chimera if you so wished. Banish-heavy and Archfiend decks would be glad to have Lesser Fiend be able to be Normal Summoned. While it still wouldn't be that good, given how Trap cards aren't as feared as they used to be, there's also Reaper of the Cards to consider with his decently high DEF in addition to his Trap destruction effect. And then there's Aitsu, making it slightly easier to combo it with Koitsu for the lulz.
Gravekeeper's Chief and Guardian Tryce, on the other hand, would become less useful, as their revival effects only work if they're Tribute Summoned. Zaborg the Thunder Monarch's monster destruction effect also requires him to be Tribute Summoned, and similarly, you couldn't use ALO to get out Mobius the Frost Monarch and still get his effect off.
Rude Kaiser would be Tier 0 if it didn't need tributes xD
Make this top comment
Giga gagagigo would be the strongest in that case
@@pumpkingkingoftoons6185
Leo Wizard would beat him though, that's the strongest level 5 monster in the game
Aw, I was waiting for the return of Ojama Try-O
The only other use I can see for Star Siphon being somewhat viable would be to us it on a Synchro Tuner to summon something 1 level higher
I saw the card and the first thing I thought of was to use it on Accel Synchron. Then Accel Synchron can use its effect to raise its level again and you can synchro summon anything from 6-11 which isn't too bad. The show used it as a combo extender for stardust using a token copy of black rose and glow up bulb, so in any deck that can special summon its own tuners, it could be used as a combo extender still, like in black wings.
At first I thought this was gonna be a vid for cards that generate counters. Another possible top 10?
isn't this the exact same?
@@questrequested9171 no tokens are monsters on the field, counters are on monsters. Counters are normally used for activating effects and tokens are normally for tributing, ritual, fusion, synchro, xyz or link plays. Hopefully that made sense
@@mymetallicarulez oh wait yeah 😂 guess i also read this wrong instead

#9: Somewhere, Rata is screaming 😂😂😂
An Ice Coffin Token plus Wetlands is stronger than the damn creator.
Rata voice:"OK"
@@cbbblue8348 (inhales and takes a deep breath) Okay! So this entire effect would have been perfectly acceptable if the card was Level 4, but not only does this 2000 ATK Level 5 specifically have to be Tribute Summoned to make a Token (which is not optional by the way, this is your life now!) but the card was made during the Synchro era so if you didn't destroy the Token during the turn you Summoned it, you gave your opponent a free level for a Synchro. I would also say you gave him a free Link Material but I'm gonna be level-headed and assume nobody has attempted to Summon this in the last five years. The single solitary upside of this card is that in case your opponent has a monster you can't run over, you can Summon Royal Knight and ram into the Coffin for 1000 damage but ironically you just put yourself into a coffin because you wasted resources on summoning ROYAL KNIGHT OF THE FUCKING ICE BAR-
Darksymphony777 I love you.
Rata: Frogally amazing.
*I MESSED IT UP!*
By Ra, I really want Token Stampede in Duel Links. I'd main the hell out of Wetlands Jam Beatdown.
Funny thing about Arcana Force 18 is that you can use its bad effect to give itself to your opponent and then theyd have to either give it back next turn or give you one of their things, which can be a fun little thing.
That last card..discard your whole hand...so much for summoning the monster your were going summon.
WTF ! #1 makes you send your entire hand ! Then how the hell are you supposed to summon raviel ?!

Giovanni Orellana
Galaxy Tomahawk. Enough said.
Scapegoat.
Calling it now, insect queen is on the list because it needs the token to even attack.
Edit: hell yeah it made the list
And the tokens just become easy targets anyway
10:39
So basically the Arcana Force archetype.
5:00 Because Weevil had cheated, by having someone slip a card into Joey's deck that prompted one of Weevil's cards, which gave him a massive advantage(I think it made all of Joey's monsters Insect-type).
I wanna see a token beatdown deck now that sounds fun as hell
I've actually used one before Scapegoat got hit using things like united we stand, mage power and token sundae and it was ridiculous. I can send the decklist if you'd like, though I'm not sure how well it holds up now.
Token beatdown is wild fun, especially if you have Parasitic Ticky. In case you don't know, Parasitic Ticky is a lvl 1 bug that gains attack points equal to the number of token on the field multiplied by 500. If you're lucky with your opening hand, it's completely possible to OTK with this.
You could also try: top 10 archetype cards, that work best outside of their own archetype. Like the batteryman dude in thunder dragons.
Or the ultimate time Lord sephylon
salamangreat almiraj
The hwhole orcust archetype

In the Gx anime there was a monster that Mad Dog used that when Destroyed it summoned 3 Slime monster tokens.
Seems a bit op for a card to give 3 free link materials.
Insect Queen's design and how she uses her young to assist her... Is she spiritually meant to be based off the Alien Queen from the Alien series? Cause, whoa.
Duellogs: Joke Archetype ... Nothing but Bad cards ...
Ice Barrier Synchros: Are we a joke to you ? (Listen i know Gungnir is Kind of mediocre but Dewloreon, Brionac and Trishula are all really good)
What's a Dewloren again? I think he's good a tiger.
What about top 10 worst LP gaining cards?
#1 Blue Medicine
#1 would be "Mooyan Curry" actually
chain healing, blue medicine is at least a spell card lol
@JT Watts wich is more.use than most healing cards lol
@JT Watts Gift Card is insanely good in Nurse Burn, though. Not to mention it saw play in things like Hope For Escape Exodia or Life Equalizer OTK. It's a good card; it just needs its proper context.
You better believe I'm clicking on a DuelLogs video INSTANTLY
The obvious synergy with Phantasmal Martyrs is to summon Raviel, but you can't even necessarily do that with it. Because it makes you discard your entire hand, the only way you'd still be able to use the tokens that way immediately would be if you discarded a card(s) that allowed you to draw cards upon being discarded or sent to the graveyard, and then happen to draw Raviel when you do that. The real only good use for Phantasmal Martyrs is for some Rank 1 plays, but even that is done so much better by other strategies.
I remember playing against a guy with jam breeding machine and didn't get how it could be competitive. Then he played wetlands, token stampede, and opti-camouflage armor.
And then wiped the floor with you
He said trio correctly!
Please do a video with rank10ygorata
When you talked about royal knight of the ice barrier he could have unleashed his mighty fury ^^
The most “optimal” way to use insect Queen is to attack with the monster then attack with insect Queen
The optimal way to use insect queen is to not use it
Put it in unsleeved in the deck position.
Top 10 good boss monsters that aged badly! Towers and Ophion being some examples
You can use star siphon and accel synchro to synchro summon level 8 or higher synchro monster such as White aura bihamut
And here I would put Volcanic Mine....IF ONLY KONAMI DECIDED TO RELEASE THE CARD OUTSIDE OF THE ANIME.........
Just kidding, the card would probably be abused in some sort of Trickstar Ftk.
Day 228 of waiting for new Volcanic support to arrive
Your really committed to this joke, are you?
It's not a joke really, anime cards only get released once a year in that anime card set, also creates 5 new archetypes for every 1 old one they decide to give support to
Honestly, Volcanic Mine is just fine, if not a bit decent. Destroys the Tokens at the End Phase so there's no risk of the opponent using them as Link material if you use it on your turn, and it has an effect-negate on top of that. It's a bit slow for the modern game, but it would have definitely seen play back in the time it was released as a kind of alternate Ojama Trio.
It kinda bugs me that the #1 spot's comments didn't include how it's a normal spell. In practice, you're ditching EVERY playmaker in your hand to bring out a high level monster, but *you may have just ditched him for that effect*
The hand-ditch effect puts your entire match into a gamble. If it was a quick-play, it would be marginally better, but still atrocious. If you could banish it from the GY to search Raviel, it'd be... okay, but still not great.
Honestly, I suspect it's because any given Link 3 would be a much better choice than Raviel.
Chewbone can also be used with Reverse Reuse so that you can get the 3 tokens.
Doesn't change his placement on the list, but I like gimmicky Reverse Reuse combos
Insect Queen would be an insanely good monster... if it could only attack multiple times per turn
Jam Token beatdown looks hilariously fun to play, imo. Just watch the Manly Adventures of Mokey Mokey - he comes up against it in one episode, and it's something else to see 1-3 huge tokens (2700 - 3700 atk or so) spawning on the field every single turn.
I more or less dropped the game when Links came out, so I'm sure there's cards that obliterate spells and traps through summon spam and such, but it's still really cool to see it go off.
The entire time you were talking about Bamboo Scrap I was waiting for the "But in Duel Links"
Coolest part of Phantasmal Martyrs is the Ultimate Rare artwork. Looks pretty neat.
What about Revival Gift? All it does is allow you special summon a Tuner from your graveyard with it's effects negated, while also summoning two fiend type tokens with 1500 attack and defense on the opponents side of the field.
Also, any suggestion for a good YuGiOh game that is available these days? I haven't really played seriously since the GX era and only lightly dabbled in the 5D's era. Kinda had no people to play against. And I am kinda lost when it comes to the card game these days.
Technically, you could use Chewbone with Reverse Reuse to give yourself the Tokens.
Should of ask for permission to use Rata's Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier rant to fill in the #9 spot. :P
Also as a suggestion for a video topic: Top/Bottom 10 specific Attribute support cards.
I actually used to run a deck with Jam Breeding machine, token stampede, wetlands, and gravity bind. It could be pretty hard to set up, but having 5 tokens with 4700 attack that constantly come back during your standby is hilarious.
If i had to create vertical landing, it would be more like "tribute monsters, get tokens, equip the tokens with the card that was tributed to summon it, if the token would leave the field, special summon the equipped monster" that way, you are temporally turning them into tokens to fulfill its arquetype without losing monsters, with a restriction for tributing those cards for any non-mecha phantom effect
9:10 you can also use your oppent wind monsters
You can also use Star Siphon with a Synchro Tuner to easily synchro climb a level. If it was a quick play it'd be a completely different case.
You can't even use Phantasmal Martyrs as intended since it requires you to send your whole hand to the grave. You better have a Dark Summoning Beast in hand or grave if you plan to use this card :P
10 non banded cards that was impossible to summon/active(if spell or trap card) (because summons only from banned effect or similar reasons)
I don't think there are that man in the history of the game: sanwitch, guardian elma, primal seed, dedication through light and darkness and neo bubbleman come to mind
I remember the bamboo card fondly for 2 reasons. I played Ultimate Tyranno back then and I didn't have any better way to get low attack monsters on the opponent's field.
He says "tree-oh" now :D
its interesting hearing which cards are perceived as the worst because of the difference in play between the anime and the way YGO is played irl. a lot of these cards being placed here for being "too slow" or "requiring too much setup" makes me think of how they're used in the anime. and typically because there is a story element, the duels tend to run a little longer than what we would like irl. so these "slow" cards have so much merit in those cases. especially when one considers how they fill in their users' archetypes etc.
It always bugs me when Konami makes a card that was good in the anime,
worse in the TCG. A good example being Revival Jam, since in the anime, it comes back to the field after being destroyed by battle,
where as in the TCG, you have to pay 1000 life points to bring it back.
A nice gimmick strat with Jam Breeding Machine to make it at least somewhat viable for the lolz is to summon Alector first, then activate JBM. If Alector is still on your side of the field when it's your turn again, negate JBM's effect and that way you get the token AND can summon using it since the token part of the effect is during Standby and Alector can be used at start of MP1. If you find a way to keep Alector alive throughout the battle with support for it, you basically get an infinite supply of tokens! Also, Alector can special summon itself very easily and if need be you forego a turn of negating JBM and instead negate an opponent's effect to disrupt them.
I remember using that slime token deck at one point. Not exactly consistent but a lot of fun.
Seeing the metamophosed insect queen makes me wonder
Could you make list of retrained, reprints or the new version of the cards like that ?
Wow. I never noticed that fragrance storm can be used on oponents monsters
My locals had a tournament where we all got packs of the first speed duel set and we had to make a deck out of them the best combo was limit impulse with buster blader
I've used Bamboo Scrap before! You just gotta summon yourself a Rose Tentacles and equip it with Thorn of Malice. You might even use that plant you got rid of to help get Rose Tentacles out, like by activating Mark of the Rose or special summoning tribute fodder from your hand with Rose Lover. With Thorn of Malice equipped to your Rose Tentacles it will be able to attack 2 additional times, dealing 2300, then 2800, then 2800 piercing damage over the same token. That's 7900 damage! It's so frustratingly close to an OTK, but you can probably manage an extra 100 damage somewhere in there.
You should consider running sparks, lol.
Idk if Phantasmal Martyrs needs an update for problem solving card text; but, as it is now the discard your entire hand is part of the effect, so you’d still have to discard that for Diamond Dude’s effect.
On the bright side, if you emptied your hand, it would only be 1 since It no longer has the hand count restriction.
Hmm, I think "Top 10 best Flip monsters" or "Top 10 Worse LP gaining cards that are totally not worth it" would be good choices for future videos.

Jam breeding machine...*horrible flashbacks of Marik’s token deck in Millennium duels*
With Phantasmal you can discard your entire hand but if you have continous traps and you control uria you can raise its atk
I think a cool series would be top 10 x type series. For example, top 10 machine monsters, or top ten warrior monsters, including banned cards.
I've always liked limit impulse. I've used it in synchro decks like stardust to allow me to send cards like quillbolt, or a synchron monster then summon synchron explorer to then get a tuner from the grave, and now I have 3 stars I can use for a synchro summon
Here's a potentially interesting Top 10 idea -- Top 10 Smallest Archetypes. If you use the usual definition of archetype (at least one card must mention it as a group name), there's still some pretty tiny archetypes out there. Considering the existence of archetypes such as Zubaba (5 cards if you count the latest OCG reveal, and they get even smaller than that), I admit to being curious if Penguin (10 cards) would even make the list.
The #1 does have a slight bonus to it. It was ruled to activate WHEN you have 2 or more, meaning that it can technically be one of the two cards in your hand, meaning you only go -2 instead of -3. It's still pretty useless tho, but at least it has that going for it
Love the touch with slifer on Jam breeding machine.
Top ten link monsters given to old Archetypes. Like Invoker of Madness or Gem Knight Ghost Quartz.
Needle fiber?
Yep. Mostly old extra deck based Archetypes like Cystron or Burning Abyss. Mostly stuff from the Link Vrains pack.
Gladiator beast would be number 1 for the worst one
@@CrnaStrela Actually the worst one would be forcing Evilswarms to have a Steelswarm link Monster, and the fact that one of the 2 arrows on it points to your opponent! Evilswarms need to have their own link monster with arrows similar to T.G. Trident Launcher, which I believe is one of the best link monsters given to an old Archetype. GB Dragases isn't half bad if you can get Tamer Editor out on the field, then use his effect to SS either Heralinkos or Gyzarus to the other arrow.

I knew JBM would be on here but I'm honestly surprised you didn't mention it's slow speed as a point against it. You activate it and then you have to hope it survives your opponent's turn
In Yu gi oh Duel Generation game Marik uses jam breeding machine in combo with some field spell that gives water level 2 or lower monsters 1200 atk and bunch of other equip spell cards.
I thought I was going to see block man in the list as one of the worst token generators but I do have fond memories of that card it was one of my first Secret rare cards
If you play Vertical Landing in a WIND deck, you can tribute one of your WIND monsters to summon a token and then you can use Do A Barrel Roll as an omni negate by tributing the token.
I also feel like it sort of glosses over the counterpart spell, Scramble Scramble, which let's you tribute tokens to special monsters from the deck. It's not fast, clean or easy, but mecha phantom beasts aren't that great anyway ;-; (especially since being generic means our boss link is illegal or limited most of the time)
@@madtheorist1856 It could probably be brought back if they added the clause that you cannot use the tokens it summons for extra deck monsters. Then you have to use them in Mecha Phantom Beast.
phantasm martys can be activated while counting itself as part of your hand (phantasm martys +1 other card, like into the void +2 other cards), so technically it's a -2 in it's best case scenario, not a -3.
I now realize Insect Queen is basically Panther Warrior with extra steps
