That's so awesome Kaylee! Good for you! And congratulations on both of yalls sobriety!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 that's a long time, you should be very proud! God bless ❤❤❤❤
I pray that is true. I really do. Drugs and alcohol are destroying my family member, my dear family member. We've tried everything within our power to get him help. We've begged, pleaded, prayed, cried, tried a large scale company intervention and nothing has helped. We're just waiting for him to either die or go to jail. Frankly, we'd prefer jail at this point. He WILL not seek treatment. He's surrounded himself with really scary and abusive addicts and is basically being brainwashed into believing that we are the monsters for trying to get him assistance. We just sit and wait and pray and cry every day.
It is crazy… that not drinking is considered not normal. This is going to be day one for me. Wish me luck. I used to love drinking. But whilst I had my best times drinking. I also had my worst. I now have liver disease. Hoping it’s not to bad.
10 years sober and ppl think that I think I'm too good to hang w them even though my whole life changed. I pray they will come out of the darkness like I have. But it took me a long time...takes some ppl longer. Good stuff LD. Love you brother! I still try to help ppl see the light. The mind is so different and you don't even realize it while your on the booze. I never knew until I quit.

We can write down a list of all that sobriety has given us and all of the nightmares that we are no longer living because of sobriety...and THAT is what we can share in our discussions with whoever wants or needs to hear it. So many of us have lived through such similar, nightmarish experiences. Whoever needs this conversation has probably experienced very similar things themselves. Thank you for all that you do! Love to you, the fam, and this whole wonderful community. ❤😊❤😊❤
Hey Amanda! Love to you and your family too! You are absolutely right too.... writing down what we are grateful for, just makes it so much more concrete. I have found that using a pen and paper really does make some kind of a hand/brain connection and really helps to solidify what we are thinking. We are getting some serious snow today. I was just telling David, I don't know how yall deal with the snow all winter! I hope you and your family are doing well! Sooo good to see you!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤God bless😊😊❤
@liverdisease-qb6rk I couldn't agree more, my friend!! I have listed all that I'm grateful for with pen and paper many times now, especially when I'm feeling overwhelmed and it really helps to reinforce why I'm doing everything that I'm doing for both myself, and the ones that I love. If I ever get the opportunity to be there for that conversation with someone else, then I'll be glad to have some notes to refer to. Maybe I'd even just let them read it and then talk to them about it. I love the snow when we first get it! Then I hate dealing with the roads in the aftermath. Haha I'm actually getting up early tomorrow morning because it's a tradition for me to build a snowcat fir my neighbors on our front stoop after our first snowfall every year. I've got to keep up with tradition!! Haha it's always great to see you, LD. Have a great night! I'm getting home late, but I'll catch up with tonight's video tomorrow!! ❤️❤️😊❤️❤️
It’s negative 15 degrees here today in Minnesota!! Soo cold. I am not an alcoholic and probably only drink a few drinks a month but I love your videos. Great life lessons for all people. It’s crazy how alcohol is so glorified in society despite all the damage (short and long term) it can do, and has done for quite some time! Alcohol is the only drug where if you turn it down when it’s offered to you, people look at you like you’re the one with the problem! I have to admit, navigating social situations as an adult can be a major challenge for those of us who wish to remain sober! The good news is you don’t need alcohol or any other drug to have fun, relax, or deal with life! Also, you don’t owe anyone an explanation for your decision to stay sober, but you do owe it to yourself to live your best life so that you can be there for your loved ones! If it really bothers someone that much that you no longer wish to consume a poison which serves you no purpose anymore, then maybe that person doesn’t really have your best interests in mind! It sucks, but I have had to let go of some relationships when I got sober! Otherwise, my life would have taken a much darker turn, and I might not be here anymore! Glad to see that you’re doing better, LD! God bless!! 🙏❤️
Thank you David! And you really bring up some great points here! Especially how damaging it is.... but the most widely accepted drug in the world probably. Hope you are doing well brother! We are getting your kind of weather here today.... idk how yall do it!!!! 😊😊😊 God bless❤❤❤❤
@ Absolutely, and I don't think that's something that will change anytime soon! I'm doing well, my friend! As for the weather, I've lived in Central NY for about 30 years now, so the snow/cold is pretty much a way of life. I've gotten used to it, lol! 😁
Hey G great topic! I also use to envy people that didn't have to drink to have so called " fun ". Now I envy them because they don't have to go through the mental and emotional turmoil of trying to stay sober. They are heroes. I especially envy the people who can sit in the bar and sip on one drink for an hour! You hit home with this one. ! Take care of yourself and your family. Love ya❤❤❤

Great to be aware of the importance of sobriety to your future! I don’t know if any other locations would be more “sober-friendly.” You might try to research that. Of course, I think there’s a lot of pressure for young men to drink in general, so maybe time will help ease that pressure. Good luck!!

Honestly, listening to you speak about what you’re going through and how you are working through your feelings everyday resonates with me more than anything. You have a real gift and I’m glad you chose to share it with us all here. I had to add that I lost almost 50 lbs in 6 months when I first got sober- that shows much I was drinking. I certainly was not able to eat much- my gi system was not happy!

Great video, and a significant message here. Most people drink and most can't stop easily or at all. To the point of weight, I actually think this fully depends on the person, but I gained weight because I started eating more and going to the gym. When I drank, I just drank and didn't really eat much and didn't lift weights or anything. I think many would likely gain weight after stopping, but it depends. Another EXCELLENT vid man. Keep moving forward.
@@NicksHEAT1995 I took gained weight after I stopped drinking. The boredom of not drinking has me eating more. Trying to eat healthier now for the summer. You are so right. It just depends on the person. Thanks for sharing ☺️
I admire that you're willing to tell the truth even when it involves saying that alcohol does have some positives, such as serving as a social lubricant or helping to calm nerves before public speaking. It lends weight to everything you say to know that you will approach everything honestly and not paint things in stark black and white. The same when you talk about the other side of the coin-sobriety. You don't talk about it as if it's all sunshine and lollipops. Your devotion to honesty is one of the many things that makes this channel so special. We know, of course, where you stand overall about alcohol and sobriety. So we know you are not encouraging people to drink by discussing these "grey areas." Rather, we know you will always "tell it like it is" and that's a great thing to know. I hope you and your family are recovering from your respective medical problems. I also hope the storm doesn't wreak too much havoc. Best wishes! 😊🙏❤😊🙏❤
Hi L.D. you look great . I hope your children will be fine, soon. I remember my sick-days , that I had as a child very well, for some reason. I guess, I liked the undivided attention my parents haf for me, then. It was nice, to be able to have the TV running, early morning, with a blanket on the sofa, momma by my side. My parents are long gone, but right know, I feel their love , because of those memories. Memories you have in the making, for your (own) kids. That is god. What you do for the community. That is good. I truly believe, that god has some bigger plans for you in stock. It is not about drinking anymore. That is good. The best. I am happy to be free now. You are absolutely right, I looked up, to the people , that where clean and sober. But in a weird way, I felt a little intimidated. Spooked in their presence. Why? I guess, because these individuals mirrored ( is that a word?) , that is is possible to be happy and sober. Things, I could not accomplish for soooo long. Thank you for always making me question my reality, my world. You do that with a passion. Good.
Glutitis! Hello! Soo good to see you! Yes, my mother took good care of me as a child when I was sick too. My mother always made potato soup for me. I remember it vividly and have already recreated the soup again and cook it for my wife and children. I was the same way and couldn't think of the word, thank you! You said it perfectly, intimidated. I couldn't do what they were doing and it intimidated me. You are so welcome my friend and thank you for always being so kind! God bless ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You look and sound much better today LD, thank you for sharing this excellent update with us. Hang in there bro and you're going to get stronger every day 💪 ❤
Hey man, thank you for the videos. I quit drinking today. I made a plan for it 3 days ago and I'm serious as a heart attack. (You have to be or it will keep you in it's grasp). It took necessity to force me to make this decision. The addiction is strong. I remember when it was easy for me to turn it down. It wasn't because i was strong. It was that i wasn't an addict at that time. It just wasn't appealing. On another note, i started to just think of it as a memory erase drug. The thing about that is that if "time" is the most valuable thing and your perception of time is designed by your memories then you're really just losing your most valuable asset even when you wake up okay and not missing your wallet and glasses.
That's so awesome zachary! I believe you my friend! I really do. Keep me updated on how things are going. You have got this. Just keep reminding yourself why you are doing this when you get the urge. God bless❤❤❤❤
I absolutely agree with you 100%. I always gave major props to those people who never picked up a drink or smoked a cigarette, etc. Bad habits. It was sort of foreign to me because it was happening all around and they were in the minority for sure. I admire that!
Also, if someone asks why I am not drinking, it’s easy for me to answer. I just say that it makes me feel like crap. It gives me heartburn and I don’t enjoy the after effects. Simply the truth. End of story!
I was talking to my husband (We are both late 30s) ….about how scared I was for my child to become of age when kids start to become exposed to substances. With all of the fentanyl out there …. kids can’t just experiment now…. My husband then said he thinks the cool thing now is to be “straight edge”… I sure hope so…
Shannon.... I share the same exact fear that you do. I am absolutely terrified for my children. It's not like it used to be. There is no more experimentation anymore. I hope the same.... I really do. Thank you! God bless❤❤❤
I cut back to a half glass of wine at night from 1 1/2 to 2 glasses at night learning from your experience . Thank you and I wish you a long life and happy future .
I'm a non-drinker, so I cannot understand why anyone gives a good crap about that I do, in terms of drinking. I have a lot of health issues and I absolutely cannot drink at all. I drank maybe a glass of wine twice a year. I made my youngest son a promise that I would never drink again until the day I die. It's easy to make that commitment, even at the holidays when everyone around me was drinking, I made that promise to him and I'm keeping it because he is struggling badly with addiction. I 100% understand addiction as I am addicted to sugar and I get incredibly sick when I eat sugar, incredibly sick. That is the hardest thing for me to kick. It's truly like heroin for me. So i get it when I say I know that it runs your life, if you let it. And it will run your life into the ground. That elevator only goes one way and it's down.
Wife and I been married for 30 years have kids, we never drank, not even a beer, we just take it for granted. Our question was always, WHY? We don't need booze to have a good time, and we're perfectly happy in our own skin. If others don't like us because we don't drink, their loss, not ours. I enjoy listening to you, I don't know why, as I said I don't even drink. But good for you for stopping and being honest, it sounds brutal being an alcoholic. Your channel will grow, keep up the good work. BTW, can you do a talk on the bar scene? What's the appeal??? We never quite understood why some people like going to a dark, smelly drinking hole. Do people really need to drink just to talk to others, maybe it's easier but we've always found they sound like idiots.
Hi LD - although drinking alcohol casuses one's blood vessels near the skin to dilate & therefore gives a person surperficial heat & red face the same alcohol is actually diverting blood flow away from the vital organs - internally you r at risk hypothermia; when I did an ambulance service course we were told that a drunk found in the park in the morning probably hadn't fallen & banged his head but had slumped maybe on a bench & hence frozen to death; in fact the Saint Bernand dogs which used to carry brandy to injured people in the snow were doing more harm than good. All the best to you ur wife & kiddos
😂😂😂 your sound effects of your trash can rolling down the driveway full of bottles! Some things are too funny just so sorry for all of your turmoil from it. ❤
I wish you would look into RSO. Cannabis oil might help with your liver. We were treating a woman for cancer and she got taken off the liver donor list because she no longer had lesions on hers. I know it's hard to believe, but I swear it is true.
Every Wednesday morning when I was a drinker is when the garbage truck would come and pick up my garbage and I would hear clink clink clink every Wednesday morning at 6:00 on the dot
I have a question for you, LD. When I drive in town (somewhere in Va), I often see people begging for money. I want to help, and I'm often told by others that I contribute to the problem. What's your opinion? Am I giving them cash that contributed to their drinking or am I giving them a chance to make their life better?
If you help, do it in a way that isn’t giving cash. I do believe that giving cash is contributing to their addiction. Just my opinion. Maybe LD thinks differently. It’s sweet of you to want to help!
I understand your predicament. Honestly, I always give them money if I have it. What they decide to do with it is their decision. I can't police what people do, and or discriminate based on a 2 second glance at someone. They are in need and I will help regardless. If u are concerned about it though.... maybe give out clean socks, food, blankets, coats, etc. This could eliminate the question. I hope this helps! God bless ❤❤❤❤
Everything in life must be done responsibly and with self control. Especially things like alcohol. Kinda seems you have this thought that everyone that drinks is a raging alcoholic. Millions and millions of people drink responsibly. I absolutely love the hand full of times I drink a year (holidays)And enjoy the hangover day the next day. Getting to do absolutely nothing all day is great once in awhile. Then wait till next holiday. And yes I was once a daily drinker. That said anyone with an extremely heavy drinking problem should seek help. I had to once
I don’t get the feeling LD thinks everyone who drinks is a raging alcoholic. Rather: Anyone who is a raging alcoholic should ideally quit drinking since a raging alcoholic, by definition, cannot control his/her drinking. These are two different things.
@@kathrynminnick8986that’s how it was in the early videos. Now kinda seems like prohibition. And to say things like drinking just isn’t any fun is just absurd. It may get to a point for some where it isn’t fun. But come on…. For real. There’s a difference in sharing self experiences and bad opinions
There is a local guy drank possibly larger every day of his life and is 80 years old and still gets up every day and goes to work, my brother in law says they should copy his genetics

I had to add that I lost almost 50 lbs in 6 months when I first got sober- that shows much I was drinking. I certainly was not able to eat much- my gi system was not happy!
Thank you leo leo! I'm so happy that by sharing how I feel can help you! It can be tough sometimes, It's so motivating to know that I really am helping someone! Thank you! God bless ❤❤❤❤❤

Hey Thelma! Thank you so much! That's so cool you watch all the way in south Africa! So cool! God bless from south carolina usa!
I’ve never drank, used substances or smoked. My family is full of alcoholics, substance abusers and smokers. Thank God I escaped all that.
I'm so glad you did too lois! I'm sorry to hear that. God bless❤❤❤
My brother's never drank. I didn't understand why I started and had such a problem
Since I quit drinking I feel like a recluse sometimes, I used to look at peaple differently that didn't drink. Now I am the differant one
Better to be different and alive. Some of us just can’t moderate.

Thank you nicksheat and you have a good point. It does really depend on the person. God bless ❤😊
Thank you so much Kathryn! We definitely are getting a good bit of snow. It's been snowing since 2 or so. God bless❤❤❤❤❤
Hi L.D. you look great .
Hoping for good health coming your way❤
Thank you so much joan!!!! Sending you ❤. God bless❤❤❤
You look and sound much better today LD, thank you for sharing this excellent update with us. Hang in there bro and you're going to get stronger every day 💪 ❤
Thank you so much honestmicky! I'm feeling better too! I hope you have been doing well my friend! God bless❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it laura! I have felt the same way. And you can't miss what you don't know. God bless❤❤❤
You speak the truth!
Thank you mmoose!!!❤❤❤❤❤
A lot of my favorite skaters are sober!!! They all say the same thing, “It’s best decision I’ve ever done”!!!
That's so awesome!!!! The skate community has done a great job promoting sobriety to younger people. ❤😊
Well said! ❤
Thank you ankejacobs!!!!! God bless❤❤❤
I cut back to a half glass of wine at night from 1 1/2 to 2 glasses at night learning from your experience . Thank you and I wish you a long life and happy future .
That's so awesome sandraard! You are doing great! Keep it up! God bless ❤❤❤❤
@liverdisease-qb6rk thank you so much , I can't tell you how very much we appreciate what you are doing by encourage others by telling us your story !
You don’t even know how much you just helped me today- thank you.
That's so cool! I love when I hear that, like the universe was what did it. Hope you well in what ever it is! God bless ❤❤❤❤
LD, love and care still on my mind for you and family. Be safe and heal. We all appreciate you sharing your journey. It has helped many!
Thank you so much karen and ❤❤❤❤❤ back to you! God bless😊❤
Tremendous speech.
Thank you so much chatterbox!!!! God bless❤❤❤❤
We need snow here in Maine desperately.
San Antonio here is getting it too
Hi, I’m in San Antonio also.
@Laura-hk4th cool. I move here from Illinois 4 years ago
@@kathyharris2456
I’m a native of 60 years. It’s a drinking city no doubt, but really every where is actually. Take Care!
@Laura-hk4th I was not a drinker. I got Cirrhosis from fatty liver Disease.
Great topic!!
🙏❤️🙏

Thank you susan!!!❤❤❤❤

😂😂😂 your sound effects of your trash can rolling down the driveway full of bottles! Some things are too funny just so sorry for all of your turmoil from it. ❤
Hahahaha!!!!! Thank you rita! Glad I could make you laugh! It's so true though! God bless ❤❤❤❤
I wish you would look into RSO. Cannabis oil might help with your liver. We were treating a woman for cancer and she got taken off the liver donor list because she no longer had lesions on hers. I know it's hard to believe, but I swear it is true.
I look up to you

Every Wednesday morning when I was a drinker is when the garbage truck would come and pick up my garbage and I would hear clink clink clink every Wednesday morning at 6:00 on the dot
It's crazy, all my neighbors trash cans sounded like that too! And mine. God bless 😊
It's not difficult for them to resist alcohol just like it's not difficult for you to resist smoking if you are a non-smoker.
Good Lord snow in the south yet in Michigan we just have cold temps for two days, and already they cancelled school.
That's crazy! It's snowing here bad too! God bless❤
My Sisters, NEVER EVER drank and no one ever gave them crap. So dont understand these people who get crap for not drinking.

Offer a free ride to a homeless shelter , they have all the resources needed for people who WANT to get their life together.
I gave money to what looked like an old vet but watched him go around the corner where another young junky was waiting. I’ve never given money again.
Alcohol is the devil
I don’t get the feeling LD thinks everyone who drinks is a raging alcoholic. Rather: Anyone who is a raging alcoholic should ideally quit drinking since a raging alcoholic, by definition, cannot control his/her drinking. These are two different things.
@@kathrynminnick8986that’s how it was in the early videos. Now kinda seems like prohibition. And to say things like drinking just isn’t any fun is just absurd. It may get to a point for some where it isn’t fun. But come on…. For real. There’s a difference in sharing self experiences and bad opinions
@@ImkeSinner-wv2mdI’m sorry you’ve had to come to that consensus.
It’s even hard to ask for help. The mind turns
There is a local guy drank possibly larger every day of his life and is 80 years old and still gets up every day and goes to work, my brother in law says they should copy his genetics
Dude you are so right it ain’t registering sorry. I can’t give it up.
I have had a fucking nuff thinking not to drink but it will not go away. Even knowing you.
Your sense ain’t turning my addiction
It is crazy… that not drinking is considered not normal. This is going to be day one for me. Wish me luck.
I used to love drinking. But whilst I had my best times drinking. I also had my worst. I now have liver disease. Hoping it’s not to bad.
Wishing you luck!!! You can do it!!! 👍😊
