Top notch. JT... go boy go! Good to see the old white boots again... and Burke with short locks! Seriously though folks, this is prime Budgie... shows what we're missing these days (no disrespect Mr Lees and Mr Goldie).
I saw them in Swansea in about 2010 I think. Ended up meeting the band after the show as i couldn't get back to uni in Bristol because the Severn tunnel was being repaired and I had no car. Excellent show, what a band! Even if Burke can't tour anymore if he could get Budgie together to do another album that would be amazing!
@SuperMrMalibog This bands first three albums were before Rush's debut in 1974... I seriously get sick and tired of people calling Budgie a rush clone when they predate rush! Jesus Christ, just because Budgie isn't in guitar hero or some shit doesn't mean they are not creadable. I am more then positive that Geddy Lee and the gang were paying close attention to what Budgie was doing....
@celticwitan just gotta say, saw budgie in the 70s with judas preist at bolton tec. wat a night, tony bourge doin "parents" is somat ill never forget. also kk downing throwin his V up in the air, just as the lights went out!! he didn't catch it. hit the stage with a wollop!!!!!!!!!!!!
Budgie is the original 3 piece band with the bassist as the lead singer, Rush was the clone. Budgie was robbed by disco music. Metallica, Iron Maiden Van Halen etc covered Budgie songs... They never covered Rush songs. Get it right. Metallica got started playing Budgie covers.
Burke Shelley was working as a roadie for Metallica when they played one of his songs, live, (crash course ) and he said “I wrote that!” They hadn’t even know he was working for them.
I think you'll find Yes was a far bigger influence on Rush than Budgie. Fucking love Budgie though, by a million miles the best band ever out of Wales.
@SuperMrMalibog "A couple of singles before 1974".... This is completely wrong. Budgie had three legitimate albums out before 1974. The self titled debut, Squawk, and Never Turn Your Back On a Friend. They definatly WERE touring before 1974.
I saw this band twice in the 1980's. Theyt are the fucking business!!! Stand aside all the so-called "rock bands" today; you will never see the like. Enjoy, relish, learn. Today rock bands are all so fucking soft
Why should one call his heavy rock band "Budgie".....? Might it have been to do something with Burke ? Maybe having been bullied relentlessly , and vowed to get famous as "Budgie".....? If so...he surely had the last laugh....
Dave Mustaine of Megadeth Tweeted "Radio played Napoleon bona part 1&2 as my alarm this morning. What a way to wake up!"
Terrific voice from Mr Shelley and what a wonderful song too...Thank you we need more Budgie on You Tube please....
They are my all time fave Rock band. Some of the greatest ROCK songs you'll ever hear !!!!
Top notch. JT... go boy go! Good to see the old white boots again... and Burke with short locks! Seriously though folks, this is prime Budgie... shows what we're missing these days (no disrespect Mr Lees and Mr Goldie).

Wonderful band! Truly great albums

Got any more?
Does Budgie still play? Me and my brother would LOVE to see them.
Sadly they don't tour anymore.. My dad saw them a long time ago and he said that it was legendary
They stopped because of Burke's health issues. I'd take his place so he could actively continue to give us the joy of his music.

@@SvenTviking Not true.
sorry i never bought a budgie album.....my bad..... they fucking rock........
Rush and Budgie are both amazing... can't believe people would argue over them. They are chalk and cheese in terms of musical style.

@SuperMrMalibog How can Budgie be a stripped down version of Rush when they were before them? Rush is clearly a stripped down version of Budgie!
guitar is Bourg Shelley
is there a guitar cover of this song?
who is the guitarist on this??? he's got on boots and is chewing gum...is it tony??
3:04
El Meastro
Are they stile giging

What's that ? Burke moving along with the times? (hairwise)He might as well wear contact lenses. The guitar player stole Lemmy's old boots.Ridiculous.
It's the vocals. Not much else.
@ninjazeppelin Budgie < Thin Lizzy
Budgie is heavier and harder than Rush,I love Rush one of the greatest but each one of can hold there own hands down.
