Back in the days of the Soviet Union, I got a smuggled LP Never Turn Your Back on a Friend. Talking about an epiphany moment here. Don't know if I have heard anything better still. True heroes!
Just heard Burke has passed away. Such a great guy. Always had time for us all after gigs. Underrated so badly. Never got the credit he and the band deserved
Shocked and saddened.... Only found out today..... Saw them several times here in Plymouth UK...the first five albums with Tony Bourge will stand forever..!!!.. Can't believe Burke Shelley has gone from us.... Along with those fabulous years...!!!..... Things were better then.... I can remember when......!!!... Bless you Burke Shelley.. The most unbelievable bass player... Songwriter... Front man.... Had been hoping to see him playing again....... We would have got there...!!!
ALWAYS WAS, IS AND WILL BE!!! MARK MY WORDS FOR IT!!! I KNOW THIS SINCE 1975! DONE! BUDGIE IS LIKE KING CRIMSON OF HARD & HEAVY ROCK! I PUT IT THIS WAY GUYS! THANK YOU MUCH AND BYE NOW! REGARDS, THOMAS
always!!! I listens to any song, any album by Budgie with immense pleasure ...!!!!! the band is so undeservedly underrated and infinetely better than 1000000 of more famous bands ...I m from Russia
To me, they are one of the real rock warriors, been walking down the road of rock for 40 years and man, how they become the big inspiration for the hordes of rock bands to come.
Never heard of Budgie b4 now. They sound like a great band. Probably dint hit it big as never got into fights, bit chickens heads off or dressed up in a red dress with a foxes head on or jumped up and down stabbing a Hammond Organ or playing a guitar with a bow. Like a few of the bands I got into. Being pretentious got many bands attention They got on the old grey whistle test I see on here. But their up there with so many bands from late 60,s and 70,s
Shame Burke’s health ain’t too good at the moment. I remember buying this album on vinyl back in the day and still have it to this day. My fav track off the album. Get well Burke!
Great band. I was very good friends with Andy Hart. What a player. Lost contact with him a few years ago. Seen this line up a few times. Quality raw music. Never to be seen again.
I've grown up from a very young age listining to these. I also love Sabbath and Led Zep. I cannot fathom how or why this band do not stand shoulder to shoulder with those bands as technicaly they are every bit as good. I guess they were just unlucky not to hit the heights of the others. Mind you there have been many many changes to the line up. For me I still remember Steve williams and the legendary Tony Bourge
To be honest, the name hurt em. They already had the fact they were Welshmen and shel's thick assed glasses and higher pitched voice. They just didn't have the look or the name. If that makes any sense to you. Sometimes, as we see here, the music just isn't always enough. Sadly.
Holy cow, what a performance from a legendary band! This video is a rare gem. When is this from? Certainly before 2010 when Burke had to stop singing, but I'm guessing not long before that since the video and audio quality here is so good.
Great version! Could you tell us where and when the video was shot? I've never seen that guitarist on any Budgie albums or videos before. Great band; saw them in London in 2008 just after getting really heavily into them off the back of their Best of Budgie compilation and it was magic.
I have a question for all you rockers out there. Young, and old, I do not care. ---How the fuck did you guys in England do this shit so great? You guys did not grow up on the MS river. You did not die with Leadbelly. You did not get the whip down south. You might have missed all the hard times America went thru during the civil rights movement. I do not think you understand about all these fucked up things that happen in America. So where did you get the magic from our hell? And it is important to me, and maybe others. And most important, why are you guys better at it, when we took all the hell in? Tell the truth. Tell the answer about the MS river, and why white men from thousands of miles away can play down with the best.
John Helme They're an amazingly average talented white band. I do like their almost unique style. Pretty awesome band I like the old school sound of their band. Pretty cool.
R.I.P Burke Shelley. Great singer, songwriter and bass player.
R.I.P Burke....słuchałem cię od 40 lat 🙁
Rest in peace Burke. A pleasure. Good man.
One of the most underrated bands and frontman of all time...Burke Shelley and Budgie...
And a really nice guy. I worked on the Gillan tour in 1982. Budgie were support. Burke liked to go jogging and was always keen to find a nearby park.

It just sounds amazing!!! Burke Shelley sings just as in the 80's. Love this one, a classic heavy rock ballad. Thanks for share.

BURKIE IS FRICKING GREAT BASS PLAYER AND COMPOSITOR, WHY HE WAS NOT RECOGNIZED WITH BUDGIE !!!!

Love the way the song lifts off in to the air at 4 minutes 30 seconds . Stunning
Fantastic
I love their music . Lyrics are wise. It is my childhood. I tried to find myself. But I'm not able to do it still.
Well, Budgie helps.
Lucky to have seen Budgie at the Whiskey, LA, in the 70's :-)
I was the onstage monitor mix for that performance at the Whiskey.
Incredible talents all.

Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guitarists are in the front row, studying every note of the last solo, which explains the lack of headbanging.
A+
BUDGIE SUPER!!!
budgie rules OK!!!
Where was this filmed?superb band who rocked live and in the studio made some great albums.
God speed Burke Shelley
The beginning of this song, reminds me of "The Beatles' - "Yesterday." Richard
+Rich Sheridan fuck off
R .I .P
I have done the cover note for note on my channel monizag. I had included a slow tempo version of all solos.
