      @@ishpatel3821 I haven't unfortunately, all my friends who've applied for engineering and all the engineering applicants I've talked to on discord servers have taken it. If you are in a position to take Further Maths, you should because it will introduce you to stuff you'll be learning in 1st year so it'll make the start a little less painful from what I've heard.

    Hey Sagar, love your videos keep them coming! Applied to ICL, Bristol, Bath, Leeds and Sheffield. Waiting to hear back from Imperial as to whether or not I've been accepted for interview after the admissions test (nightmare fuel so idk if I'll be getting an offer). Only actual offer I've received thus far is Sheffield and Sheffield and ICL both boast lots of choice of modules and also very computational modules for their aero courses which is my kind of thing. Currently tossing up between Bristol and Sheffield as to which one I'll put as firm if I get no offer from ICL. Would you say connections to industry are more important than course structure (UoB isn't necessarily bad but no electives until masters year, same for Bath and Leeds). Does Sheffield have good ties with Airbus. Also when do you have to choose between Aeromechanics and Avionics for the Sheffield course? Just slightly worried as both sound kind of cool and I don't want to necessarily close doors for myself.

    Heyy, how diverse would you say the course was in terms of students? Like how did the amount of girls to boys compare? I’m considering Sheffield for aeronautical engineering and was just wondering. Used to being one of only a few girls in my classes, but is that reflected in uni too?

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 роки тому +6

      There are more guys to girls within the course, I would say the ratio was around for every 15 guys there was 1 girl so it wasn't the best however, I do think it has improved since my cohort. One of my course mates Maisie has a blog about her experience being a women in aerospace so you could get in touch with her via -> 2sistersinstem.com/ She may be able to give you a good idea of what life's like being a girl at uni in aerospace.

    Hi Sagar, I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield. I wanted to ask for your advice about doing masters from other top ranked universities in the UK, like Imperial College London. So would you suggest me to consider doing master's from other uni or just stay at Uni of Sheffield?

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 роки тому +2

      If I didn't do an MEng I would have considered doing a masters at a different uni like Imperial. Though you will have to go through the process of re-applying plus you won't benefit from the discount Sheffield will give you to continue to study for masters there. But going to imperial will open more doors to you. Just a reminder living in London is expensive so if you've got the cash to do it I would.

    hi sagar, Your aerospace related content has been really informative for me thus I really appreciate all the vids. Personally The top universities in the UK for international students have really high fees ranging from 25k+ and there requirements are too high which is expected, I personally did BTEC extended diploma in aeronautical engineering which is accepted as a requirement but most of these universities are asking A levels included with it.. which I don't have since I did the BTEC course. I am thinking to apply to University of west England, Bristol as my first preference for aerospace engineering , Do you have any idea about this university personally ? and in general what would you recommend me to do. Thankyou

    I can tell this is a good video because I studied BSc at University of South Wales and the uni WAS UTTERLY HORRIBLE, never even consider USW for you aerospace degree because is was a scam. The “hangar” was in fact just as showcase room for the HR to say they had practicals but in reality the students were burly allowed to touch the plane. The uni bubble wrapped the. Students constantly and no encouragement what so ever. I did my EASA B1.1 course in a Swedish equivalent to A-Levels and the 3 years I was there we were always encouraged to work on the various plane types they had. The name of that school is Flygteknisk centre in Ljungbyhed, Scania, Swedish.

    Chose the top picks with Bristol, Bath, Sheffield and Southampton besides Camb, Imperial and Glasgow. I chose Birmingham instead as my extra choice since from what I’ve seen it seems better as a uni. You seemed to just justify Glasgow with industry and not the uni itself so idk. I’m not too fussed about being directly around industry during the degree since studying is gonna be the most important thing obviously
    Cambridge general engineering was kinda off putting. I’ve considered it until now but nah considering my passion for aero
    Imperial would seem ideal but 3A*’s is just extreme along with them not caring about section A eng lang gcse but section B instead

      I've just moved to London as a grad and it is very expensive to live here. I cannot imagine being here as a student. I have realised that most people who study in London are either from London or have very wealthy parents to cope with the high living costs. So I'd say only really study in London if you are to go to a top uni like imperial as otherwise, it isn't worth the high living costs. Also if you have to work part-time to be able to pay rent etc it may be too much along side your intense degree.

      Bath, currently, it is ranked as the 2nd best university for aerospace engineering in the UK. Source: www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings/aeronautical-and-aerospace-engineering

    • @SA64R

      I'd say try and figure out how much it will cost to live there, so make a spreadsheet and include prices like rent, transport (e.g bus fares if needed), also you find find cost of groceries online so you can try and quantify how much the cost of living is. In essence be like an engineer, find out the information you can and make an educated decision, on whether or not you can afford it.

      It is a well known and prestigious uni for sure, and has a well established engineering dept, but in terms of specifically for aerospace it isn't on the league table specifically for aerospace. But I'd say that's not too much of an issue as the rest of the uni and eng dept as a whole is suppose to be really good.
