As another college student, it feels so weird watching this. A couple years ago, I'd be watching these types of videos wondering what it would be like. Now, I've already done all that, kind of figured out the college life. But I don't feel any older than I did a few years ago. Sure, I've grown up and matured, I think different thoughts, have different responses to conversations, but at the end of the day my perceived age is just sitting at some nebulous "teen age." It feel absolutely wild being older than some of the youtubers I watch. It is absurd to think back on just how much I've done in the past couple years. Fallen in love, moved states, gone to college, got a new job, quit that job, got a new job, quit that job, gotten a research position, had my heart broken, and now I'm here. It's been a dizzying amount of change and sometimes it feels overwhelming, but I've adapted and learned a lot of the tools I need. I have goals and priorities and I've figured out some things I do and don't want from life. I still have a giant journey in front of me but I'm really trying to just keep changing and adapting so I never throw away a moment, even if that moment is spent doing absolutely nothing--that's important too. A bit of a long comment but I enjoyed your video. It brought me back but it still feels new. Your mom seems lovely, by the way!
@Matthew Harrup "good thing i don't go to college so that my narrow world view cannot be influenced by other people. Instead I choose to live in ignorance, influenced only by my own beliefs and echo chambers"

I’ll say something thought I’m still in high school. Next year is my last year and I am looking forward to living by myself. I think it will be hard but the challenge really inspires me. I wouldn’t live by myself the whole college for 4-5 years. You won’t learn life doing that.
You mentioned that its like an alternate reality and it totally is one. I feel like a completely different person from when college started. When I go back home its like I go back to my teenage self. When I at college Im an adult. Its just about adapting your maturity and personality to the situation at hand.
yes! The dichotomy between my identiy at home and at school is an odd feeling. When I come back home, I feel like I revert to my old self- which isn't always a bad thing? Being young and channeling your inner childhood spirit is important. But, I also want to feel like as an individual, I'm maturing and growing up... It feels like I'm wiping out the progress I made out on my own whenever I return home. I know it's not entirely accurate, but I totally agree with what you're saying !
@@MaxReisinger I felt this a lot even as a 27 year old who moved home during Covid. There's something innate about the parent/child relationship that makes our roles so easy to resume when we're back under the same roof.

(Currently pursuing second BA in Psych before going into grad) We each have a different persona given social circles/institutions One for home One for work One in relationships One by yourself And so on so forth.
A month ago I flew 3 and a half hours across my country to go to university. I'm 17, not even an adult yet, living on my own and its the most surreal experience. On my family's last night with me here I slept in their motel bed with them for the first time since I was a little kid and we cried a lot. We cried all the way until they got in the Uber to go to the airport back home. Since they've left though, I haven't cried because I miss them once. I miss them, but this is what I've always wanted and I feel like I'm finally in my element. Independent and free to do and go as I please, Its fantastic. In my country, moving away for university isn't really a common thing at all, only around 2-3% of high school grads do it, especially for your first year. None of my friends came with me and I didn't know anyone here so it was a completely blank slate. I've already met so many cool people and done so many cool things. I love my course so far, its like living in my high school self's dream. I find myself so often doing things that my dad taught me and saying things that he would say and oh god I'm tearing up now just thinking about it, so much for not crying. I related so much to this video and its so cool to see your experience. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am right now.
Always blown away by your editing and shooting style. So excited to see you on this journey of a lifetime!! Enjoy every moment! Undergrad went by in a blink of an eye for me!
there's something about your videos that is uniquely comforting and almost nostalgic?? it's hard to explain but i'm excited to see the new direction your channel heads :)
This video was actually one of the best sponsor integrations i have ever seen on UA-cam. Like most people I just skip straight through a sponsored segment of a video, but Max you did an excellent job of integrating it into the time line of the story and then speaking a little bit about it at the end. Colin and Samir should analyse this in one of their videos one time. I signed up to notion and already its better than google keep which is what i used to use to take notes on. Thanks Max and good luck in college.
Great video as always, not sure why this didn’t pop up until today…I love how you’re able to make incredibly personal videos, not just showing what you do but how you see the world. I think it’s amazing how you were able to travel around throughout high school and during your gap year, and how you were able to have a lot of positive and negative experiences. One of the things that I’d learned when I first attended Rutgers, was just how lonely I was…I didn’t have my family and friends around me…I was now charting my course through life, I was terrified and confused about what I should do. With freedom comes a lot of difficult decisions. I think you’ll do well though, school is what you make of it and you’ll find new friends, and have even better and more profound experiences that will come to define you. As long as you have faith in the future, you’ll continue to strive to work hard and accomplish more than what you set out for.
when your mom finally left the dorm room i cried, im a junior this year and im going to be a senior really soon. I'm extremely anxious about graduating and actually leaving my parents because i can hardly take care of myself now.
This brings back so many memories of my first time moving into the dorms. One of the best ways I can recommend to make friends is joining clubs. Not only do they allow for you to meet new people outside of your major they almost always allows for leadership opportunities. It's important to remember a huge part of college is the networking aspect. Of course you want to have as much fun as possible along the way.
When the scene of you moving in with your family helping you came on, It felt SO familiar, and it felt like the same exact thing had happened to me not too long ago (Only a semester ago). But it made me realize how far I've already come into my college journey despite just starting, and It feels amazing. I was terrified to move away from my comfort zone at home, that I had all the fears of no friends, feeling out of place, or becoming so anxious. But orientation week proved me completely wrong, and I was able to connect with everyone so well and I made a wonderful small group of friends in that single week. I didn't even experience homesickness. Granted, I didn't have much back at home, most of my friends already moved away halfway through the summer and I never did much. College was a fresh start and It was amazing. This video perfectly sums up my experience so far, and while it hasn't been perfect, and there have been bumps, this has been my favorite year yet.
It's gonna be so fun for you to watch this when you're a senior and i'm so happy you share this with us. I love your content and i really hope i find more people like you because you're just one of those people that genuinely make me think "who wouldn't wanna be friends with them"
You know you've done a good job at creating a video when people have written paragraphs in the comment section.... I enjoyed this video... And wow the edits, well done! I'm inspired by the work keep it up!
I love how you turned a regular dorm room into something really cool. Hanging scissors like that is also genius I don't know why I never thought of it.
My 2nd semester starts tomorrow and I was nervous at first. This banger just came at the right time and yeah, feel a lot better now. The way you integrated the sponsor throughout the video is just jaw-dropping. I love the inspiration I get from your videos. Good luck with uni and hopefully everything goes to plan! ❤
I always had this idea of starting UA-cam channel or just vlog my day, record my thoughts, my feelings, or I can say my memories. And this idea comes to my mind every time I watch a video of yours. Keep going, keep inspiring.
Thank you for sharing Max. I'm going to college in Fall 2023 myself, and I resonate with what you've said about having an idealistic idea of college. I'm looking forward to connecting with new people, at the same time I don't know what to expect. I also look forward to broadening my intellectual horizons and understanding who I am, and how to live my life.
It's so hard for me to put into words about how inspired this made me feel. I'm going into freshman year of Highschool this upcoming school year, and somehow my youtube reccomended knew and reccomended me your 3 year old video, from when you were recording a day in the life of an american highschool. Seeing how far you have come and how much you have done and will continue to do has really helped me "un-tangle" my mind, like you explained when you were talking about your notion sponsor. It's really helped me to see my potential and what I could do in the future. I love doing content creation as well, and I hope to start a vlogging channel when I enter high school, doing the same thing that you did, but in my own way. Thank you, for being so awesome and creating such awesome content. I'm definitely going to come back here at some point.
As a college student this video was amazing. No one really talks about this and we all experience it. I’m at a community college right now and being so close to a university and having friends there it’s rough seeing people going to classes, joining clubs, and experiencing that college life. I guess I wasn’t quite ready for it either. This video was amazing tho.
HOLY F**** THIS WAS THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE EVER WATCHED ON UA-cam. No joke. Best editing, feeling. Maybe its because im 17 and moving out and our whole lives are flashing before our eyes but this was so moving. I am so proud of this channel oh my god its so good
Just wow , i have known your channel for a week now and i am in full exams and i had no motivation for it but when i saw these videos i somehow got motivation i am also using notion now and it helps me so much really thanks man
I’ve came back and rewatched this video many times this school year. As a freshman living on-campus, I’ve felt and experienced the different moods and descriptions Max explained. It’s been a roller coaster.
the montage of all the “college life” media and then the cut to real life move in day hits so hard as a freshman. you’ve seen all these descriptions and representations of college your entire life and you have such hefty expectations of how it’s going to be. it feels so far away, so unattainable, and then it actually happens. you’re there, moving in, then your parents leave and you’re on your own… i’m supposed to be like 12😂 how am I i’m college rn? it’s crazy how fast life moves.
I began college a month ago and boy did it take me back... The same nervous energy, excitement yet this unsure feeling about what the future holds, being a little bit overwhelmed about the semesters, it's a mix of so many emotions... It does get better, you get busy and these thoughts face away only to take residence in a small corner of your mind... I hope you have a wonderful year Max, here's to new beginnings...
I started uni a few weeks ago. These videos are indescribably comforting. It’s surreal to visibly see that people are going through the exact same process I am. You’re also an incredibly talented film maker. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, a brand new college student
Hey Max, I'm moving to Denmark for school in July, and It will be my first time living alone. I am really scared and excited at the same time but this video helped me realize I'm not the only one, so thank you.
At first it'll be tough. You'll be become more grateful towards home. Try to take as much experiences as you can, you'll go really good🦾 I had the same experience for 1year in college and now I am back home. It was really good
I'm so happy for you Max! seeing you growing. up was an exciting thing to do, and I just want to wish you the best for this new season of your life and a lot of love for you. Sending you a big hug. Cheers from Peru!
I just watched this video instead of studying for Chinese or writing my essay. And I think I just fell in love with you and your mom! Loved the commentary and your notion boards!!! I especially loved the introduction and the different videos that were playing at the same time.
I am a junior and I talk about wanting to leave and go to college already but watching this made me realize how scary this actually all is and it’s just beautiful to feel scared but excited thank you for this video!
Hi Max! I've been following your channel since the COVID lockdowns of 2020. I have enjoyed witnessing, and sometimes being quite moved by, the intimate and touching story of personal growth that unfolds through your videos. I am so glad you finally made it to college! Given the anxiety, self-doubt and disappointment you have experienced in this area, I'm very glad that it's finally come together for you! I remember my own college years with warm nostalgic fondness, as some of the happiest, most exciting, transformative and memorable years of my life (I still have nighttime dreams about being back in college now, even though it was more years ago than I care to admit...). It is my sincerest wish that your own experience of college will be as good as mine was. You've earned it and deserve it. Embrace this exciting new chapter in your life with open arms, and make the most of every minute of it; study hard, play hard, make lots of good friends and good memories! And please do share your experiences with your UA-cam friends! Good luck! Steve P.S. Thanks for the recommendation of Notion. I have just signed up! P.P.S. Where is your dorm roommate (Luke?). Did he never show up, or is he just shy? :)
3.5 minutes in and this is already my favorite video of yours so far.... i am LOVING the mashups and throwbacks from the past... all melded in together... If that's an effect I'd love if you wouldn't mind sharing it. GREAT video, Max. AGAIN! [Edit} geeeeesh Max... this is SO good... you have upped your editing game to a new level. BRA-VO! BRAVO!
I just discovered your channel, and I must say, your style of videos are like a more urban version of what Natalie Lynn (different UA-camr) does. It's beautiful, I love these style of videos.
This is the most cinematic yet informational college video I have seen.Thank you! I am trying to decide which college I want to go to. I have been accepted to several, but I am just stuck, unsure of where I truly want to be.
I really liked your video editing this time ! We are far from your first videos, and the evolution is so cool to follow ! Once again keep going ! You're going places !
Cheer up Max, change is sometimes strange, but despite it, the future is also bright, as a college student in my first year, (I haven't entered classes yet) it scares me, But here I am, I go to class with fear but little by little everything improves :D
I discover your channel like a month ago and I'm in love with your videos since then. I love the way you express yourself, the ability of being vulnerable it's not always easy but you talk with an open hearth and is really beautiful! I move to another country and I'm trying to find myself for the first time in my life, and your videos are helping me to open my mind and trying to be happy and opstimistic. I also love the way you edit your videos, as someone who's dream is being a film maker I'm fascinated! Good luck in this new era of yours and keep being the incredible person that you look to be! All my love, V.
Sending you all the best wishes for this new era in your life, Max! Gotta say that your editing skills just get better and better. The intro of this video was extraordinary, I'm speechless!
Good luck, Max! I think the gap year did you good. I also think going to college will be good for you. Just remember to schedule time to study, and try not to get distracted, and you will do good. Thank you so much for posting your videos!
This is crazy to see cause it was literally me at the beginning of last semester and now college just feels like my new normal and going back home feels weird. There are still things that I haven't figured out and I stress about but next semester I will be moving into an apartment making me feel even more like an adult and I still feel like the same person from senior year of high school.
Been watching your channel for a few years i think what compelled me was not just the editing but the way you tell these stories and capture them on camera and …idk I just love watching em so keep up the good work max
Damn this was a good video! You somehow got down the apprehension and excitement of being left to yourself for the first time. I cried my eyes out when my parents left and I remember the first semester being tough for me to learn how to live alone and how to do uni at the same time but just a few months and now I feel like I've actually settled into a routine and my responsibilities don't feel like Everest anymore :)) (uni's still hard tho ://) it helps that I'm not ill anymore haha Freshers flu and other diseases is a rough season
I can feel the emotions of uncertainty watching this video. I moved into college last year as well but it definitely didn't live up to all the hype. Its still so much better than home life though. I'm certain each year is going to get better and better as I meet more amazing people!
LOVE how you tried(or at least it looks like you did) a completely different colorscheme and zoom shots in this short film basically! The editing in the beginnig??! Max, Cameron, you two are geniuses! The storytelling?? Always on another elevated level! Hope you're having a great year so far and not being pushed down by all the stuff going on in your life. Keep it up:D Also, Reisenger mom?(sorry if she has a different last name) One hell of a great woman!! Wish her all the best, she did a great job on raising you!!
I just love how you edit videos. It’s so refreshing and your choice of music is amazing! I love your channel so much and I hope nothing but good things are coming your way. Thank you for being you.
Bro I’m starting next Monday and I’m moving out tomorrow and it’s Saturday, and it’s off campus and unfurnished !! Stressed af but this video brought a lot of peace to my soul, you’re editing is beautiful man almost made me cry, gave this nostalgic feeling. But anyways yh, thanks for this and I’ll keep looking ahead, hope u do same
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 711 subs and > 200 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
This was one of my favorites. First off, a big thank you to Notion for letting me experiment with this video! Second, a big thank you to Cameron Clayton for helping bring this video to life - check out his channel here: www.youtube.com/@CameronClayton - Welcome to a new chapter, a new life, a new home!

I always had this idea of starting UA-cam channel or just vlog my day, record my thoughts, my feelings, or I can say my memories. And this idea comes to my mind every time I watch a video of yours. Keep going, keep inspiring.

Do it
Thank you for sharing Max.
Can we all just appreciate the skill of his editing?
This one hits different max 🤞next chapter is going to be incredible
Michi Amor my friend
This video gave me a lot of peace and hope for when I move into college a few months from now. Thank you
I began college a month ago and boy did it take me back...
For some reason, his videos are sooooo comforting
I’m from Vietnamese and I feel your video conveys a lot of positivity.Thank you so much guys!
The editing style of this vlog made me feel like I'm watching a coming of age movie! Absolutely fantastic ✨👏🏻
Good luck on your next chapter, Max! 🔥
Hey Max, I'm moving to Denmark for school in July, and It will be my first time living alone. I am really scared and excited at the same time but this video helped me realize I'm not the only one, so thank you.
At first it'll be tough. You'll be become more grateful towards home.
Try to take as much experiences as you can, you'll go really good🦾
I had the same experience for 1year in college and now I am back home. It was really good
I'm so happy for you Max! seeing you growing. up was an exciting thing to do, and I just want to wish you the best for this new season of your life and a lot of love for you. Sending you a big hug. Cheers from Peru!
Much love!
This might be my new favorite UA-cam video. It gave me chills, and makes me even more excited to go to college in the Fall.
This video is a masterpiece, both graphic and the way you talked about it
So happy for you and all that is to come. Good luck!
cheers!
Definitely feeling this as I graduate in 2 and a half months
Good luck!
Steve
BRA-VO! BRAVO!
Thank you thank you!! (:
I just discovered your channel, and I must say, your style of videos are like a more urban version of what Natalie Lynn (different UA-camr) does. It's beautiful, I love these style of videos.
This is the most cinematic yet informational college video I have seen.Thank you! I am trying to decide which college I want to go to. I have been accepted to several, but I am just stuck, unsure of where I truly want to be.
Your videography is amazing, keeps me interested, truly the best way to portray and elaborate this pathway decision. MAKE A MOVIE!!!
You got this man!
The Freshman Target shopping with mom. We have all been there 😂
Have a glorious first year of school 😊
I discover your channel like a month ago and I'm in love with your videos since then. I love the way you express yourself, the ability of being vulnerable it's not always easy but you talk with an open hearth and is really beautiful! I move to another country and I'm trying to find myself for the first time in my life, and your videos are helping me to open my mind and trying to be happy and opstimistic. I also love the way you edit your videos, as someone who's dream is being a film maker I'm fascinated! Good luck in this new era of yours and keep being the incredible person that you look to be! All my love, V.
Glad to see a new video. Fantastic as always. Thank you!
Sending you all the best wishes for this new era in your life, Max! Gotta say that your editing skills just get better and better. The intro of this video was extraordinary, I'm speechless!
Big shoutout to Cameron for helping me out with the editing! He helped make this video extra special
You are great bro! An inspiration for my channel ❤
Gosh your mom is so pretty! I hope I’ll look like her as I grow up! Her smile was just so wonderful
Love the cinematic sequences intertwined throughout the video. And those split screen edits 🤌
I can’t get over how amazing this editing is
Absolutely loved the parent-child walking analogy, also the video was so immersive, I completely surrendered to the visuals and audio. Beautiful❤
Oh bro Your channel became famous and became a follower of Lara from Lebanon throughout the Arab countries، I support your channel🇱🇧💟💗😇☺
Your vlogs give me comfort!
Been watching your channel for a few years i think what compelled me was not just the editing but the way you tell these stories and capture them on camera and …idk I just love watching em so keep up the good work max
Thank you !
Loved the video mate ! I am in such an awe of the way the video has been shot and edited and put together, kept me glued till the very end.
Thank you !! Glad you enjoyed it (:
LOVE how you tried(or at least it looks like you did) a completely different colorscheme and zoom shots in this short film basically! The editing in the beginnig??! Max, Cameron, you two are geniuses! The storytelling?? Always on another elevated level! Hope you're having a great year so far and not being pushed down by all the stuff going on in your life. Keep it up:D
Also, Reisenger mom?(sorry if she has a different last name) One hell of a great woman!! Wish her all the best, she did a great job on raising you!!
Max youre videos keep getting better and better every video!!
your videos are always super well edited and tell a compelling story. This one is no different. Very well done.
I just love how you edit videos. It’s so refreshing and your choice of music is amazing! I love your channel so much and I hope nothing but good things are coming your way. Thank you for being you.
It’s gonna be interesting to see you balance college and youtube, good luck bro :)
THIS VID IS SO NICELY EDITED MAN so enjoyable to watch :D
Wishing all the best! As someone who also recently began college this was a great video to watch. Good luck, enjoy school :)
The room inspo sequence was such a vibe. PERIOD.

Stressed af but this video brought a lot of peace to my soul, you’re editing is beautiful man almost made me cry, gave this nostalgic feeling. But anyways yh, thanks for this and I’ll keep looking ahead, hope u do same

The kind off cinematography and music is just Great❤❤❤…best move in vlog ever and Brand integration ❤❤❤😊

I think your video's rhythm, music, and volume are all very comfortable. I really like you. I hope you are getting better and better😘
So happy for you and this journey, Max! Enjoy every moment pal.
Rooting for you!! Fighting max!!
awesome video max! the editing, story, music, everything is just great. enjoy every second of collage life
thank you !
Some brilliant camera work here. Well done!
This was one of my favorites. First off, a big thank you to Notion for letting me experiment with this video! (sign up here, it's free and if enough people sign up, they'll work with me again haha - ntn.so/maxreisinger).
Second, a big thank you to Cameron Clayton for helping bring this video to life - check out his channel here: www.youtube.com/@CameronClayton -
Welcome to a new chapter, a new life, a new home!
Your videos is so bad not like the old one better we need more about vlogging
Ok..Now let me see Cameron's video...!!(American psycho reference)
Just kidding..dude!! This was really one of your best i have ever seen!! College life can really be overwhelming sometimes.. And really waiting for more of your experiences 💗💗
Man what an incredible video thank you for making it(I signed up)
Where is your roommate?
Aye. I can connect with you on tracking all our lives in notion. I'm very thankful with this app on how I manage myself now. Although I stopped college for now and my notion page for that is not getting an update, I did the other part of my short travel list which I liked. I hoped you enjoy your college journey man cause ngl, you get to meet other people in college in a good way, I think it's the sense of belongingness with our views & perspectives, at least for me it's like that. Also, being responsible with yourself.
Bro I just watched the most entertaining ad of all time. The cinematography is way to clean
I love how you post your life journeys you inspired me and many other people keep it up
i love this kinds of video. while i'm in my bedroom studying , i can easily see how life goes on for other people ( in this case it's you lol) and this empowers me a lot. these videos should be considered a psychological therapy tbh. thx from Milan , IT
that sequence from 3:17 to 4:05 was some of the best cinema I've ever seen no kidding.......I'm planning a sort of compilation vlog and I'm def going to do something like this in it. I'd love to know how you did it
Congrats Max!!
Thank you!
Love this! Your videos always trigger such strong emotion and have meaningful lessons! Impressed by the storytelling every time.
I hope you have a great time in college, excited for u!
