Taking my mother in late September and staying in Flagstaff. This video was very informational, especially about taking the buses in Scion and in the canyon. I bought a National Park annual pass earlier this year, wonder if it'll work for everyone in my party (3) or just me.
@@NorthernVikingExplorer I did what I should have done first: visit the NPS website. From the site: A pass is your ticket to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites. Each pass covers entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges as well as standard amenity fees (day use fees) at national forests and grasslands, and at lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A pass covers entrance, standard amenity fees and day use fees for a driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle at per vehicle fee areas (or up to four adults at sites that charge per person). Children age 15 or under are admitted free.
Planning a solo trip September 18-22 by Amtrak, any pointers ? Little weary about the public transportation after the Amtrak stop in Williams, Az. At 1030p and return trip /train at 330/430a

IF you want to enjoy the Grand Canyon, go to the NORTH RIM! When my wife and I planned our trip to the North Rim, we rented a very nice cabin and brought our own food. Things on either side are pricy. We went in the fall(Sept. as I recall) BEAUTIFUL! Fall Colors were gorgious! I felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. It can get cold, so a good jacket is a must. We've been to the South Rim numerous times, taking THE TRAIN from Williams. Staying in Williams(for at least a day is a must Lots of accommodations at every price. Some good resturants too! Get your kicks on Route 66, but save some time for Flagstaff AND SEDONA! Sedona is a must on any trip to the area(Advance Planning is Necessary as it is EXPENSIVE)! We live in Arizona, so it's a bit easier for us. ENJOY THE TRIP!
Thank you for this video! So much useful information and I really needed it because I didn't know where to begin but you just helped map out my day trip. Thank you!
What a great video! Thank you for posting such fabulous content :) I am watching it the day before heading to the Grand Canyon and it has all the information I need.
Enjoy your trip! It's such an amazing place. This is info from a few years ago so I'd love to hear if things have changed when you get back. Thanks for watching 👍
Hey, i appreciate your perspective but I always go and stay a week. 3 days on the south rim and 4 days on the north. I just can’t bring myself to run through that marvelous sight. Been there 5 times and am going for my sixth trip this summer. Thanks for the video!! His stuff.
Taking the bus in. What a great tip. Honestly, it didn't even occur to me. We're planning a trip there in June and this information couldn't be more helpful since we only have a day, maybe a day and a half to work with. Thanks so much.
Your tips are amazing! This is the best, most concise info I’ve seen about the Grand Canyon south rim to date (I’ve been planning for 2 weeks). I will follow all of your suggestions- thanks so much for the info!
I am here in Grand Canyon watching your great video (tips , ) let see how is gonna be !!!! Right now Eating breakfast in this famous “66 diner “ in Williams town 10/09/2021
Great job on the video! I like videos which offer unique information and don't repeat the same "top 10 things to do" stuff that UA-cam keeps pushing in the recommendations. I'm headed to GC South Rim in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately the purple shuttle bus doesn't open until Memorial day weekend so will have to take the car into the park. Planning to buy tickets online and skip the queue at the entrance station.
Your video was EXACTLY what I was looking for to start my planning for a west US trip this summer. We'll be passing through this area on our way from Denver to Yosemite. Wanted to stop and see GC for just one day. Any idea what it'll be like this July (2021) in regard to riding the shuttles? I can't believe it'll be the same as when you were filming there; with Covid restrictions, etc. You can count me as a new subscriber!
Thanks You! From what I've heard, the spring and the fall are best because the crowds are smaller and it's not quite as hot. Or maybe others can comment below on their opinions as well.
This is such a great video, thank you for all the help! How many hours did you spend from the shuttle and back again? Im curious how long our day will be since we only have the 1 day there. Thank you!!
I think most people drive from the Phoenix airport or Las Vegas. But other than that, I don't think there is a major airport nearby. Maybe Flagstaff has a smaller airport as well.
Awesome . Thank you for such an informative video👏 Just would like to know whether we can travel in car to each view point or is it like shuttle bus is the only option ?
Hi there, upon researching how to explore the Grand Canyon I came upon your page! Thanks for the video! Do you know how to get to lipan point to view to sunset using any of the free buses? Thank you
I appreciate the kind words, unfortunately I do not have an answer for you. If anyone else watching knows or has been recently please comment below to help Melissa out.
Yes, The fee did include entrance into the park. I am not sure what the cost is for additional people. If anyone else watching knows, please comment below.

@@NorthernVikingExplorer Ok, so you can park the car at the Imax and purchase tickets there and ride the buses all day and a bus will bring you back to the Imax??
If you go on a shuttle bus, is it 35 dollars each (rather than 35 dollars for the one vehicle if you drive?) I've asked this a couple of places and would love a definitive answer!
This is a fantastic video. I am going to visit Grand Canyon next week and it helped me a lot to do a good planning. However, I have some questions like red bus route has 12 look out points/trails, so if I get off the bus at all points, walk to the look out area and then return and wait for the next bus, then I think it is not manageable in a day. So, the similar problem could happen with the other routes. I need your response to help me with this question.
We got off at most of the stops and you're right, it does take a long time. Some of the stops are quite close to one another so they have similar views. You could always skip the ones that are nearby one another to shorten your day. Hope you have an amazing trip.
@@NorthernVikingExplorer , you are an amzing person who makes amazing videos. Anyway, I learned from this video. Thanks for your help to the Grand Canyon tourists.

Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Is it realistic to plan a 1 day round trip from Las Vegas (by car)? No hikes or major walks, but more or less what you showed in the video. Thanks for your time. (Planning to go in mid July 2022)

What month did you go
This was in March.
If you take the red bus… can you return at anytime you want?
Yes, they were continually doing loops. I don't recall what time they ended for the day though.
Tip # 12
The S.Rim the Canyon is at 7000'
So
it's easy for those who don't live at altitude to quickly overexert themselves

There are many days when weather conditions make the Inner Canyon invisible from the Rims
So
It's really important for a visitor to allocate more than one day to see the Canyon

My favorite view of the Canyon is from Lipan Point
So
If a visitor doesn't take East Rim Drive ( SR 64) out to Desert View they've missed some of the best views on the S.Rim

Electric carts don’t fit on the bus. So? Didn’t bring the wheel chair…
