You're channel is under rated Airborne. I'd keep making outdoor videos if I were you. You're motivation and excitement is conducive to captivating an audience

Hey I appreciate that! Evan actually has forced me back into filming again. We are doing an eight knife “tournament” that we start filming Friday.

Good review. I like my Helle Harding. The blade is impressive. I had a thick piece of leather that I needed to do a prescision cut on. I just used the tip of the knife's blade & with really no force at all, it sliced through the tough hide like butter.
The Harding is surprisingly light too, but this is a good thing especially when you're packing a lot of other gear with you, being weight conscious is important.
Pairing a nice Helle with a hatchet is really the ideal bushcraft set.

Just purchased the newer version of this knife today. The reason I say it's newer is because the specs you gave were different. The length of the blade is 4 1/4 inches, overall length is 9 inches and has brass pins and lanyard hole. I won't be batoning with this knife, my small forest axe will handle that chore, nice to know it can though. This is my first Helle knife but not my last. it's such a gorgeous knife, the craftsmanship is superb. I can't wait to put this knife through it's paces this season. Thanks for the review.

    short fyi:
if you dont like the handle, you can buy the helle blades "solo" and built a grip for your needs. the temagami comes in a carbon and in a stainless version

Good review Josh. It looked like it would excel at just about any bushcraft task you could give it. That shoulder rig was pretty awesome too!

Well done, I enjoyed the review. I have the Temagami, and although I don't use it as a striker, a trick is to use the spine right near the tip where the hard steel is exposed out of the softer laminated steels. It is indeed a good looking knife.

  • @chrisantliff1239
    @chrisantliff1239 7 років тому +2

you can actually strike a Ferro rod quite well if you use the spine of the tip of the blade

I've always thought this looked like a great knife. I've never been able to handle one though and just never dropped the money to try one. Thanks for the review!

Its a very neat knife. Its one that fits into a niche very well, maybe better than most.

Hi there! I like your review a lot and seeing you put the knife through its paces I wanted to ask if it got a LOT of scratches on the sides? I have the same model and noticed it gets quite a few superficial scratches with each use and wondering if this might affect its resistance to corrosion in time.
    Thanks and keep it up!

Hey! Sorry about just seeing this. We took a five year break and just started filming again.
On the surface scratches I have found that it does in deed get scuffed up. However it’s pretty simple to buff out.
      Thank you for the comment!

I hope you're doing good brother, I miss seeing you and your best buds reviews. There is a couple knives you should look up, one is a cheapo the Cold Steel Finn Hawk, its one heck of a carving knife and has replaced my Mora companion. The other is a knife I have my eye on, the Real Steal Bushcraft "Plus", it comes in scandi or flat with a nylon sheet and removable kydex core. The knife is 14C28N like the Mora Garberg, the scandi version looks awesome plus it has removable scales and a hidden lanyard hole in the butt. The knife has had little attention and I dont see why because from one knife fan to another, that thing is wicked cool looking.

Hey I appreciate that! Problem was people did not respond like I had hoped. Met some really nice people but too many haters. All I wanted to do was give a clear demo of what a knife could take, apparently you have to be a screaming snow flake for views. However having said that my kids have asked me to do it again, so it's in the works.

EVERY BUSHCRAFT video EVER: Chop, baton (then wonder why a knife gets ruined and call it garbage). LOL! Bring a small hatchet for Christ's sake! LOL!!!

It isn't about the knife doing a hatchets job when a hatchet is available, knives are by far the most versatile tool you can carry in the Bush and it is important knowledge to understand the full range of tasks it is capable of performing in any circumstance, you might not always have a better tool available.

Hey black pearl, I quite frequently go out to the woods with nothing but a knife. I have around 400 knives today and I have never broken a knife by chopping. I have folded a few edges batoning. I believe being able to functionally handle the knife and own the skills of chopping and batoning are an invaluable tool.
And truthfully I just like using a knife more. I like using the knife to baton medium sized wood down to smaller stuff to feather stick and prep for fires, not a job I’d really want to use an axe for, doable but not enjoyable.
It comes down to what you want to do with it, snd how comfortable you feel with your skill level snd the knifes abilities.

@@Eezyriderr1 hey I hope my comment didn’t appear pretentious or something. I truly only want to give an accurate representation of the confines of the knifes abilities. I obviously, and without hesitation, encroach each individual person to go to the field with the tools that they enjoy and use the most. Whether it’s a challenge to yourself, a class, or a camping trip with family, I hope everyone finds a knife/axe/tool that suits them best.
