    Had one back in the 90s. My son and i used to take it out all the time.
    Countless fish we caught on that thing. Towed it with a cheap harbor freight 4×8 trailer.
    Yours is the amazing, but a simple one is a blast as well. ✌️

    For your net you could take another rod holder and then take and make up a piece of pvc that will fit inside it that you can take out when you need to use the rode holder

    Great videos! I finally got my Sundolphin Sportsman 8 ft legal and got it out for the first time on Labor Day. I had a fairly easy time getting it into the water but like an idiot I chose a steep boat ramp and getting it back out was a pain. I built a dolly. It's basically a small piece of 2x6 with 2 10 inch tires bolted to it from Harbor Freight. It has 2 rings bolted and I ratchet strap it after I pull the first 2 feet off the bed of the truck. I threw away my cheap ratchet straps the next day and invested in some retractable Rhino USA ratchet straps and took it back out today but launched from a flat ramp that hardly any big boats use and WOW what a difference. Still got my feet wet getting it out but if anyone reads this and is about to take a maiden voyage BUY RETRACTABLE RATCHET STRAPS! I still want a couple metal plates like you use on your downrigger. I'll take your advice and check for a local metal workshop. I'm paranoid about putting any holes in the boat. I'm using the rod holders you used last year and my fish finder transducer mount is Scotty but I use the rail mount instead of screwing it to side. Have you noticed any leakage around the seams? I'm wondering if I should caulk around the seams. I do have a MinnKota Endura 40 lb pushed by a LiTime 100ah lithium battery and love it. I bought a rudder attachment because I use it in the back but haven't installed it yet. According to my Garmin I was hitting 2.75 mph against the wind and 3.5 mph with the winds help. Anyways, I look forward to more videos

      I don’t think I have any leakage yet, but I also use a special marine sealant around any holes! I have a link to it in the description

    I enjoy customizing my kayak and I’m thinking F getting one of these boats next. I recommend putting a hook to hold your orange fish hook box or a tray under the seat because under the seat is wasted space. Also, is install straps or a hook so you can hang the yellow titan cold fish bag to the back of the seat. I wouldn’t like anything left in the floor. Lastly, I’d open the factory installed drain plug and install a piece of pvc pipe with nut and bolt to hold the fishing net. That would be perfect ❤😊

    Great vid! Question: how are you getting those screws to hold into the plastic, without a nut on the other side? Is drilling into the plastic with a wood screw enough? thanks! Nice job!

      I may be rewiring everything next spring, I may do a video covering all of it then!

  • @raymondwilcox4997
    @raymondwilcox4997 2 місяці тому

    Good video, as usual, but thought I'd let you know that the wiring running through the boat is only rated for the amperage draw required by up to a 40 pound thrust trolling motor. If you don't want the wires to melt, which will happen before the 50 amp resettable CIRCUIT BREAKER will trip, you should replace the factory wiring with a heavier gauge wire. Do a little research. I'm glad you aren't using a FUSE for the motor. I mainly fish saltwater, so I prefer Newport Vessels trolling motors. They're saltwater compatible, quiet, dependable, have a 2 year warranty, and are less expensive than Minn Kota motors. Tight lines, and keep the good content coming.

      @@raymondwilcox4997 Funny you said that, this year I will be rewiring the boat with better stuff. What gauge wire do you recommend?

    How well do screws hold in the plastic do you recommend any glue or adhesive to fasten or seal the screw holes on the rod holders to the boat.

    • @humbugvideos
      @humbugvideos  10 місяців тому +1

      Yup! I use a sealant to cover the holes to keep it waterproof and strong. Link to the sealant is in the description!

    Please don't stop carrying an anchor whether or not you get spot lock capabilities. You never know when you could lose power to components, or something stops working for whatever reason. Also 25' of anchor line is not nearly enough, unless you don't go in water over about 6'. Anchors aren't designed to be used vertically. Please do a little research on anchoring properly, before you get some inexperienced boater in a dangerous situation. And make sure the anchor line is strong enough to handle waves and wind much stronger than you plan on encountering, and that the anchor is of adequate size to hold your boat, and don't forget your PFF, and other safety equipment. Safety first, THEN fun, otherwise, it's... NO FUN!
