    Hi Miss Paula, I really enjoyed watching you flush your orchids. I won’t be able to flush like that until October when we switch over to RO water 💦. We have terrible water here,so I don’t want to use it on my orchids. Thanks for sharing how you flush. 🤗🌹👏💦

      Hey Miss Shirley 👋 yea day 2 and IM STILL FLUSHING 😳 🤣 I still have to finish tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞 hopefully that is all it takes! Yea if your TDS is high you can't flush with your tap water. That is awful 😖 I would hate having to use my RO water to flush. 🤣 precious RO water! 💖 Hope your doing well dear!

    Hey Paula, you're a flushing queen 👸 and you make me want a bigger green house with a sink! All I can do is flush with the hose on the sprayer.....the water is cold in the winter..and I may miss 1 or 2..but when I finish the heat is on high and they warm up quickly. In the summer it doesn't matter they love the cool water when it's hot....

      Hey Kathleen 👋 yes when my husband put that sink in its been the best move I ever made! I use to carry them back and forth to my kitchen sink (2 rooms away) on a tray. So maybe 3-5 orchids depending on size. Large ones were a single trip all their own! So so thankful for a utility sink in here! 😁

    Oh Paula when you measured your TDS I almost fainted from the immediate JEALOUSY I got 🤣 My water comes out 300+ TDS so I have to run it through an RO system 😭 Those poor filters get unusable after just a couple months!
    I definitely agree with Rick, that sufficient nutrients probably makes the orchids much more resilient to crown rot! But out in nature they also get significantly better air flow, and they’re usually at the correct angle to let water drip out of the crown!

      OH NO! Yea that is horrible bad TDS! Where are you? Mine sometimes goes 110 which still isn't bad bad. I have been told I don't need to use RO water with that low TDS. I bet you spend alot of money in RO filters! And it still don't make it 0 right? Plus waste water! 3 gallons of bad to 1 good?
      Yes Rick is right, and you are too! Nature is just way different than what we give them in our grow space! Air flow, angles and correct nutrients are all how they survive in the wild. But also they do die in the wild too. So it's kind of tit for tat if you know what I mean.

    great vid!! thank you for making it! :) Interesting that tap water is used to flush the pot.. I'll do this monthly!!
    p.s. I ordered the jacks part A & B and got sent the part A but the wrong thing for part b.. so now I gotta wait to feed her 🙄😭 cant wait to do so though I think she needs food, her new leaves are slightly off color so I dont want that to get out of control while it looks mild.

      Hey 👋 no problem 😊 I told ya I'd make it cause I was flushing anyway. Yes I can flush with tap water. If my tap water TDS was 150-200ppm I would have to flush a different way. That is too high reading and your adding to what's already possibly in the pot. Yea don't let them fool ya with the Jack's! Make sure it's the real Peter's brand Jack's name brand! Knock off are not as good, and hard to measure. Good luck! If you need anything I am here.

      @@hillbillyorchids thanks again!! 🤗 & yeah it wasn't a knock off they just sent me a bag of diff Peters nutrients instead of the 15-0-0 so ill have it by the end of the week hopefully! Ill let you know how all this goes 😃

    Paula, Thanks for your great vids. Watching an old Rick L video, he said not to mix Calmag with tap water. Sometimes in the winter that's all I have. Do you know why he said that? Many thanks Joe S.

    • @hillbillyorchids
      @hillbillyorchids  2 роки тому

      Hey Joe 👋 I'd say because of PH and because of TDS of your water would make parameters much higher. It gives a true knowledge of exactly what your plant is getting, nothing extra. Does that make sense?
      Thanks for the nice comments about my channel. I appreciate it

    That is a lot of work. 20-30 orchids, probably not much of a big deal but for how many you have… 😱 I am blessed to say our tap water is below 30 ppm. My rain water is 3-9. And easier when I can just let the water drip down…

    well, now I know why your hands were prunes. Why not just set the pot in the sink and use the sprayer on every pot? You would be less likely to get water in the Phal crowns using the sprayer, no?

    • @hillbillyorchids
      @hillbillyorchids  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Michael 👋 actually I do some but believe it or not when I spray water flies EVERYWHERE! I Even get a shower! My whole front of my shirt is soaked! Soaked as I'm writing this! 🤣🤣 so with it flying EVERYWHERE I am more likely to get water in the crown. As you see a simple slip and I got in there anyway. I took qtip got it out and sat her in front if fan for about an hour. Over kill I'm sure. 🤣

      @@hillbillyorchids can you augment the sprayer tip? I think there is a way to get it to not mist so much. I have a pump sprayer outside that I can spray haphazardly 😂 so very much on brand for me 🌪

    • @hillbillyorchids

      @Orchidelirium Maybe I can plug some of the holes. That might work. But with the Cattleya the pressure is great for some big tall pots. So it's 50/50. 🤣🤣
