Elizabeth Taylor speaks so eloquently and is breathtakingly beautiful. This rare footage is a gift to all Taylor/Todd fans. You’ll never see two people like this again. Thank you
It was an expensive, elaborate failure, which closed almost immediately after it's premiere. It was a musical, with songs by Cole Porter. I watched or listened to parts of a TV or radio abridgement of this stage musical (can't remember which) and was very disappointed at the poor quality of the songs, to say nothing of the operetta style singers.
Liz Taylor said in her autobiography that their arguments, their fights would make their marriage stronger … Debbie Reynolds said in her book that Liz and Mike were arguing, she slapped his face and he slapped hers, and then he grabbed by the hair, pulling her into another room and she was kicking and screaming; Debbie went after them, thinking Liz was in big trouble- and in the other room she found them on the floor laughing and laughing …😊😊
Wonder what motivated creation and broadcast of this show. It smells of PR promotion for something, either a theatrical re-release of Around the World in 80 Days or a prime time TV premiere of the film. It's the kind of superficial documentary where you know the subject is being treated with kid gloves and through rose colored glasses. Curious that Orson Welles would be narrating it, he accused Mike Todd of stealing elements of Wells stage production for the film; Todd produced Wells stage version. I'm pretty sure Todd was the kind of ballsy, self- promoting SOB -- a talented hustler, -- that Kirk Douglas played in the classic film The Bad and the Beautiful.
She was so beautiful. And I love her voice as well as the way she spoke. Here you can clearly hear traces of her English accent.
I've always loved her English accent. It is heard very clearly in my favorite Elizabeth Taylor movie, "National Velvet. "

Whoever found this, thank you!!! ❤
Those Were The Days My Friend !!!!!
Wow! What a love story.
She was just flawlessly beautiful
The love of her life. Period.
What about ... Richard Burton ...😮..???
Mike Todd was an original.
He left her in debt. 😂
@@yvonneplant9434 Funny. She didn't look like a debt kind of girl.
@@yvonneplant9434Died a billionaire, apparently she got over it.
SHE was SO STUNNING ! I love listening to her tell stories. She was a magnet in every way ! A one in a million !
Originally telecast via ABC on September 8, 1968.
Love her.
Welles also did a version of Around the World ten years before Todd, for Broadway.

Todd was another one gone too soon...
Yes! Such a tragedy!
He died as he lived.
I have never seen a more beautiful woman. Elizabeth Taylor is a goddess. Mike was right: the ultimate dream is to grow up and marry Elizabeth Taylor.
When she was married to Todd she was at her prime. Absolutely her prime. 🎉
@@yvonneplant9434 she is so damn fine in any era but I have to say her in the mid to late 1960s?? Devastatingly beautiful. 😍
She was a beautiful child.
Very nice
Everyone at their tumultuous BEST
Elizabeth spoke as though she was reciting a script, or reading it off a teleprompter.
Well actors usually have to memorize scripts. 😂
@@jayniekinser7029So what?
That's how she speaks .... Nothing MORE ..😮
Can you imagine Orson Welles narrating the documentary of your life after your passing?
it was 11 year after Todd died in a plane crash
