oh...so NOW its the big tease?!?!?! After all this stalling with (granted pretty reasonably enjoyable) videos on photography, old land speeders, forests and boards you FINALLY deign to mention the potential return of this channels main character...If its not the one and only Health and Safety Frog you sir...are a dead Man!!!!!
8:20 I agree, scatter terrain should be asymmetrically placed on the board, leaving some areas open and some areas cluttered for tactical cover purposes (usually three or five small scatter pieces in each cluttered area). It’s a fine balance of artistic composition and war-gaming playability.
This is the very first time I have ever seen anything from Warhammer painted. I am blown away by the process and the love that goes into a board like this. That was a great video.
I'm getting back into 40K but am disabled now so having been finding things a bit more challenging than before. I want to enjoy my hobby more and your videos really open things up for people like us. Thanks for sharing 👍
Came to see a sick board, stayed to get absolutely nostalgia blasted by the Deadly Premonition OST and then the Great Ace Attorney OST. that's the good shit brother
Interesting concept using that cheap underfloor matting as I have stacks of it never used and my last table idea - never finished Dave but might give yours a go, except I have Necromancer terrain and around 60 Orks to place behind suitable barricades, ready to do battle.
"right fine F**k off then" 😂 I thought it was only me that swore at his paints!❤️ Love the channel Dave, not into war gaming but love the scenery and painting stuff, transferrable techniques for the railway modelling stuff I do ❤️
I've been in a massive hobby rut for the past three months and nowt I have done has motivated me to pick up the brushes. Until now, thanks for getting the hobby juices flowing.
Hell yeah thats the stuff! Very little in this hobby more satisfying than a great table. I'd love to make something like this one day. Until then I shall live vicariously through your awesome vids!
It's hilarious to me that I was JUST talking about your videos in another person's stream during the week and the conversation goes around to how high your AV production value is and then you drop this vid. Incredible build and that intro was a whole fucking thing. Love it.
@@MSPaints It was the Discourse Miniatures stream. We were just in chat talking about UA-camrs that are ACTUALLY worth watching and you came up as one of the best.
Looking at doing an Armies on Parade board this year. This looks like a great way to do one as a beginner (only done one before as a hodgepodge of expanding foam on an old ceiling tile)
This is awesome! I was thinking about making a skirmish board and building it like a picture frame bottom to hang it on my gaming room wall in between sessions. Just have to think on how to make the bottom of the thing work the way I want.
That's some incredible work, I absolutely love this grimdark hellhole! You should put another dead Jürgen next to one of the muddy pools... because, y'know, casualties. Also, did you make a video about the gothic church ruins (which can be seen from 3:59)?
Board looks great! Really pushes me to finally get going on my D&D board as I keep putting it off and have just gotten to the point where mats are not cutting it and I have somewhere more permanent to game.
Looks so good ! I know it wouldn't look as good but to make things easier for storage would it be possible to build a board like this but in pieces with little magnets to stick it together ?
loved this one! is that little bits of your dreads you are sticking down around the 18:40 mark ;) Thank you so much for the amount of effort you put in on these productions
The presentation and easy tips are fantastic - looks good - but I don't enjoy 'non level' surfaces - I just bought a large pair of detailed vinyl mats. Boom!
Some advice, if the board you're making is only going to be used a few times then go for normal plaster, after a while it chip.. but if you want it to last use Ultracal plaster, it dries super hard and will last longer, use it just the same as normal plaster. I used to make gaming tables and I always used ultracal.
I love how much room there is for different opinions in this hobby...you looked at a bunch of materials and said "let's build a board"...I looked at the same set of materials and immediately said "let's just order a gaming mat"...much love to your way of thinking though.
Subscribed and hit that bell!........ I have a small shop in Ongar Essex, (Shameless plug) and will soon be hosting gaming and painting nights, great to see there is a cheap option for boards, it thought I was going to have to bankrupt myself before I got this off the ground, awesome work 👌👌
I subbed after the recent Tau Titan video where you said it would have no editing ect. But this is brilliant! Loved that little into. Great content mate, love it!
this board is sick. i never thought about doiin kill team stuff on a normal battleground cause it always seems like some elite objective stuff, but this to me is awesome cause its like to me the story is the very last orks and very last kriegsman of the whole war on the planet goin at it for one last charge, OR SCRAP, to see who wins long after the impirium has abandoned the planet and the rest of the orks have fled to lick there wounds
This is amazing 10/10 if your open to a suggestion for another board, an ork junk yard would look great with the mek workshop as the centre piece, could make a good attack and defence type board
A really helpful video. You make a pretty daunting task look just a tad easier. One question tough, how is you a have about 50 insulation tubes lying around I'm serval rooms hut you don't have the space to store a few terrain boards? Anyways a very nice video
Another great video. If you don’t mind me asking, why do you use isopropyl alcohol? The model railway guys put some washing up liquid into the PVA/water mix and do it all in a single hit. Have you found your method more reliable?
Yeah usually, when tilegrout is involved. It's really water resistant. Tried the dish soap and it didn't go so well. I imagine it's fine in a lot of cases i just prefer to bin off the risk.
Subscribed. I like the editing where you overlap the audio that made me think there's someone else talking to you when it appeared you stopped talking. I've a question about your AO drybrushes. I use them myself. I'm a bit hesitant to use them for metallics though. I worry they would ruin the bristles. Any drawbacks that you can see in using them for that purpose?
oh...so NOW its the big tease?!?!?! All your hopes shall be answered, my friend. Brace yourself for Hector’s very own video.

I've always wanted to make a beachhead style board with a sheer cliff and gun emplacement. This was exactly what I needed to motivate me
Omaha
@@shibuishibui3706
That is almost exactly what I indisposed but I want to tech it up so it's like a 40k Omaha.
Terrain Tutor did a huge board like that for WWII. I recommend.
I appreciate your calm tone of voice, not every video needs to have a muppet of a person screaming at you. Great video, will watch more and more.
That is a great looking board, mate
Thanks mate! And thanks for checking in!

Aaaaaaall good. Honestly, these board builds are easier to do for people like us than painting is. Basically making a cake and drybrushing it.
Came to see a sick board, stayed to get absolutely nostalgia blasted by the Deadly Premonition OST and then the Great Ace Attorney OST. that's the good shit brother
Ooooh I know how to throw a nostalgia party!
"Sand can look like gravel on a driveway"
And now I can't unsee that on all my models with sandy bases. Thank you.
I’m sorry. I had it ruined once for me too.
Absolutely knocking it out of the park with the production value!
Holy crap that opening was incredible!
you did it mate, made a fantastic board, and also kept me half-drunk at 03:00 am watching the entire length of the video...great work sir.
Interesting concept using that cheap underfloor matting as I have stacks of it never used and my last table idea - never finished Dave but might give yours a go, except I have Necromancer terrain and around 60 Orks to place behind suitable barricades, ready to do battle.
60 orks sounds cool.
2:35 nice caulk
Thank you for the kind words about my caulk. I get self conscious.
That is some genius mic placement at @17:15 . Another belter video as always Dave
It just sounds best there hahaha
Really awesome looking video, I've been thinking about making terrain boards for D&D, and this is a really good way to go about it

Man, that opening puts what I'm working on to shame. Nice compositing and vfx. Nice board as well.
That's cool. Never thought about just making a board.
the edited segment at the beginning is literally perfect (or would be) for a battle report

This is a GREAT video on boards and a huge guide on my approach to a build I'm doing myself, love the tips and tricks thank you

This is my usual go to method, barring the plastic. Doesn’t cost much as it’s massively low stress. Good luck!

First time watching your channel. I like the no nonsense approach, nothing sensational like it's the best thing since sliced bread ! Just subscribed.
Thank you! I don’t have the energy for being sensational, haha
that red light from the side looked fantastic!
Momma always said if you’re unsure it’ll hold up on camera, blast a coloured light in there.
Wicked intro!! Which matches the rest of the episode!
