- This 4th installment of the Esprit S4 Resurrection project sees Bear, Will and Josh at True Performance Body Shop in Dublin Ohio put their skills to work and bring the tired body work back into shape. These cars are so rare I really believe they are worth saving. Be sure to check out other videos in this series as well as other Lotus Esprit Content on this channel.
It really is incredible seeing this thing transform from what it was after a decade of dying in Florida sun to what it eventually will be. There's a LOT of work ahead of us to bring all these pieces back together again but man once it's done... whew once it's done. Also, can totally confirm there's a very Zen/Yoga type feeling watching paint work being done! I was quite relaxed filming in there!
The Lotus will reward you for doing this. I live in England, Lotus are much respected.
Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. Sadly , or maybe fortunately, the US has been dim witted and slow to realize the glory and provenance of the Lotus Brand. All those racing victories, the innovative and passionate founder, all of it. With the Esprit the magic is most certainly there but some just are yet to see it. Cheers!
Gonna' be great!
Oh man, editing the next update now. The colour is perfection.
Ok I thought about watching this earlier before I went to work, but I’m glad I chose now as I’m sitting in my bed getting ready for bed because I could watch that for hours!!!! Also Bear, that’s one hell of a name! I cannot wait to see this in person! The lines are incredible on the car too, Lotus knocked it out of the park!!
pleased to be part of this project.
Wow awesome job, bear is a top lad too. Good to see you stay true to the lotus and doing a thorough job!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Great job Tim. High quality vid as always.
Agree with your comments 9:30 this really is strangely satisfying to watch. 👍
sounds expensive. I have a black 89 with crazing in the paint but looks great from 3ft away
Yeah. All this has been way more expensive than expected
Absolutely Magic, can't wait to see the next Vid.
As usual overly well done video an dwitha twist: passion! Well done Time, and I msut say well done to the skillfull guys who do al the bodywork!
Really looking forward to seeing htat deeeeeep dark purple black'ish reflect in the light.
Cheers,
Jacques
Cheers! Thanks so much for watching. The paint is deeeeeep!
The guys should wear masks rather than breathing powdered bondo and fiberglass for YEARS: there will be a huge price to pay
For the most part they do wear masks. I was surprised by some of the times they chose not too. I agree the price can be huge
I was totally mesmerized watching this, I cannot wait to watch the actual paint go on her! Thanks Tim for bringing us along on this journey! Love your channel!
Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words. I am seriously thinking of doing a fulll length 1 hour + monster cut of the body being painted. It is so soothing. No narration just zzzzz. Hahaha. Hope you consider subscribing the channel. Cheers!
Just found you ! Love Lotus Esprit too! Looking forward to the journey! Nice color choice too!👍🏻
Lots of Lotus information on here. Thanks so much for watching , please subscribe and hit the bell icon for updates ! Cheers!
At like 11:20 you can see how perfect the body was even before he laid down the complete coat of high build. It looks amazing!
It’s stunning now that it is painted . Absolutely stunning.
You're right, it IS mesmerizing, especially watching a talented gunman like Bear. That color is insane. I took on painting my MR2 (poor man's Esprit) this past summer, and went with a white base with a similar purple metallic ghost pearl. It's very subtle but in the right lighting conditions, the pearls explode. Can't wait to see this beautiful beast all done up!
I have a real soft spot for MR2s . Interestingly last summer I had two guys and one girl in MR2s approach me about how my esprit was their dream car. They were taken by surprise when I wholeheartedly expressed my deep love for the Mister 2. Beautiful beasts in their own right. Congrats on painting your car. It is quite the undertaking. Thanks for watching . Cheers!
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Oh yeah, I absolutely love mine. Even if I found an Esprit I could afford, I'd keep it. But there's nothing like the drama of an Esprit. I saw a G-bodied Esprit in the mid 80s in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and was just blown away by how low and wide it was. Been in love ever since!
I’ve just discovered your series and it’s fabulous. I’ve been a Lotus owner in UK for 30 years, mostly Esprit, and my V8 just went to South West Lotus yesterday for some servicing work and wheel refurb. Back in the mid 90’s i had one of these high wing S4 cars, medina green with magnolia leather, looked stunning but it was a bit of a marmite colour for some. I love your enthusiasm for the cars, it really comes across. Keep going...
New videos in this series coming soon. It’s an incredible process. Very time consuming. Very scary. 🤣. If you haven’t checked my other videos, I also have a Lotus Racing Green S4S . I actually am quite fond of these cars in colours. Medina is not a colour I have ever seen on one here in the states. That sounds like a brilliant combo! Cheers and thanks so much for watching!
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Yeah i saw the S4S ones, loved the sound of that new exhaust. A colleague had an S4S about the same time i had the S4 and it was pretty much the pinnacle of the 4 cylinder cars, though there were corrosion issues with those chrome wheels. Anyway, good luck with the rebuild and I’ll keep watching. The paint shop videos were relaxing to watch too.
I never knew how hypnotic it is to watch a car body get painted. What's wrong with me? LOL
Yeah it’s like seriously mesmerizing
Amazing, I'm absolutely loving this. Most people speed-up or jump cut. I would've watched it all, even if it had taken 4hrs. Huge job, but totally worth it 👏😁
Next video comes out next week featuring the colour and clear. It is weirdly satisfying. If I have time later in the project I may make a mega cut with no dialogue of just the spray process. Cheers and thanks so much for watching !
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage I can't wait. Thanks for thinking of the enthusiasts 🙂👍
Great video. The colour looks awesome and looking forward to seeing it on the car.
Hoping to have the next video up in the coming week. Stay tuned !
Thoroughly enjoying your Esprit project...can't think of another shape that deserves such TLC. I've loved these cars since first seeing a white s1 in Devon,UK in 1979...fantastic to appreciate the time and graft that's going in to resurrecting the bodywork. I imagine you're gonna have a hefty bill at the end but I'm anticipating the end result will take a lot of the sting out of it!...thanks for sharing and indulging us👍
I think it will be well worth it for all involved. It’s a process every car fanatic should experience once. Only once 🤣 cheers. I do hope you will subscribe to the channel.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage been subscribed for some time now my friend 👍
@@TheScudabear1 honestly cannot thank you enough for that.
I really love that color you don't see that to often perfect choice for this car project Tim!
Thanks so much Mick!!! The colour is soooo deep.
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage yeah for sure
"You can see the sexy right there!" 🤣 Damn straight. That's a much more emotional colour than black. Will be very interesting to see how it looks on the car. My guess. AMAZING!
Thanks for watching. This colour reacts to light in a super evocative way. VERY excited. Cheers!
Thanks for documenting this and sharing! Very interesting to watch!
