Lotus Esprit S4 Resurrection. Turning an Esprit that sat for a decade into JPS liveried greatness

  • This Lotus Esprit S4 resurrection will be a multi part video series of the step by step build of this car into something truly special. The 1994 S4 uses the Lotus 910 4 cylinder turbo engine and was a serious performer when new. Even now these S4 series cars look and feel like true exotics. This car sat forlorn in the Northern Florida sun for a decade. Tim and the team (Lucore automotive, Performance Auto Spa, South West Lotus Centre and more ) will bring this car back to life one step at a time and chronicle the experience which will culminate with the International debut of the finished project in November 2020.

    I've been watching this in reverse. Episode 4 to ep. 1. This is a great project. I had no idea the car was this grungy, lol. Can't wait to see the finished product.

      Campus Connection blessings man. I I i I I can honestly say I am in awe of how powerful that moment in time must have been when you needed to turn and go in a different direction. I wish you all the best with your ministry. If you are on Instagram or Facebook I would love it if you could send me a DM. I would like to interview you for a later episode. Thanks for the comment !

    Great channel. The 910 is one of the best 4 cylinders ever and never got the respect it was due. Keep up the good work and thanks.

      Hey my FRIEND! yes, your 928 DESERVES love. I actually forgot you had a TT and a 928 until I saw them hiding in the corner of your shop. It is one of the problems with owning a bunch of cars. Only 3-4 get the attention they deserve. Thanks for watching. I will do my best to make this entertaining.

      Augustin Fabre thanks my friend! I am hoping this one will turn out even better. It blows my mind someone could have a car like this and just watch it degrade for years. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers!

    Love the mid-wing S4s. I looked hard for one back in '08 but couldn't find one in my small-at-the-time budget. I don't regret the NSX I ended up with, but will always appreciate the lines of the S4. Looking forward to watching this one come back to life!

      Oh absolutely! I worked at a Ferrari dealer in Portland back in the 90’s(Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo)and we dealt Lotus at the time. I remember the first time I drove a brand new V8 Esprit(it was a pearl white with a weird rainbow-ish iridescent paint job)and as excited as I was it felt like it oddly lacked the fervor and excitement the S4 had--never was lucky enough to see or drive an S4s. But that mid-wing S4 was every bit the joy to drive that the F355b was, and for half the msrp! And it inspired me many career-maturing years later to pick up an Elise. Can’t wait to see the JPS transformation!

    Most certainly a dream car for me. There are 4 cars that are the most beautiful in the world. 1 affordable and the others...well out of 98% of the worlds population reach. The Esprit is the affordable one..well sort of. I'm am so happy to see one saved. I wish I had the mechanical ability to save such machines and the economic stability to maintain them. I will be following this as I will live through you and your channel as you rebuild. But please as a amateur filmmaker please find different music and bring down it's level. You have a good voice are you are well spoken. Let that be on the forefront and light, low decibel music in the background.

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 роки тому

      DR NO thanks so much for your comment and for watching! You will find it almost hilarious, my degree and back ground is in broadcast. I have scored Film, done a good bit of voice work for video games and kids educational products as well as produced and played on scores of records. Sorry the music is playing to large a roll. It’s funny, to get these done and editing all of them myself I have had to either ignore my producers ear completely or simply never let them reach the light of day. I hope to make this successful enough to hand off the editing , shooting and audio off to others so I can simply present the cars but in the end we nearly always end up shooting in a sub optimal situation, and I never have time to do a proper mix. The amount of time these take is profound given I still have do a variety of other jobs to make money. Maybe one day this will be enough. Sorry to have offended your production sensibilities, this ain’t easy ;) . Again, thanks so much for watching. I am hopeful you will subscribe and stop back. If a real budget and time table ever presents itself I am confident you will notice. Cheers!

    Awesome vid Tim. I've always found these esprit exotic looking. The transmission...eh. but the design and those wheels are delicious. Alan Flusser would give your sartorial selection on this vid a 9.5 man.

      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 роки тому +1

      my oh my. High praise here. I'm not worthy :-) Thanks so much for your time, I endeavor to make it well worth it! As far as the transmission, up until this point I have been really lucky. My S4S shifts like butter and isn't recalcitrant even shifting fast to second. I will keep you posted on this one's condition and what gear oil we find to be best. Cheers!

      JCT wow. This is super innovative and creative. One of the questions I get the most (given my V8 video has been widely shared) is what if any options are available in terms of transmission. I would definitely be interested in check this out and possibly featuring it if it is truly viable. Maybe DM me on Instagram or Facebook and we can stay in touch. Cheers!

      Rhian Taylor this is my second full year of videos. I don’t network as well as I should to increase viewership. I have been on the smoking tire podcast and write for S3 Magazine but really need to do a better job promoting. I would love it if you would subscribe and check out other videos. The chassis is excellent on this car (thankfully). I am hopeful that it will yield a solid result . Thanks so much for your comment! Cheers!

      Zero Balance Builds you are not alone in this. One of the guys I work with says, “you can’t buy that kind of weathered destruction. Build it for power and leave the patina.” I always say I want a rat rod but when the opportunity presents itself to me I can’t commit to it. It’s one of my greatest flaws 😩. Cheers man! .
