    This is a review of the heavily armed artillery trooper, Heavy Duty. Despite his '90's design touches (backwards neon green cap, multiple tattoos and ripped sleeves) this character became a favorite across multiple genres of collectors. Perhaps the only non-'80's character to became a classic.

    This guy was one of my favorites as a kid, I played with him so much that I wore out all his joints and ended up buying a second. Great review!

    Those tattoos are kill markings. He was new to the force, but currently has two Cobra tank kills to his name.

    Just when I thought 90s joe's had some sanity to the figure line, you bring out the neon orange bat

    I always thought his cobra rival would be Metal Head as both are acting as mobile weapons platforms.

      Could you tell me where you heard Heavy Duty is Roadblocks cousin? I heard about that from somewhere but none of his filecards (there are 13 versions) refer to them being related. Was it in the Devils Due or IDW comics maybe?

      formbx257 Devil Due or IDW I think but also his name was changed due license issue from Lamont A. Morris to Hershel Dalton in the reboot franchise) and it was mentioned their related in gi joe Spy troops the animated movie and later confirmed episode 23 cousins gi joe renegades

    I always felt his design was inspired by the marine smart gunner Drake in ALIENS. With the backwards cap, flip down infrared sight, and the fact he is basically wearing his oversized gun strapped to his waist.
    My theory on the tattoos, is, he gets one for every Cobra tank he destroyed

      Yes, I can now see the influence with the space marines! You're probably right on the tattoos as well being "kill marks" . Still seems a little extreme to me.

      formbx257 it was the 90s, he had to be extreme!!!

    I didn't know any 91 figures had eyes like that.

    Always liked Heavy Duty. He struck me as a throw-back to the Vietnam SOF that were kinda lax in uniform regs so long as you were good at "making good communists"

    Thanks for another great review, Kevin. The 1998 repaint of this figure is quite good as well and helps to tone down some of the bright green paint apps on this one. I don't quite understand how Heavy Duty became so popular either. Seems to me that Hasbro is the one who made HD popular rather than the other way around as I've never really seen a ton of love for this character from other collectors. While I do like the figure, he always struck me as a replacement for Roadblock, even though their specialties are different.

    Great review. I think the missile launchers were also on the 90's GIJoe apache (electronic sound) helicopter

      I think I skipped him because he's primarily anti-tank (ground attack), but yes they are similar too.

    What is the exact model of the original screw (type and measurement)? To replace all of my rusty screws with original screws, is there an exact model of screwdriver to remove the screws without breaking them?
    Can you give me a link where to buy original new screws for the figures?

    • @formbx257
      @formbx257  7 років тому +1

      The screws used in old GI Joes are industrial hobby screws. I'm not sure if they make them anymore since most of the "replacement" screws sold online don't fit. I generally save the originals (cleaning the rust off) or salvage the screws from other GI Joes or Lanard Toys Corps figures. Most small Philips-head screwdrivers are ok for removal, though.
      I really need to make a repair video on this subject one day...

      Q. Are you Latin? he seems Spanish-speaking. If you speak Spanish it would be great if you made videos in Spanish (or put subtitles) for the great Hispanic speaking community that is very fan of the world Gi Joe

      @formbx257  7 років тому

      Thank you! I don't speak Spanish, sorry. In the past I have suggested that anyone is free to copy my videos and translate it themselves, either voice-over or subtitles, and upload it.

      formbx257 Very good idea. if I were bilingual I would do that job with pleasure.
      I just came up with a great idea: why do not you attach subtitles in your own videos? Many people can read English but can not understand spoken English, the latter is much more difficult. And of course translators make better translations of text than voice (Google translate works decently with text). So I think it would be a good idea to include subtitles to your own videos to reach more people around the world
