This is a review of Cobra's first dedicated mountain climbing trooper. He came with a large rifle that was later used for a 1992 mail-away Iceberg figure ...for some reason. His head was also used (temporarily) for the UK/Europe release of the 1991 Crimson Guard Immortal, when the CGI's head was still in use for the mail-away Create-A-Cobra figure. Overall color scheme matches well with the Cobra Rage vehicle released the same year.
this is one of my favorite of the 90s cobra troops.
I pair the Rock Viper with the Range Viper since they're both wilderness troopers.
If his name didn't include the word Viper, I would think that he was a GI Joe. His rifle was so grossly over-used, in the latter part of the 90s.
another issue with the rock viper on the aftermarket besides yellowing is broken crotches ive gotten about five and three of mine were broken and most I see are so keep an eye out for that as well great review for a decent 90's fig
How can GIJOE figures get broken crotches? I have never EVER broken any of my figures' crotches...
KronnangDunn sometimes changing the o ring or some have brittle thin pieces of plastic and moving the legs too far can snap it off
Gods! i forgot about those action packs! be nice to see a review of those, maybe two an episode or something :)
I will review the eight 1987 Action Packs by the end of the month (1 video for four Joes and 1 for four Cobras). Later next year I will do the six 1988 Action Packs and five Vehicle Packs.
this is a good solid figure in the cobra line up. not too much to complain about, just a well done figure, the head mold is my only drawback.
nice review I was always interested in this figure despite my never getting him he was also released in a Python patrol six pack along side the heat ,saw,and major bludd with a different color scheme
love the stop motion scene.Also i think his card art design is pretty near featuring some of the rock hes climbing

I thought that too, an air supply for high altitude climbing (like the Range Viper). But there's nothing covering his nose or mouth. I suppose you could pretend the green visor lowers to cover the entire face and make an airtight seal.
It's probably the cord to his i-pod. 😉
