Most of these small engines with a full size filter, use the 3614 base filter. Useful info to know, especially since they won't tell you that, and instead want you to buy a expensive filter. All of my lawnmowers, I've chosen to switch over to either wix or fram, anything but the expensive Briggs and Stratton filters.
To speed up the draining process, run the generator for about 5 - 10 mins to get it hot. It will flow out much easier for you. Great Video, I saw the CRG sticker on the front panel, they also installed my 14kW system.
Yeah it's just the design I think. It's hard to get the drain hose at an angle to drain faster since it's so low already. I let it drain for quite a while. Don't fill it to the full capacity with new oil either. Leave a little room because there is likely a little oil left in the crankcase that didn't drain, etc. You can always add a little more if it's just a tad low after you start it up and run it for a bit.
Whoever installed your generator, did it wrong and surely against city/county/state code. That Natural gas line should have a flexible line attached at the generator bacl to the wall of the home. You paid 11k including install? Thats way too much. You got taken for a ride.
Nope, wrong on all accounts. City inspector came out and approved it. The gas company also approved the install. $9-12k is the going rate in my area, checked around at multiple places. It’s not 2005 anymore, prices have gone through the roof on everything.
@novaguy383 what do you think is going to happen over time as that generator vibrates that natural gas line and there is zero give? It's going to snap right at the threads. This is a well known plumbing problem that existed well before I was born. Read you installation manual for the genset. I know for a fact it says it in there. I own a 12res and take care of a 50kw and 100kw kohler and have since 2009.

That’s a good idea, I’ll keep that in mind next time. They did a good job and everything has worked flawlessly so far. Seems like a solid company.
Thanks! Will definitely use this info as ours needs this maintenance. Very helpful!
Glad you found the video helpful!
Very slow draining, was worried I wasn’t doing it right. Thanks for sharing

Thanks again
I just ordered a Kohler standby, does it come with the oil drain hose and shutoff valve?
Mine did. Not sure what model you ordered. I would imagine it would come with that stuff though.
Should have filmed the procedure from scratch.
Thank you for your valuable input

@@mikeanonymous669 He seems to have a flex line to me. It is the black rubber line between the trap and the house connection.
@@novaguy383 looks like you have a flex line, is that black center section not rubber?
@@thastinger345yes it’s a flex line. Not sure WTH the other guy is talking about haha!
