How to Paint PICKING SPRING FLOWERS with Acrylic Paint - Paint & Sip at Home - Step by Step Tutorial

- PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION - This painting tutorial will take you through easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this fun, exciting and bright floral seasonal portraiture landscape image of "PICKING SPRING FLOWERS" with acrylic paint. The most famous groundhog in history, Punxsutawney Phil, was right when he crawled out of his humble abode six weeks ago and saw his shadow and told the world that there would be six more weeks of winter. Not only is he a great weatherman, but his predictions clearly can rival any clairvoyant in history, including Nostradamus, because here we are and it’s time to step outside and enjoy the warmer weather, longer days, birds catching worms, insects buzzing, frogs mating, and all the flowers blooming. And, in just a few shorts weeks, we’ll all be wanting to walk through lush meadows, fields and rolling hills, smelling, gazing, touching, and picking all sorts of beautiful flowers. This is essence of this vintage Victorian style painting. Join me in this beginner level tutorial and learn how to paint a little girl carrying her basket as she strolls through an open country yard picking her flowers while enjoying the mild sun on her skin and a pleasant breeze in her hair. Using color theory to guide us through mixing various colors, we'll develop a vibrant grassy background and allow for good visual balance throughout this heavenly homestead landscape. You can imagine this do be any place you want, your backyard, a nearby farm or park, your favorite hiking destination, or your family’s flower garden. In this canvas painting for beginners, you'll be combining a loose stippling blending technique with dabbing and streaking brushstrokes, you’ll create dimension in your foliage. You could use your imagination to customize this image to represent any type of flowers you want, such as, roses, daisies, pansies, tulips, orchids, or hydrangeas. After drawing, outlining and applying a base coat to your person picking flowers, you’ll use simple painting techniques to add color contrast, as well as highlights and shadows, to bring her flower basket, dress, hat and hair, to life with a 3-d photo realistic quality. Following the instructions, you could easily change the color of her outfit, and have her wearing jeans, shorts or a shirt. You could even change the hat and have her wearing a baseball cap or cowboy hat. The bold vibrant natural colors add a relaxed mood to the piece that invokes a sense of quiet stillness allowing the smells and sounds of nature to ooze off the canvas. With the construction of the composition, you'll have fun with the simplicity of the process, but you'll also learn some valuable lessons that you can utilize in future work. This impressionistic storybook fairytale illustrative style painting is sure to impress the viewer and compliment the décor of any room. Using only 3 brushes and 7 colors we'll create this conversational masterpiece. Not just a beautiful painting, but an easy painting for beginners. So, let's get painting and let's get sipping!

Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 1/2 inch flat bristle (large), #12 round synthetic (medium), #6 round synthetic (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, chrome yellow, fire red, green oxide, burnt umber, fluorescent purple
Other: white chalk, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint background with green and black
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint 1st layer to grass with dark green (made in step 1), yellow and white
3. Chalk - Draw outline for girl
4. #12 round brush - Paint base coat for girl with brown and white
5. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint 2nd layer to grass with light green (made in step 2), white and yellow
6. #12 round brush - Paint basket with brown, black and white
7. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint first layer to flowers with purple and red
8. #6 round brush - Paint highlights and shadows on dress and hat with white, black, brown and tan (made in step 4)
9. #6 round brush - Finish hat and hair with black, brown, yellow, red, white
10. #12 round brush - Paint 2nd layer to flowers with red
11. 1/2 inch round and #6 round brushes - Finish flowers and grass with magenta (made in step 7), red, light green, dark green, yellow, and white
12. #6 round brush - Sign with black
