      Inside 10 feet I'm around a 8-9. If I dont make a 10 footer I'm upset. Lag putts I'm about a 5. My biggest golf jealousy was a guy I knew's ability to NEVER leave himself more than 3 feet for a second putt.

    Rick you by far have the greatest videos on UA-cam when it comes to teaching. I’m new to golf started late at the age of 29 only been golfing a year but have a simulator in my house and all I do is watch your videos and practise what I learnt. Your the greatest and I just wanted to say thank you. And it’s crazy it’s all free.

  • @davebuist5741

    I like how you don't edit out your missed shots. You're demonstrating a putting lesson and you missed the very last putt, it's refreshing of you to not simply edit it out to make yourself look even better and us mere mortals even worse. Loving your video series, learning loads. Just have to putt it into practice now 😉👍 (pun entirely intended).

    So the best putting coach says
    1. Read the green
    2. Hit the ball on the correct line
    3. Get the speed right
    Wow, if only I had thought of that. :)

    • @jackvanderpool3417

      Center of putter like pro, read green like a pro with proper speed like a pro?
      Not very valuable for most of us.

      This video was an absolute joke. I’ll tell you how to make more putts. Go to the golf course go to the practice green and start putting random putts make a game of it. Keep score. Do whatever makes it fun. But the only way to get better at putting... putt more

    • @smlofficial6911

      often the most simplest things are the hardest things to master, I guarantee most amateurs aren’t able to do all three of those things anywhere near as well as a professional

    • @wreckim
      @wreckim 5 років тому +12

      @@R3DST1CK I can't believe you're saying this...really. If you simply putt more, and practice more, and then you keep score; often you go on the course and miss putts. This happens all the time. Many of the best players in any club do this all the time. The advice given about making sure the putts start on the intended line, with the minimum amount of degree deviation from the start...if you get awesome at this one skill, you will make more putts period...guaranteed. This advice is not a joke IMO.

    • @R3DST1CK
      @R3DST1CK 5 років тому +2

      wreckim lol. The way you do that is by putting more. The more you putt the better you will get.

    Great info, Rick. Fortunately, putting has been a better part of my game and I owe that to the person that got me started in golf about 35 years ago. He had been a collegiate player and a scratch golfer. The information that he gave me was very similar to that of Phil's. Because of that, I have had good success at putting. This method really does work and I encourage everyone to try it if you are having problems with putting. I utilize walking up to the green to help evaluate the slope and do a final look once on the green. Putting can become a favorite part of your game if you are diligent.

    Great tips. I especially like your drill for tip 3. I was playing one time and my buddy said it was going to break left to right. I looked at it and to me it looked like right to left. Sure enough, it was like he said. So I have been having trouble reading the break sometimes. This is the best tip for reading that I have come across. I have seen golfers at times straddling their line between their ball and the hole, sometimes walking a couple of steps towards the hole, and then again, and have always wondered what they were doing. Now I'm sure this is it.

    Thanks for all the great videos.....A friend, who is a better than average golfer noticed I was missing many puts on the low side. He said look at the hole as a clock and if you are hitting a put that breaks right to left and if you are expecting to drop the put in the hole at 6 o'clock you may miss low however if you expect the put to fall at 4 o'clock...I very rarely miss on the low side now....thanks again for all of these amazing videos....

    Great video. To add one more thing to how to read break, you need to know whether the straight put is uphill or downhill.
    Downhill putts will always break more because the ball is rolling slower (because you have to hit them with less force to get them to the hole), so the other forces that act on the ball, such as gravity, wind, and grain, have more of an effect on the ball. On uphill puts, you have to hit the ball with more force to get it to the hole, so the other forces have less of an effect on the ball, so you can read less break on uphill puts.

    I enjoy putting. And practicing it to. Hours I've spent. But before I watch your video with posture and setup. My back would get stiff from practicing it the wrong way. When I get comfortable with my arms hanging and forearms square. It feels natural. I've also for so many years used a old ping putter that my dad gave years ago. It's was a 36" for he is quit tall at 6'3. I am 5'10 so once I saw your video of eyes just inside the ball it forced me to short in my stick. To a 33" putter. Years have went by trying to hole putts the wrong way. But thanks to you and instructional videos I am going in the right direction and now have something to measure and build off of..

    Six. Hopefully seven after those excellent putting tips. Sometimes when the sun is at the correct angle its hard to see the break. I never thought to look at my feet. Thank you for all your hard work and great tips! Every little bit helps.
