Q: RATE your putting ability out of 10! (1 being really bad - 10 being superb tour level)

3
8 , confidence is everything 😉😂
Inside 10 feet I'm around a 8-9. If I dont make a 10 footer I'm upset. Lag putts I'm about a 5. My biggest golf jealousy was a guy I knew's ability to NEVER leave himself more than 3 feet for a second putt.
9 putting is easily my strength.
6 I reckon. Pretty decent recently
Id be a professional golfer if I could drive straighter, Chip better, and sink more putts.
Id be a major leauge baseball player if I could throw 100 MPH, hit the ball 400 feet, and run fast.
@Truth lmao. If I could have replied to my own reply.....I would have said exactly what u said. Well done sir.
@Truth If I could add 5 inches to my putts, I'd sink more too. Wait, what?
Me too
I am 12 and shooting 43
The fact that your don't edit missed putts illustrates your humble professionalism without ego. From one teacher to another... well done and thank you for connecting and empowering your viewers.
was going to say the same thing. honest and humble.
Love his honesty. He might be my favorite golf pro.
Rick, I just wanted to thank you for all the great videos over the years. It's your enthusiasm that really wants me to get to the range or course and practice what I have learned from your videos. Keep going mate, you're a class act.
Every time you miss a shot I smile as I think to myself “I can do that!”
Rick you by far have the greatest videos on UA-cam when it comes to teaching. I’m new to golf started late at the age of 29 only been golfing a year but have a simulator in my house and all I do is watch your videos and practise what I learnt. Your the greatest and I just wanted to say thank you. And it’s crazy it’s all free.
I like how you don't edit out your missed shots. You're demonstrating a putting lesson and you missed the very last putt, it's refreshing of you to not simply edit it out to make yourself look even better and us mere mortals even worse. Loving your video series, learning loads. Just have to putt it into practice now 😉👍 (pun entirely intended).
Very well illustrated, thanks for keeping it simple and giving some great putting advice! Not enough good putting videos out there and this one is excellent
theres lots of great putting tip videos from a variety of ppl on youtube. your comment is nonsense mate haha
Speed and alignment are definitely a big part of putting. Learning the break of your home course comes with time as does learning how to read the break. Good tips!
This is what I needed!!
Thank ya Rick and Phil!!
So the best putting coach says
1. Read the green
2. Hit the ball on the correct line
3. Get the speed right
Wow, if only I had thought of that. :)
Center of putter like pro, read green like a pro with proper speed like a pro?
Not very valuable for most of us.
This video was an absolute joke. I’ll tell you how to make more putts. Go to the golf course go to the practice green and start putting random putts make a game of it. Keep score. Do whatever makes it fun. But the only way to get better at putting... putt more
often the most simplest things are the hardest things to master, I guarantee most amateurs aren’t able to do all three of those things anywhere near as well as a professional
@@R3DST1CK I can't believe you're saying this...really. If you simply putt more, and practice more, and then you keep score; often you go on the course and miss putts. This happens all the time. Many of the best players in any club do this all the time. The advice given about making sure the putts start on the intended line, with the minimum amount of degree deviation from the start...if you get awesome at this one skill, you will make more putts period...guaranteed. This advice is not a joke IMO.
wreckim lol. The way you do that is by putting more. The more you putt the better you will get.
Great info, Rick. Fortunately, putting has been a better part of my game and I owe that to the person that got me started in golf about 35 years ago. He had been a collegiate player and a scratch golfer. The information that he gave me was very similar to that of Phil's. Because of that, I have had good success at putting. This method really does work and I encourage everyone to try it if you are having problems with putting. I utilize walking up to the green to help evaluate the slope and do a final look once on the green. Putting can become a favorite part of your game if you are diligent.
Thanks for sharing, Rick! A ton of great tips for relatively newbies like me!
Your instructional videos are getting more sophisticated Rick! This new putting video is excellent in the way it covers some of the essential skills needed to putt well. Looking forward to others like it...
Thank you Rick, love the videos!
I Love the tips In this video. I've been working with the Taylormade spider and I love to use the mirror and alignment tools for putting.
Putting looks so simple and easy, but it’s probably the hardest part of a normal course. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten to the green in 2-3 strokes on a par 5-6 and end up getting a 7 because of my putting😂
I feel that lol
I get 7 for the same reason
Who the hell is disliking this video, because unless you sink every putt from every conceivable distance and break, this makes perfect sense. Thanks, Rick, for soliciting the advise of a true expert, and then demonstrating what he’s advising. Well Done!!
Rick....I find your way of explaining the golf techniques very good and easy to comprehend.....thank you so much
Great video Rick, always coming with the best information!
I have just started playing golf and have really been enjoying your instructional videos with skills that I can apply as a beginner.
I obviously caught this video late but this is probably my favorite video on your channel hands down. Thank you so much for al your help Rick!
Great video Rick. Putting is a part of my game which I struggle with but hopefully with this video it'll improve massively
Great video Rick! so much truth to these tips. I will use them my next time out 👍
Great tips. I especially like your drill for tip 3. I was playing one time and my buddy said it was going to break left to right. I looked at it and to me it looked like right to left. Sure enough, it was like he said. So I have been having trouble reading the break sometimes. This is the best tip for reading that I have come across. I have seen golfers at times straddling their line between their ball and the hole, sometimes walking a couple of steps towards the hole, and then again, and have always wondered what they were doing. Now I'm sure this is it.
Thank you Rick for this introduction to Phil Kenyon. His three putting points were very interesting and what I call common sense. It is just that I don't always have the insight to reason out the common sense to the putting situation I find myself in. Please continue these types of video both you and Peter. Las Vegas Duffer Joel
What a blast to see Phil at Sea Island, Georgia USA. Been there numerous time and always listened from a safe distance as he would work with touring pros. Wonderful tips from the man. Thanks RIck
Thanks Rick for this awesome video. Like the way you demonstrated the advise into practical examples. Keep advising!
Great content! Really enjoyed it and shared it with all my golf buddies. Thanks Rick
Thanks for every video you’ve made this year! Can’t wait for even more new great tips in 2019!
Awesome video Rick!!!! I really need help with my putting as it is as 3 out of 10 right now so thank you so much for posting this!!!!
One of your most informative videos Rick. Like the idea of bringing specialists on. Oh and more reviews, that's your bread and butter
Thanks for these tips I'll try to put the into practice next time at the practice green.
I'd say one thing about delivery and that is to finalise the clip with a brief summary of the key points to make viewers reinforce their learning of them.
Thanks for all the great videos.....A friend, who is a better than average golfer noticed I was missing many puts on the low side. He said look at the hole as a clock and if you are hitting a put that breaks right to left and if you are expecting to drop the put in the hole at 6 o'clock you may miss low however if you expect the put to fall at 4 o'clock...I very rarely miss on the low side now....thanks again for all of these amazing videos....
Hi Rick,
Thanks for the tip. A good reminder of what we should be doing.
Tip three for me simple but makes a lot of sense.
Thanks.
I watched this video and employed these tips. My first round of 18 since watching this video, I walked out with only 1 3-putt on the day and everything else was a 1 or a 2-putt. Definitely feeling better about my short game!
What great advice, putting is a big issue for me so defo gonna take this out on the course with me to improve, thanks rick
I appreciate the realism in your videos. You could have edited that right-to-left put to drop it 8n the hole, but you showed us realistically what did, and can happen, to us. Cheers!
Very good video. I feel my last couple rounds my putting has been a 6-9. My last round I had 7 one-putts and not a single three-putt. But some rounds it’s a complete 180. I’m definitely going to work on these drills. Thanks Rick
Thank you very much, Rick. Merry Christmas.
Great videos for a beginner-just enough info to absorb, well explained. Thanks much!
I´m new to golf and this is a real eye opener for me
Great advice, will try the drills. Thanks Rick
Well ever since phil told be to hit the ball straighter and at the right pace in been sinking 1 putts left right and centre. What game changing advice!
Excellent will be practising later today, great channel, thanks for all the top tips, very much appreciated.
This was a great video.Rick Shiels should put out more putting videos. He does such a great job. The best i've watched.
Good fundamentals to better putting. Simply explained! My putting ability is about 8.0. I tend to die everything to the hole, so I have to anticipate more break in my putts! By doing this, I rarely 3-putt!
Thanks for the great putting tips video. Helped alot. Your instructional videos have helped me alot in my golf game. Thanks.
Awesome video and great help Rick!!! Keep up the great videos!!
Great video mate! Time to take it to the practice putting green. Cheers!
Great work Rick getting us these great tips!!! I average 26 putts a round so i would say a 7.
Nice exercises n tips. Thanks Rick & Phil
Rick thank you for the help! Will make us better golfers.
Love your videos Rick, great drills!
can you make a video on the advantages and disadvantages of different styles of putter like mallet vs blade etc
Hi Rick, excellent video.
These tips are gold for me.
Thanks.
Great video. To add one more thing to how to read break, you need to know whether the straight put is uphill or downhill.
Downhill putts will always break more because the ball is rolling slower (because you have to hit them with less force to get them to the hole), so the other forces that act on the ball, such as gravity, wind, and grain, have more of an effect on the ball. On uphill puts, you have to hit the ball with more force to get it to the hole, so the other forces have less of an effect on the ball, so you can read less break on uphill puts.
Love these tips! I’m maybe a 1.5 having only started a bit more than a year ago….these videos really help especially when I can get out and practice them! Thanks
1.5?
Great video!! ive been putting with practice balls in my apt all day , thanks for the info!
Rick - Thanks for the tips merry christmas & happy new year!
Really liked this concept of video and I'd love more like it.
Three tips I’ve been looking for! Great video.
I enjoy putting. And practicing it to. Hours I've spent. But before I watch your video with posture and setup. My back would get stiff from practicing it the wrong way. When I get comfortable with my arms hanging and forearms square. It feels natural. I've also for so many years used a old ping putter that my dad gave years ago. It's was a 36" for he is quit tall at 6'3. I am 5'10 so once I saw your video of eyes just inside the ball it forced me to short in my stick. To a 33" putter. Years have went by trying to hole putts the wrong way. But thanks to you and instructional videos I am going in the right direction and now have something to measure and build off of..
My putting game is really in need of improvement. I'm going to have to take this new found information to the practice green. Thanks Rick!
This is one of the best videos I've ever watch of you I will definetly be doing those drills
I really like this formula for videos: expert advise followed by practical exercises. Thumbs up Rick !!
Thanks!
my favorite part of learning from Rick is he isn't too proud to put up misses definitely why I continue to trust his videos to help me
Great video Rick, I really enjoy your content. Keep them coming.
Thanks Martin!
You the best bro your videos are non stop with more then enough information and well described anyone could understand knowledge and entertaining very helpful just getting started my self going to see a pro tomorow to help with my drive gonna be trying everything you show really appreciate it bro
Thanks Rick for the putting advice .
Great video my husband watch’s him all the time he’s learning more and more from him
Love ur vids I watch u on driver vs driver 2 jus keep up the good stuffy favorite UA-camr ever
Thanks for the video Rick. I always struggle with the 3rd shot. I seem to freeze up because of the bunkers being there. Can't get them out of my head and end up in them 95% of the time. Gonna go and practice what you showed.
Great vids Rick..keep them coming..👍
Your videos are top notch, Rick. I’m going to try the gate method with my 4yo son. Practice makes perfect!
He picked up some clubs a few weeks ago and he loves it. We’ll keep watching your videos and implement a few of these strategies.
Can I mention that we got our golf tips from your videos on our VLOG?
This has got to be one of your best, if not, the best instruction video you have ever done, thanks. Maybe a follow up spending a little more time on green reading would help me. 👌👍👍
Quality video great information on speed.
extra special video, very handy, thanks
Quality content - many thanks!
I just started playing golf a few weeks ago and have been practicing a ton, I love it. Thing is I can drive just fine and chip in alright but when it gets to putting I just completely fail and take like 3 swings to just get in the damn hole.
Excellent advice as ever Rick !
I rate my putting at a 6 - I miss more 6 footers than I should but I log more 1 putts than 3 putt in a round. This is a very helpful video - I’ll be using these tips for sure. Thank you
Thanks for the tips. I’ll work on all three.
Great video Rick. I’m a junior golfer (almost 16) and I’ve been playing for almost 12 years now. There has always been something wrong about my putting. When I practice trying to role the ball with a gap the size of a ball I do it perfectly. As soon as I am in tournament I never hole a putt. I hope these other tips help me and actually start winning! Thank you!
You're almost 19 now. How's it going?
Awesome videos Rick. Long time fan
7 and getting better with drills. I’d add one that really helped me with lag putting. I pick a long distance and putt to the fringe; just touch the fringe. Really helped me
Hey, I've got a varsity conference meet in Virginia minnesota on the 24th and 25th. I've been watching all of your tip videos trying to get better so I can break 80, right now I'm only breaking 100 but I've been progressing by watching your videos from shooting over 120 down to the 90s. I just wanted to say thank you for helping
Thanks for making your vids better every time. Great advice 👍 ☘️⛳️
Great tips will be using them next time out
Very good! I am trying to improve my putting. Nice Evenroll putter.
Great tips, thanks Rick
Rick are you still looking for the Callaway X14s? I have an almost brand new set (2-SW) if you are I will send them to you to try. Cheers.
Brilliant video. Never been a good putter, definitely wiser now.
Great video Rick, seriously.
saving this one for the spring when i can get out and start to play again. Great drills to add consistency. #nomore3putts
Really helpfull thanks
Excellent video, awesome tips👍
Great advice from the best
Six. Hopefully seven after those excellent putting tips. Sometimes when the sun is at the correct angle its hard to see the break. I never thought to look at my feet. Thank you for all your hard work and great tips! Every little bit helps.
I’m really good at leaving the putt a couple inches short.
Unless it’s off line, then it’s 8 feet by...
You know what they say, short putts never go in
Good news. Just hit it a little harder.
It’s bad to be good and good to be bad
