- As I went to leave for a trip, I started my truck and had no oil pressure reading on the gauge. Initially I suspected the sending unit and gauge but that proved not to be the issue. into the engine we go! A little ways anyway.

Excellent job...gave me incentive for a heads up👍👍
Thanks! Glad it helped! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks your video Helped alot!
Great! Thanks for watching!
I had the same problem on my 2000 5.3 Silverado I didn't have to do the pump though but yeah dropped the pan cleaned it out replaced the pickup tube and the O ring and a screen on the sending unit all good now at 188000 miles
I was hoping that would fix mine! But of course not! Good luck with yours and thanks for watching!
It’s never easy! Good catch on pressure drop. Just think if someone else was driving, coughing (like wife)!
Yes! I'm glad I played it safe and didn't just assume it was the gage and keep driving. Thanks for watching!
Dammit I've watched countless videos about these low oil pressure issues on these GM's. I guess it's time to change the oil pump on my 05 Yukon Denali. I'm not a mechanic so the shop I called wanted 1500 for the job
@@assemblyrequired1 À combien de kilomètres faut-il changer la pompe à huile sur ce moteur ?
So oil pump ? I just changed the oil pan gasket on my truck and I replace the oil sender tube and my oil pressure gauge doesn’t move it stays it doesnt move at all so I drive it around the block thinking it would move and nope truck died on me had to tow it back and now I’m figuring out what could it be but before I changed it my truck drove fine so I don’t know what the problem is
Hard to say exactly. Could just be the Oil Pressure Sending Unit that's bad. First thing I would do is check it with a manual gauge to see if you are getting pressure out of the pump. If no pressure, then yes, oil pump. If you are getting pressure, then the sending unit or gage is likely. I would be cautious of driving the truck until I knew if I was getting oil pressure. Does the starter still turn the engine over? Hopefully it didn't die because the engine locked up!
did you replace the pump or clean it to eliminate the stuck valve?
Replaced, after I got the piston moving it felt fine, but I didn't trust it. Thanks for the comment!
@@assemblyrequired1 smart decision!
Check the vacuum side of your oil cooler.
What am I looking for?
Did it make any valve noise when it lost oil pressure?
Zero, that's the major reason I suspected the sending unit at first. I'm glad I stopped and checked things out before I drove it.
He's not ready for us still has a Duramax on the hoist he wants to put us on.
I know you have looked at all of these but I ran across this for what it's worth.
Was this maybe supposed to be a text? Either way, thanks for watching and hopefully it shed some light on what sounds like is going on with your truck!
