You do a wonderful and thorough job of explaining everything. Thanks so much for doing that!
Loved the snowman, great instructions as well, thanks for sharing!
I am fairly new to turning and have decided to hone my skills by making Christmas gifts and ornaments now. You do a great job of filming and narrating your videos. Thanks for that.
Super instructional video, Scott. Probably the best snowman turning video I've seen on UA-cam
Among the best editing I've seen on a woodworking video. Enjoyable content.
One of my favorite snowmen yet, great video. Love the idea of using milliput for buttons and eyes.
Excellent class. A lot of work in that snowman! Thank you!
Fantastic, thanks
I have just started wood turning as a hobby and absolutely love this snowman its superb and your videos are brill
Your descriptive commentary and thorough job will make it very easy for the rest of us to do one or a hundred Ha Ha. Very simple, but very effective. Congrats! Cheers, Sean
I appreciate your detailed instructions. The snowman will become a part of our Christmas gift decorations.
thank you.
Wonderful job with the detail instructions, well edited. And a great job, looks great!
I just made a bunch of these as gifts. Great project and great video. Thanks!
Probably the best descriptive commentary I have come across. Every detail plainly explained.
Thank you and well done!
Looks great and nicely presented, gonna make three of these for my daughters....thankyou
Great step by step detail and I like the Miliputty idea. Exellent video!
That's a nice looking snowman. Good work.
Thank from Quebec, Canada, I already make one, I'm very proud of the result, so I will do more to decorate and give to my familly for the christmas time
Awesome work man! The build quality and video production are both fantastic.
One of the best tutorials yet - well done Scott.Sent from the U.K.
Excellent instructional video show as always Scott....!
You inspired me to make a couple snowmen for an ornament exchange. I turn pens but rounding things off was a new challenge for me. I cut into the brim to hard and snapped it off too. I also don't have a chuck so had to make some adjustments there. over all I'm satisfied. thank you.
Nice job. Good choice of woods.
Really new turner and I appreciate the layout info.
Super clear. Thanks so much for this tutorial
Great video, and it convinced me to go ahead and make a few snowmen. Thanks!
Thanks for the really great video. Awesome job!
Awesome job & instruction Sir!
I like snowman a lot. This one is so cute!!
Thank you!
Well done! Thanks for sharing.
I'm very new to wood turning and decided to try this as my first real project. Used scrap wood, which wasn't the ideal wood but following your tutorial ended up with a snowman that, well, looks like a snowman! Need to practice a lot more to get as good a shape as you have but am delighted with how my first attempt came out .... which was entirely thanks to this really excellent, and clear, tutorial. Thank you!
Fantastic detailed video !
Thanks for a fun and instructive video! I used glass beads instead of Milliput, and I haven't put "scarves" on mine yet, but I'm really happy with how they turned out.
Best snowman video out there . Thanks.🙌
Thanks for the comment!
excellent video sir . thankyou
Great project, and your video work is excellent!
very nice video and Awesome work on the snow man!
Awsome video Keep it up ! love how you explain everithing.
that's not a snowman. that's a work of art!!! well done
Best snow man on you tube I love it
Nice video! I'm going to try this project with maple, poplar, and purple heart. I had to remove a maple 18 months ago in my front yard. My kids of course played in that tree and it was NO Dad. Had to come down so saved some branches. Attempting some larger snowmen for the girls for keepsakes. Purchased the milliput in 4 colors. Thanks for the expert video!
Very cool. Nice job. Good luck in the challenge
I really like how you made the hat tilt back on the snowman
Very cool wee piece. 👌👌👌👌
The quality of both your snowman and the video itself are top notch. Can't wait to see more video from you.
I have gone through a number of videos, this is the only one I have found that gives actual dimensions. Don't know if you realize what a help that is to new turners. Thanks, you did a great job. (Don't forget the nose. LOL)
Nice job! Happy Holidays!!
Nice job. Beatiful.
Great job. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! Wish all turning videos were as professional as yours!👍
Just awesome, I’m making one 😊
I really enjoyed your video, I tried it myself for the first time
This is great I'm finally getting around to making this hope it turns out as good as yours. Also I really love your content wish you would make more videos!
Very nice!👍🏻
thats right! Greetings from Austria
Thank you for the video. I especially appreciate the dimensions .
Merecídisimo like maestro!
Great video!
great job dude
That's awesome! I'm new to turning, and this looks like a fun project to hone my skills with. Nice video!
Really like your videos thanks for sharing
excellent camera work
Good stuff, i like milliut
What a lovely ornament, I have my own channel but do not do any woodturning. I'm only 15 years old and am trying to grow my channel like yours, thanks for all your great videos.
;)
I really loved your video
Very classy! I have never heard of Milliput until now. This is a rather labor intensive process for an ornament, however, for a larger snowman to sit on a shelf, it's a great design. If I'm doing a lot of ornaments, I'll use a process similar to the one shown by Rick Turns on his channel. Again, your videos present a very clear step by step process and I'm going to use if for a larger snowman.
Based on your video, I ordered a tube on Amazon to give it a try.
Yes, ordered the black. Will be here tomorrow.
Good vid would like to see you make one with all in one.
I like the instructional video especially giving the measurements to making the reference marks/lines. Like others, I had not heard about milliput, but have used other epoxy mixtures. Would like to know what type of tool/gouge is being used. It doesn't look like a 3/8 gouge, so am not sure what type it is. There is certainly a sharp edge on the tool to make those cuts look like a hot knife through butter!
Brilliant snowman figure
Where Health And Safety Are Paramount!
Perfeito, adorei o boneco de neve, ótimo trabalho 🫡✌️🇧🇷
Obrigado pelo comentário 👍
very nice!
Excellent, je vais en faire un pour les prochaines fêtes de fin d'année.....
Merci beaucoup!
Nice job
Great job.
Thank you!
Really cool project and the video editing/camera work are top notch! Keep it up man!
So cute.
Love how you created the hat. Putting it at an angle makes all the difference.
Your channel was recommended by Carl Jacobson...nice work i look forward to watching more of your content.
Nice!
Very nice video and great project. Lots of good tips. Carl Jacobson sent me over to you site. Keep up the fine work. Merry Christmas.
Liked this video.
Very nice wonderful video
top top video thanks mate :)
I love this snowman. I'm new to turning but would love to try this one. What type of chisel did you use after the roughing gouge?
I’ve enjoyed your videos very informative any plans to make more
Great video! Very specific details without a lot of dribble. Well done. Question - midway thru the video, you show a slightly different version with a continuous smile instead of the 3/32” holes. Did you just drill a couple extra holes? How did you clean them up?
I'm new to turning, so this is a bit overwhelming especially to adapt different wood sizes and trying to follow all the steps. Is there a written document to provide these steps and how to adjust measurements to different wood sizes? Also have you done one where the hat is incorporated with the initial blank (ie the same wood as head/body)? Those instructions/measurements would also be helpful. Thanks for any newbie tips!
Great video! Would you think this little guy is light enough to add a loop and give as an ornament?
Thank u this will my gifts for family this sent have started lathe also great job and what recording device u are using
Enjoyed it very much. Here is a question. I have some fly ash (the ash residue from the chimney of a power plant) and it is black. What do you think about mixing the ash with epoxy in place of the Milliput?
I like this and am turning one right now. Only found one real problem. you turn down the tenon on the hat to 1/2 inch (to fit the hole drilled in the snowman body). and then you turn it around and put that 1/2 inch tenon into a chuck. How many people havepin jaws that will close to 1/2 inch? not me! I improvised and made it work but the rest is great
I am just starting to use a lathe. For small craft projects like the snowmen which is better...dry or wet wood? I hear wet for bowls to get them to a rough and oversized shape, then let them dry in a bag for a long time before finishing them. Same for small crafts like the snowmen?
Cute snowmen. What did you call that 2 part putty?
Seganti Woodworking. You make very beautiful items unfortunately I don't have its channel but I often watch your channel. Tell me what kind of black material which you fill depressions. Thank you.
I love this little guy. I’m making nine of them.
I have one question: what knot did you use to tie the ribbon into a scarf? It looks like maybe a Square Knot, but I can’t be sure. I’ve tried several of my own, but they don’t look as good as yours.
Awesome project. thanks for such an informative video. Brand new to turning and this seems like a great project to hone my skills and have something to gift to family who loves these type of things. I have an abundance of maple blanks to work from (took a tree down last year)
What tool are you using to round the body into a sphere? Is that just a spindle gouge?
3/8” spindle gouge.
