Love this video. Great music 👍 Great work. Love the little chap. Video very informative even though there's no speaking. Like the list at the end too. Thanks
First off, you do beautiful work and you are superbly talented with the tools used in your video. I am a beginner at woodturning, a raw recruit with no experience whatsoever. Do you have any instructional videos for wanna-bees such as myself?
Nice! I just found your video after I did mine. I called them Wood Elfs after getting inspired by Curt Fuller then one of my viewers mentioned gnomes. I did a search and found yours. Interesting to see the variations.
I've been looking for the fo-fur to give the gnome thing a try but so far the ones I bought falls apart too easily makes ng a mess out of the pieces. Great video! Thanks
Terrific work Rebecca! Very cute and I love the proportions. Think I’d turn the two small ‘buttons’ for the nose and hat the other way round so that I could size the tenon/spigot more easily - but it’s all a matter of personal choice. Well done!👍
What a great piece! Nice lathe work. On the next one, maybe try and cut an actual piece out of the fur around the nose, not just a single cut. I think the fur would lay down easier
The sizes carry depending on the desired finished size and shape. Generally speaking, similar diameter for hat and body, with a longer blank for the hat.
Great video. I found myself giggling just watching the various parts come together and knowing where they would wind up. Music selection was so good but I agree with whoever suggested that you add voice-over.
I just saw Nick's after I did mine as well. We all get tacky comments from time to time and just have to let them roll off. His is faster but yours are cuter. I would do Nick's faster ones to sell and your slightly more complex one with the contrasting woods to give to friends.
Nice music, although I would have preferred if you had talked about what you were doing and why you sized the parts as you did. Design and proportions are not my strong suit.
Such nice work. Talented.
Cutest Christmas ornament!! Well done 👏!!!
Really a cute little guy! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, very impresssive...and that music! I'll give it a try myself.
Robert Sauve awesome! Thanks
Loved your demonstration, best one I have seen so far. Thanks for sharing.
Just like the last one, so cool! Amazing how you get so close without snapping the piece or cutting through. - Jim
The Wood Lab thanks!!! Just very VERY carefully.
Great job Aunt Rebecca. From Gnomeo❤️❤️
Thanks Gnomeo!!! 💜
I’m always amazed at the detail you get from your gouge
Lewis Kauffman thanks! I’m not the best, but I’m a lot better than I used to be.

I enjoyed your gnome video very much. Very skillful turning. I am a new subscriber in Michigan.
Joseph Wise thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! What part of Michigan? I went to college in Grand Rapids.
@@RebeccaDeGroot I live in Monroe. I have a granddaughter that lives in Dallas.
What a great idea! Will try this sometime. Enjoyed the video - your humour and your skills. Subscribed.
colin cragg thank you!!
Awesome job!
Michael Anway thank you!
Very well done. You should get an awl to mark the spot where you want to drill a hole.
Greg Just thanks! And I should probably do that.
love it, so talented
Sterling Davis thank you!!!
That’s for sharing your awesome videos love them so much you gave me no choice but to subscribe to you 🤙👏😘
Great video! Thanks very much.
Spectacular!!! You give me hope that I can maybe make more UA-cam videos. And by more I mean more than my silly single video.
Scott Kershaw haha if I can, anyone can. You can do it!
I've been looking for the fo-fur to give the gnome thing a try but so far the ones I bought falls apart too easily makes ng a mess out of the pieces.

Absolutely! Thank you!
Great video. Excellent project. Curious what finish did you use on hat and body?
Hi! Thank you. I’m pretty sure it was probably just a spray Lacquer. That’s what I use for almost everything.
thank you for sharing, nice gonk 👏👏
Gnome. Gonk is a weird british term that doesn't make sense for these. In fact, the right word is nisse or tomte.
That is to cool. Also love the music.
Robert Amaro thank you!
Great video. Convinced me to subscribe . 👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦
Brian Sinclair awesome! Thanks!!
This was great!
What a great piece! Nice lathe work. On the next one, maybe try and cut an actual piece out of the fur around the nose, not just a single cut. I think the fur would lay down easier
Tom's Dreamshop Worx thanks! I might just try that
Curious about that sharpened wrench you used for the tenon? It's a great idea!
you only have to sharpen the top, but it's a great tool for getting tenons down to a consistent size.
Very nice.
Great video, what is the dimensions of your wood before and after completing your project?
The sizes carry depending on the desired finished size and shape. Generally speaking, similar diameter for hat and body, with a longer blank for the hat.
Drilling into a piece of wood held in the palm of your hand ?
Love your gnomes!! Where do you get your faux fur?
Very cool! What are the dimensions you used?
It’s hard to say. Most of them are 2x2” with the length about 1-1.5” longer than the finished height of each piece.
Great video. I found myself giggling just watching the various parts come together and knowing where they would wind up. Music selection was so good but I agree with whoever suggested that you add voice-over.
This is just a sneak peek at the Interactive Remote demonstrations I do on these, so I didn’t want to give too much away. Thanks for your comments!
Did you give him a name i really like your videos you do nice work.
allan wagner thank you! I named this one Doug.
Thank you very nice.
Love it all..Only one cringe..holding the wood in your hands while drilling.
Cute little Dude. 👍🇺🇸
Cortland Hunt thanks!!
Nailed it!
Thank you!!!
Nice 😀
piermichele servi thank you!
Hi, did you say where to get the faux fur? Thanks
I get mine from fabric stores. Most of them will have a selection of faux fur.
@@RebeccaDeGroot Thanks very much.
Also second the motion to add voice over.
Brilliant-you should do a demo for us at wgo.ca and I will also ask you for a Strauss Waltz😀
If your club does want to have me for a demo, shoot me an email through my website and I can send over a list of possible IRDs
Great video, thank you but I would never hold a piece of wood in one hand and drill it with the other. One day............
New contest: Who did the Gnome design first! Oh, please, people. Who cares. Rebecca's is the best one anyways.
Really? Swan Lake!
I've heard this before!
💋💋💋
Love your videos Rebecca, but I would like to hear you talking and explaining exactly what you are doing instead of just music all the time.
Rodney Miller maaaaaaaaaaaybe. I don’t have the best mic setup, but I’ll see if that’s something I can plan for the future
@@RebeccaDeGroot LOL! Just saying.
So you watched nick's video....
mtrebman actually no. Not until a couple minutes ago when someone else brought it up.
Who’s Nick?
I just saw Nick's after I did mine as well. We all get tacky comments from time to time and just have to let them roll off. His is faster but yours are cuter. I would do Nick's faster ones to sell and your slightly more complex one with the contrasting woods to give to friends.
